I see there is a bit of confusion .. regarding Miss India & Miss Universe .. so yaa Sushmita won Miss Universe 1994 pageant and before that she even won Femina Miss India 1994 in which Sushmita & Aishwarya both participated .. ❤ P.S: apologies for not including Miss Universe pageant in the video, but it wasn't intentional just that she was only 18 years old when she won her first pageant which was Miss India hence focused on that and for me both the titles are of equal importance..💛

She was very clear with her thoughts from the beginning. In an interview with Komal nahata in 2009, when she was asked by interviewer that why she is doing so less films. Her answer was same. To jawab to shuru se ek hi tha. Bas aapne dekha nahi. Jinhonne dekha hai unhe pata hai. Isiliye itne positive comments aate hai Sush ke videos par.

I think Sushmita Sen entered Bollywood in the wrong era. Had she being born in the late 90s she would have been a hitmaker. Even if you go through her film choice you would realise that she always worked on scripts which had a message or a different storyline and never played a damsel in distress like her peers. Even in Biwi No. 1 where she played the other woman it was made sure that the message came through that Salman's character was the actual villain which is a bold move in the 90s. Very wrong timing I must say!

How you forget to mention miss universe title? She is first miss universe from India and it was a proud moment. Her acting career is not bad, it's moderate. You forgot to mention Maine pyar kyu kiya which was a hit movie and people love her dance in "laga laga re" song. The kind of movies she had done in her career was the main reason. Look at the movie list of hit actresses of that era, they have done all male oriented movies and that's why those films were hit (except kya kahna). Sushmita chooses movies like Samay, filhaal, paisa vasool, chingari, zindagi rocks and many more which are woman oriented movies. The audiences were not ready at that time for woman oriented films. Now things have been changed after Fashion, dirty picture and Queen. And that's the reason people love her web series Aarya. You also forgot to mention that she won best actress filmfare award (OTT) for Aarya. She won mother teresa award for her social work. She is also a recipient of Rajiv Gandhi national award. And plus she always mentioned in her interviews that she never wants to be an actress and films are not her priority. So don't judge her as an actress. She is diva and people love her because of the person she is, not because of how good actress she is. I am her die heart fan and I love her as a person as well as an actor .

People don't seem to remember that back then Sushmita used to be trolled for being "darker". And while Aishwarya was loved by the entire country for being the beauty with the blue eyes (and the whole country had been rooting for her to win the Miss India pageant) Sushmita was the outsider who snatched it away. A lot of people weren't happy about it. Also, Sushmita didn't have the foothold and the proper network that would give her the opportunity to work in better films. Her film roles were never the kind to be taken seriously. Whereas Aishwarya would be offered really good roles, and a lot more opportunities. I personally don't think Aishwarya is a natural actress either, I don't know if people will agree to that. She tends to overact a lot, unless she's given proper directions.

@Kungkung Rai Having this opinion doesn't make me a hater automatically you know. I've watched and enjoyed both their movies, and just think that there have been unfair comparisons in the past . What happens with either one of their lives, doesn't affect me in any way. I just personally prefer one's acting/general demeanor to the other's. This video talks about Aishwarya improving her craft and Sushmita not being able to do so, whereas I think that they're both on par (I prefer Sushmita's acting to Aishwarya's) - but opportunities have been disproportionate. Just because I prefer one to the other, doesn't mean I'm a hater :)

When someone wins a beauty pageant they become famous, this in turn leads to their PR being boosted. In Bollywood PR>acting skills and before thei debut film a buzz is created. ( Even in Hollywood beauty pageant winners venture into acting, but it is not as common as Bollywood)

Sushmita even had to put a lote of effort to adopt her first daughter. She had to fight a case in court or something cuz of the laws at that time. Even after adopting people were saying shit about her like it was a publicly stunt but she didn't gave a damn & that's what differentiate her from others.

The height thing is true. I remember those days. In fact in one of her movie ( don’t remember the name) as a parody, where she plays an actress…there this song sequence where the hero’s hands re tied and she has to dance around him with villains watching, so to compensate the height difference, the ground is dug and she dances there, whereas the hero is in an elevation…and camera was placed in angle to make it look they were of same height
