Ironically enough, this year's winners proved that mentality false - maybe to a fault. Icon Glenn Close lost for like the 500th time and the African-American and deceased Boseman didn't get it for those reasons, to the man who actually deserved it. I'm happy no quotas were filled just for its own sake, like when Halle Berry won, to be frank.

1. Sure. I personally saw most of the films nominated for multiple Oscars but that was mostly out of obligation, and I’m the exception. Most people didn’t see these movies. 2. Sure, to an extent. I thought The Father was incredible and should have won Best Picture honestly. Minari, Judas and The Black Messiah, Sound of Metal, Nomadland, Another Round, One Night in Miami, and Soul were all great, but aside from Soul, Tenet (which was decent), and maybe Promising Young Woman (which was overrated AF), very few if any of the winners/nominees were actually popular or known to the public’s eye. Shame, really. 3. 100% YES. The ceremony was boring, stale, unprofessional, and anticlimactic in every way. I couldnt even finish watching it, and I watched the last four ceremonies all the way through. 4. I actually disagree. I saw the two ceremonies that had Jimmy Kimmel… he wasn’t funny in the slightest and actually kept stopping the ceremony to a screeching halt every time he talked. I did not miss him this year or the last two years with no hosts. I don’t think the lack of a host was a problem this year. Also to add; they for some reason didn’t show any clips and instead talked about the performances and achievements in such boring ways.

@@LinkMarioSamus No, it's not a double standard. You're actually helping to illustrate my point. First, Conservative celebrities don't talk politics at the Awards shows (thank goodness). They know that they would get booed off the stage and probably never work again. Gina Carano was fired for a comment that she shouldn't have been fired for. And she didn't make it at an Awards show. In fact, the majority of the time, Conservative celebrities are closet conservative celebrities. They are afraid of getting canceled and ostracized in Hollywood. Kevin Sorbo is a conservative who just can't seem to find work now. They tried to cancel Chris Pratt just because he goes to church. He's never even suggested that he's a conservative. Debra Messing and Eric McCormack asked for a list of anyone who voted for Trump. I am a minority race female who faced plenty of racism twenty years ago, but really not since. The worst thing about the Oscars is that the movies that get nominated are the pet projects of the actors and not the movies that THE PEOPLE are interested in seeing. The movies that the people want to see--the action movies and romantic dramas--are done begrudgingly by the actors to fund the pet projects, so it's no surprise that the Oscars (and other award shows) are getting less popular.

The saddest part was to not see the songs performed live in the broadcast, and of course, that the winning song (as in many of the categories, besides the big ones) was handed or voted for social issues rather than quality in itself. Husavik was the favourite and should have won
@cineflect3 жыл бұрын
That would've definitely livened up the ceremony and made the broadcast more of a show. "Husavik" is a beautiful song, especially the performance with the children choir.

This still should’ve been at the Dolby. I understand empty seats, but a great production team can do wonders with camera angles. Not only was lead actor last, but it was presented by Phoenix. New lead actor ALWAYS gets presented by last year’s lead actress. And vice versa. Maybe Phoenix showed up late. I dunno…average Oscar show. On to the Dolby next year.

Once I watched the Oscars telecast, and afterwards I thought that was the best Oscars show I've seen in a long time. This was in 2009. I watched the annual event a few more times, then figured it wasn't worth sitting through anymore. Most of the Oscar shows I ever saw were disappointing or problematic in some way or another. My usual gripe has been "Why don't they show a scene from EVERY nominee, including the short films?" Certain categories often have nominees names spoken and that's it, then you see someone getting an award for a work you don't know if it exists.

Three Major additional mistakes they made: 1) Move the Oscar's from March to May 2) Barely advertise when they were - I woke up the day after the Oscars to a few of my friends saying how bad the ceremony was and wondered when they had been on. 3) Nominate films that were not widely available. I've been trying to see Promising Young Woman for about 9 months and couldn't find it (we don't have all the streaming platforms). It used to be that the nominated movies were everywhere, so even if you hadn't seen them, you knew about them. If streaming is to continue the way it is now, the academy needs to ensure the nominees are from films that are generally available.
