A great video to showcase why Superman really is arguably the greatest superhero of all time. I personally believe that Superman is the greatest superhero of all time, and he is without a doubt my favorite superhero. Superman is the greatest superhero, not because of his powers, but because of how he genuinely wants to use his powers to help people and do the right thing. Many people would not willingly use his powers that selflessly, which just makes Superman all the more interesting. People tend to call Superman boring, even though he doesn't make the choice that would commonly be made. Superman shows plenty of humanity, but shows the best rather than the worst. Superman inspires people, both fictional and in the real world, how to be better, and that's what's needed in this world.

But the dark, brooding, lonely rich depressed billionaire that doesn’t socialize much is the only thing people seem to focus on these days. Look at how everyone wants to be introverted and anti-social. People want to seem mysterious and quiet because they think this will win them friends and followers. Everyone is hyper focused on being rich or having lots of money to showcase themselves as this all powerful person with status much like Batman/Bruce Wayne. People call Supes corny or boring while complaining that nobody is trying to be nice or positive these days. Yet nobody is really interested in being nice or positive themselves. But they blame everyone else for this issue. Superman is the personification of love. Something people claim doesn’t exist anymore. Maybe it’s because they refuse to believe in it and be it themselves. Nobody wants to be loving or kind, but yet want YOU and everyone else to be loving and kind to them and them only. Selfishness, depression, loneliness, this fake idea that they’re introverted and so on. Less and less Superman has made a lot of people in modern day societies very greedy, backstabbing, depressing and selfish.

I used to not like him way way way back in the day. For some reason I convinced myself that superman was a rip off of Shazam. I literally thought that. Once I found out he was before Shazam I thought to myself "Oh $#!T!! Superman is number one then! Hes the top dog in superhero's". Goku seemingly is more loved, but even if he was comparable to Supe in everyway, the one thing he isnt is importance. Goku is LIGHT YEARS behind Supe in sheer importance and impact. Agreed. To me the often-overlooked point of Superman is to show the value of quality upbringing. Character comes fundamentally from having an authority figure in your life who teaches you the things that really matter, such as doing what you can to help others. If Clark's pod had landed in New York City (for example) instead of rural Kansas, the government would have raised him and he'd be Homelander.

Superman is the most important superhero, but there are too many problems with his character that keep from being the "greatest' as opposed to the most important. Superman is just too overpowered, and I have a hard time suspending my disbelieve when it comes to this character. I feel like the original version of superman where he was super strong and could jump high because he was an alien from a planet with harsher conditions and stronger gravity made sense, but modern superman that can fly at light speed, has Greek god levels of strength with laser beams and ice breath is just too much and makes no sense. Another major problem with superman is that there is a lot of American propaganda in his character, it's not in a bad way but it keeps him from being universal character.

