Just got my 1st bow... hit my forearm about 6 times in the first 2hrs, smarts to say the least... I needed this video, thank you!!

The death grip also causes the forearm muscle to flex making it stick out further...easier target 😮

Thanks so much for this. I just got a bow for the first time and it does hurt lol. I will try these out tomorrow. Very clear and precise instructions

1. Use a bow wrist sling so you can have a proper loose grip on the bow and don't grab it out of fear of dropping it. 2. Wear an arm guard. When my wife was in school she tried archery but no arm guard. It only took one string slap and she abandoned the sport forever. For seasoned archers, it prevents anticipatory flinching from the ocassional string slap. 3. At full draw when aiming, I think about gently pulling my elbows apart. Bow elbow down and out, and draw elbow up and back. This keeps the forearm out of the way, is good for proper T form and back tension, and keeps the bow shoulder down for better biomechanical advantage (a shrugged up bow shoulder is bad form).

Wear an arm guard. Especially when the temperature is really cold and you wear heavy clothing.wear the arm guard on the outside so if the string slaps something it is the guard and not a puffy sleeve.

Well said, too many times do i watch people turn themselves black and blue simply because they just dont know what theyre doing. Or theyre not relaxing that front shoulder and they got theyre arm fully extended

My forearm is burned. I think I was jerking as I was shooting (maybe my arm would come forward) Focus on releasing helped. The recurve is not as easy as a compound/quick release

I'm almost sure that everyone has a different lifeline pattern. Some are very similar, but some are drastically different. Think is best just to say, rest it against the but of the meat of the thumb.

He keeps talking about a bow. I don't see a bow in the video. All I see is some kind of weird mechanical contraption. Is it some kind of medical device or something?

@@bowhuntordie I keep on seeing comments on how compounds are the devil of archery, when in reality, they shoot the same as a recurve. I once had someone call what I was shooting a "machine"...I don't see the opposite though, I don't see compound shooters making fun of the recurve shooters...don't know if they're jealous of our equipment or what....
