Thanks for the supporting words! Just out of curiosity, why do you want to switch out from the Land Rover Discovery? Out of the three, I would say Volvo XC60 is more on the comfortable side. I'm a bit wary of the engine though, because it has a hybrid, turbo AND supercharger (depending which engine you get), which makes an already very complex piece of componentry even more complex; thus, concerns with reliability if you were to get this engine. But I would say the high-points is the awesome Android auto with integrated Google Maps, Bower and Wilkins sound system, and premium interior quality. What I didn't like though; is the climate controls on the infotainment display - it's pretty annoying to use. Eg: If you turn on the defrost fans, it goes on at high speed. You then have to navigate through a series of menus on the infotainment screen to turn the fan speed down, which is kind of annoying. You can also use Google Voice to turn down the fan speed as well, which is pretty cool, but still not as quick as just having buttons and dials on the center console. I haven't driven the X3, but any BMW that you drive will tend to feel very stiff / harsh, but very responsive and quick to react on throttle and steering demand. So if you're an eager driver and want some "umph" on the road, this is it. I also have not driven the Mercedes GLC, but in terms of the brand itself, I would say they sit in between the two. @@vex123 it’s a 2018 manufacture LR dicso . The quality of the interiors is not upto the competition like the German rivals . It’s a great suv to drive through . I live in the Darjeeling Himalayas and to go for test drive I would need to drive 1000 Km away

@@floraexoticsfloraexotics Wow! I just googled some images of Darjeeling - the place looks amazing, and I would love to visit one day! And yes, the Germans / Swedish manufacturers really know how to dial in their interior! And if you want something that is still really fun to drive on the road, I think the BMW X3 will be a good choice. And this is not German, but I also just recently did a review on the 2022 Acura MDX. It probably won't match up to the same quality interior you're looking for, but it drives really well, and has proven Honda-reliability behind its powertrain. Volvo is way better than lexus and Acura genesis still the safest brand imo and the quality is top notch, the looks is so classy nothing too much.. the prestige you get owning it, yes there not that reliable but with good maintenance they won’t break down.. but I feel like they need to just go fully Elyria instead of being hybrids

For sure! Every brand has their own competing edge. Lexus typically lacks innovation, but they take the effort to perfect their technology and they have a bombproof hybrid powertrain that everyone is raving about. Acura is more about sportiness. And yes, Volvo's edge is built around top notch quality and exquisite design. Volvo is also coming out with more and more electric models. I test drove the XC40 all-electric and it was amazing! Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on that again to do a more thorough review.

good review. after agonising between the XC60 and the BMW X3 Hybrid, I am now the proud owner of a brand new 2022 Volvo XC60 T8 Recharge. My only complaints are that it does not come with Apple CarPlay (Volvo promises it'll be available soon), ParkAssist that previous models had, and a space to place a [small] tissue box that the driver can reach. Also the vanity mirror for the passenger is a bit off centre.

Thank you for the supporting words! It means a lot to me, and above all, congrats on being an owner of the XC60! I've driven over hundreds of cars over the last 8 years, and Volvo cars are definitely amongst one of my favorites. But yes, there are a few quirks with the XC60. What I personally didn't like was the climate controls - the windshield tends to fog up easily, and when you push the defrost button, the fan goes full blast. Then you have to navigate through a maze of menus on the infotainment system to turn the fan speed back down - it's compromise for climate controls built into the infotainment touchscreen in general though. Hopefully Volvo will release support for Apple CarPlay for Iphone users soon. Also, if you didn't know, you can use Google Voice to turn on and off the climate controls, which is really cool! Give it a try next time if you haven't :)

It's ridiculous that the air suspension would give a less plush ride than the standard springs! Why pay so much more money for it then? It's not supposed to be a sports car.

Yes, the air suspensions feel a bit more "bouncier" than conventional spring dampers, but I forgot to mention that they have the advantage of raising or lowering the ride height for increased ground clearance / lowering for ease of access especially for loading the trunk bed. I wouldn't say the ride quality is bad - just slightly different and gives you a bit more adjustability. But you're right. It doesn't make sense and isn't as practical for a crossover to have air suspensions imo. It makes a lot more sense for big trucks that need extra ground clearance on construction sites, and less on road driving for improved fuel economy and cargo loading (you can check out my Ram1500 review if you want to learn more on the practical applications of air suspensions).

@@vex123 Thanks. I never understood the benefit of lowering the suspension by like 5cm to help with loading. By the time you wait for the suspension to slowly lower, you would have thrown all your things in with just a tiny bit more effort!

Volvo isn't compatible with iPhone- I have a 2019 XC90 r design and this was a deal breaker. Plus the tech is still sketchy, nothing has been updated besides the weird crystal ball shifter which is a pain. Sadly I'm getting a Lexus NX sport instead. Volvo better get with the times

I feel ya! Definitely a bad move to shut out Iphone users for sure. Congrats on getting the Lexus NX! How are you liking it so far? All automakers have their own competitive advantaged in order to compete with one another. I would say Volvo's would be their interior Swedish design, rock solid chassis and somewhat technologically advanced powertrain with their B6 engine that incorporates a turbocharger, supercharger and mild hybrid subsystem and their upcoming EV lineup. Their Volvo XC40 EV was absolutely insane (400hp dual motor). They also have full Android Auto built right into the infotainment system. So that means you get Google maps and google voice assist which is really convenient. But definitely can't blame you for getting a Lexus NX! Lexus competitive advantage is continued refinement towards perfection and fuel efficient powertrain. The caveat to that is you sacrifice new tech and innovation by continuing to improve your own existing platform over time. This is probably the reason why their Supra uses a BMW engine because they don't have enough R&D resource. Definitely not a bad thing because newer is not always better! And I also personally love Lexus cars and their quiet and comfortable interior.