I always hate the whole "Goku is better than Superman because he trains" argument. He starts Dragon Ball off, as a child, being stronger than just about everyone without even needing to train. Then it's revealed he's also an alien, and everything we learn about the Saiyan race just makes Goku training less of an ordeal. He's already a member of one of the most powerful races in the setting, without any sort of limiting factor like a yellow sun, or weakness like Kryptonite (save for the whole pulling their tail thing, which stops being a factor immediately after the first arc of DBZ anyway) On top of being among the most powerful races in the setting, (meaning that he doesn't have to train nearly as hard as, say, the humans and Namekian he fights alongside of to get to their level) his race becomes more powerful whenever they're nearly killed, and that presumably still works if they are killed and then brought back to life (which happens a lot more frequently than it does to Superman, by the way) so it's not like there's ever much at stake if Goku doesn't train, he can just come back, either through the dragon balls or just being friends with the local gods (like when he came back for a tournament even though he's supposed to be dead in the Buu saga) And that's not even getting to the fact that Saiyans can access super special forms of convenience that increase their power exponentially, just because. You don't even have to work hard to get that. At first it's a prophecy that comes about when Goku watches his friend die, then Vegeta gets it by being a prick, and then suddenly every Saiyan can do it. Basically, Goku is starting off at a power advantage even more OP than your average Kryptonian, but because we get scenes of him exercising, and we puny humans have the association that "exercise = work = earning", people think that Goku's less OP or more inspirational because he "has" to train. He started off with a power level of 2 as a infant. In a series where an average adult human male has a power level of 5. As a newborn, he's already half as strong as you. At the start of Dragonball, he's already twice as strong as you are. Him "training hard" doesn't mean anything unless he's already got the strong genetics, which he does. Krillin trained just as hard as everybody else and he got killed by Frieza all so that Goku could activate his super form (didn't train for that, did he?) and become even stronger for nothing. training" is so cheesy. He does push ups, now he can fly. He does jumping jacks, now he can blast energy, he touches his toes, now he can lift mountains, ect. Don't get me started on the cheesy levels thing. "Ha ha, wow, you might have kicked my but, but you haven't kicked super Saiyen me's but! Oh wow, you DID kick Super Saiyen me's but...but you haven't beaten Super Saiyen Level 2 me's but! Oh, you did beat Super Saiyen Level 2 me's but, but you haven't..." blah blah blah. Sorry to hate on the guy, but I always felt Goku was far more goofy and cheesy than Superman could ever be. With Superman, though he has "unlimited power" supposedly, there's really only so much energy he should be able to get from a yellow sun before he has to find a white dwarf or something to get more power. With Goku, no matter what, there always seems to be some dorky "Super Saiyen Level" waiting in the wings to be unleashed. What's he up to now, level 7 or 8? I used to love both characters, but Dragon Ball Super has made me genuinely despise Goku as an utterly loathsome self-serving sociopath completely apathetic to any and all harm his actions bring to others. Superman is a better husband who has actually kissed his wife and a father who was present for his son's birth and remembers his birthday in addition for possessing the emotional capacity and maturity to actually CARE about others. Goku has canonically NEVER kissed his wife as confirmed in the Super manga when asking Vegeta what a kiss is and had to have it explained to him because he and Chi-Chi never kissed once despite being married for years and having two sons (which raises darkly disturbing questions regarded informed consent within their marriage), wasn't present for Goten's birth (fair because he was conceived ~the 10 day waiting period leading up to the Cell Games), but he confirmed that he ALSO wasn't present for Gohan's birth, either despite having been alive and well during peace time while he and Chi-Chi were living alone after they married after his fight with Piccolo Jr. after the end of that World Martial Arts tournament and Gohan was around 4 years old by the time he reunited with his friends at Kame House in Chapter 1 of Dragon Ball Z meaning he had NO valid excuse for that one and also doesn't know either of their birthdays in addition to him revealing upon Bulma going into labor with Bulla that he has no idea as to how babies are born, either (which again brings us back to the disturbing question of informed consent regarding he and Chi-Chi's prior reproductive activities), then there was the Tournament of Power which he didn't know about despite Beerus literally threatening to erase him from existence if he reminded Zeno, did it anyway and was told that all of the losing Universes would be erased from existence and he didn't feel the slightest shred of remorse or concern when Bergamo was (justifiably) outraged after he just gleefully gloated that he was "Gonna beat y'all!" showing his utter lack of regard for the lives of others as long as his stupid monkey brain could get some punch-punch action before the writers had to retcon the ToP always having been the plan before he reminded Zeno and supposedly gave the other Universes a 'fighting chance' as a weak attempt to justify his selfish amorality because Akira Toriyama was just THAT pressed about him being portrayed as 'heroic' in any capacity (despite he, himself having written Goku as going out to collect the seven Dragon Balls solely to revive Bora, Upa's father after he was murdered by Tao Pai Pai despite having known them for less than a day) because he has a 'poison' inside of him and has never been deliberately morally upstanding or altruistic with that purely being a byproduct of him selfishly trying to get whatever HE wants.

Goku has friends, human friends who trained with him that far succeed what a normal human can do. Focusing on specific details is irrelevant as opposed to focusing on the holistic views between the Superman Universe and the DBZ Universe. Reason being, for Superman, being a just and moral compass is due to his upbringing, his parents. Same goes for Goku. During Goku's upbringing he was surrounded by moral and just individuals, hence why the two are considered the moral protagonist.
