I agree... and I don't want her to go to the WNBA... ever! I love watching her play, but I DO NOT watch the WNBA (under any circumstance), so her decision to go pro was a sad day for me. I wish her nothing but success and greatness. I just think she's gonna face a ton of hate in the WNBA, mainly because she's heterosexual, and if I recall Sue Bird (LGBTQ) is her mentor, so she'll be the first trying to push CC to crossover. CC is also white and getting a lot of prestige, praise, and publicity, so that's not gonna be accepted. I hope she has a solid support system (which I believe she does).

The WNBA loses money every year, there is no way they can pay anything near what Caitlin makes in college. Caitlin just plays her game. She's getting heat for being articulate, classy, straight white woman. She's a young woman who does it right. She'll graduate with a degree and a 3.7 GPA. In interviews she deflects praise to her teammates family, coaches. Signs autographs for the kids long as much as she can after a game. She is a great representative for her university and her state.

First of all this whole cultural following you were talking about isn’t true with everyone, of course. My wife and I love MJ , watched every game. I was a Boston fan to begin with, never watched college. But when MJ arrived on the scene, Chicago fan all the way. Watched till he was done and we haven’t watched since. Never really watched golf till Tiger came on the scene. Not big on tennis myself, but my wife loved the William sisters. We had great men’s players here at Iowa. Players like Roy Marble, BJ Armstrong and basically the Murray family. C Vivian Stringer was our coach here for the women when we went to our first final four. It’s character in people we look for and follow, always has been. Pushing this your culture my culture garbage on every site you read is exhausting. I recognize greatness when I see it, I don’t care who they are. I’ve always been an Iowa fan, it’s different here. I believe Caitlin is a great player, maybe the best. But what makes me follow her is the same thing that makes me follow other great athletes, and that’s the character.

People should watch her interview where she talked about all that a year ago on Dan Patrick. She pretty much said NIL wouldn't factor into her decision, even though most of those deals go with her anyway as they're longer term. The short W season actually leaves her a lot more time than college has for some of the opportunities she'll have. With the first pick being Indy, the way her and Aliyah get along, it's proximity to Iowa, and oh yeah, Connor is there lol sure would be a lot of tempt besides fulfilling her childhood dream of playing in the W.

She’ll carry most if not all endorsements into the WNBA. Also, I believe the league and the media has realised, watching her draw record crowds). They will lay out the red carpet for her because she has the game and off court demeanour to draw those record crowds in that league. Also, the WNBA is going to renegotiate its TV deal in 2025. If they can draw big crowds they’ll be able to negotiate from a position of strength. I would conjecture she’ll be the rookie of the year, MVP and all star in her first yea. A large part of this will be because of her game and partly with help from the league to get that big TV deal.

Steve and Aaron have actually overstated the pay in the WNBA. Player salaries in the WNBA are structured very similar to those of the NBA, but the revenue of the league is drastically different. The TEAM salary cap in the WNBA is $1.46 mil and a super max contract in the WNBA is $241K and the earliest I think you could make that is 5 years into your WNBA career. Like the NBA, rookie salaries are dictated by when you get picked. This year a top 4 draft pick will make $76k. There isn't a mechanism in place for the league to increase CC's salary despite the huge following she brings everywhere she goes. Financially, it makes no sense for Clark to go to the WNBA.

Winners always get hate. They're getting a lot of positive attention, and with that always come extra haters who just don't like seeing people excel. They feel the need to tear them down. Some right wing incel on Twitter today said she's actually male... Because that seems to be an obsession with the right lately is trans anything. So, any woman who's abnormally large, muscular or just athletic they get automatically labeled as a dude who transitioned instead of being given their props for all the hard work it took to become as good as they are. The Clark hate is pathetic. That being said I've thrown out a bit of my own hate because I know what's coming. She's going to pass pistol pete and ppl will make a big deal about it...... she's not and never will be a better player or even scorer than pete. Pete averaged nearly 45 ppg nd set his mark in only 3 years without a 3 point line and against men. The women's game is getting better but let's not act like the competition across the board is the same as its ever been on the men's side.
@teamfusionracing
@teamfusionracing 4 ай бұрын
Pete was great. But he was the definition of ball hog with his dad as coach, shooting 38 times a game vs less than 20 for Clark. Almost twice as many shots per game than anyone else on the scoring list. Simply the volume of shots, and making 11 free throws per game. THAT is why he scored 44 a game and set the mark in just 3 years while only shooting 43%. Lost a ton of games taking 40 shots. But he was still a great player...amazing ball skills and gift for shooting. If you watch Iowa play... you can see that if they wanted Caitlin to average 38 shots a game, she could... and would likely average 45-50 just like any game where she has put up 30+ shots. This year...her 4 highest scoring games... she averaged 45 points on 30 shots and almost 8 assists. She could do that all the time. She has a dozen games scoring over 40 and never took more than 31 in any of them. The men's game is the men's game. Nobody is saying Clark is better than Pete...or Steph, etc... literally..... but maybe the best to ever do it, given the competition. I mean really... that should be obvious. But you gotta know... Pete didn't play against the best back in that day in the SEC... not like today.

And yet, despite everyone knowing he was shooting that much his percentages were barely under Clark's. I hate when ppl bring up total shots without giving it context. You ever consider he took all the shots cuz the team sucked? If it was pete that sucked why was he a good pro too?
@teamfusionracing
@teamfusionracing 4 ай бұрын
@@bwl57 Clark has a significant advantage in shooting percentage. Overall 48% vs 43%.. and that is with her crazy shot chart. Inside of 23' she's over 50%. PP rarely shot it from beyond 20-22'. He was a great player and could hit shots from all over... but his "game" was the midrange and in the lane. Like Jordan, he could torch you without the 3 point game.... mid range and at the rim especially. If he had 3 pt line... a lot of those 17-20 jumpers become 22-23' behind the line... and the shooting percentage probably drops a bit more, just like it does for everyone else. So that 43% is probably 40%. In his 68 point game... almost all his shots were either in the lane/layups... or 17' jumpers from the "perimeter"

Caitlin would put wnba on the map!! With the young talent coming up in womans b-ball, in a couple years fans and sponsors will love wnba, increasing the salaries for all wnba players!! As it is wnba will die a slow death and fade from memory!!

This debate is SOOOOO STUPID. Ppl have their right to voice their opinion even if it’s different from yours. If he dont think Clark is the goat he has that right. Y’all are making it hard to like Clark now.

Uh, no one is claiming "rights" there Einstein, theyre pointing out biased, and/or racist, and/or stupid takes. See, that's what this is - a discussion. Sorry you're butthurt that someone disagrees with a stupid take that you might agree with.

Its just sad that WNBA is the "next level". That league is not welcoming to players like her. We all know that. I really don't wanna see Clark playing for college next season but im so excited to see her in Pros. So Europe maybe? WNBA is charity league anyway 🤷

EXAMPLE. She talked shit to Indiana's head coach, while our coach was trying to have a conversation with a referee. After one of our players said something to a referee she yelled at our player to shut up. The refs do absolutely nothing. She should have had 20 technicals this year. She's an incredible player but she needs to learn some fucking respect

Because she's a ball hog, chucks up too many missed shots, and Iowa plays in a weak conference.

Lost to two ranked teams, and about to lose to OSU again. That's why. White skinned America loves a white girl playing in a B-ball sport that is dominated by black girls. Gamecocks, baby!!!!
