I think the statement you read at the beginning of the video said all but "we won't be shipping the device that was leaked as it was nothing more than a prototype", I'd love to be proven wrong but it was odd for Elektron to come out publicly to address it, they've never done so with recent leaks (Digitakt 2 for example when a lot of retailers leaked it early). A lot of the Elektron sequencing flow is Tracker inspired, trig conditions and step components are certainly products of the workflow. Ess speaks to that in some interviews and his shared love for LSDJ on Gameboy (and guess who helped work on the OP-1, Machinedrum, and MonoMachine!). Jesper also has early history with Elektron - it's fun how intertwined these two great companies are with each other.

If you like the op-z’s sequencer you’ll probably enjoy the Elektron’s as well. You don’t get as many one-button midi fx like the op-z, but you can recreate them using electrons trig locks and the weird math all their sequencers share. Their sound is really nice too, full and fat and juicy.

It's pronounced 'Peest'. The Piste is any ski-run so going off-piste means skiing in the woods etc or going off script

If you might pick this up when it drops and u have a connect, u should definitely get a Digitone to get familiar. Whatever this new Elektron drop may be FM or Wavetable based, the Digitone is a great way to learn Elektron synths.
@KhordmasterАй бұрын
wuddup!!! that's a good idea... although I think I will just wait for this to drop and learn this and make some content with it... it looks like it would be a lot of fun! you considering getting one?
@HhyperspaceАй бұрын
@@Khordmaster I can wait plus I know that price is going to be pricey. The Syntakt was pricey when it dropped and in the end it didnt suit me. I regret selling my Digitone tho.

If we were givern the perfect all in one they would never sell other units in bulk. Tonverk looks interesting.

not sure what you mean exactly, but yeah this does look REALLY cool... Im intrigued!

Thanks for the video. Can you recommend a user friendly device where I can make electronic beats and hip hop? Thanks

Thanks for watching! What’s your budget?
@angrychivafanАй бұрын
Thanks for responding. Currently $300 but willing to spend more if it’s worth it. I was very interested in the Drumbrute but wanted to know if there was something else that can also use samples, sequence, and built in synth like the MPC KEY 37. I’m new at this but it’s difficult to make a choice when there’s so many to choose from. Thanks again for your help.

@@angrychivafan got ya... I have a proposition for you... my immediate recommendation would be my favorite sequencer, the OP-Z ... and using it with a midi keyboard would be a great idea... text me at 908-256-8003 or email me at kevin.allen815@gmail.com if you're interested in chatting

A used mpc live 1 is, imo, your best bet, I see one at guitar center now for 400, or if you might find an mpc one for that price. Sp404 mk2 is a close second but you don’t get much for synths on one of those. I really love the op-z but have a harder time making hip hop with it compared to the others.

@@Khordmaster digitone taught me all the musical modes and keys as they have guides within the machines and I love the digitone keys as well for ambient orchestral atmospheres ( I have both that’s how much I love it ) I love syntakt as main groovebox workstation . My go to setup for most recordings these last years is model:cycles > digitone > digitakt > syntakt . Usb class compliance and trig conditions are so helpful and if you’re comfortable with the OP-Z workflow it’s a little different but sincerely worth the learning curve . Coming from an live improvised electribe background elektron expanded the possibilities of live improvised seamless non stop performances and also made we rethink and learn new creative processes . I think the tonwerk will a good one for chords and Melodies and would recommend the digitone if you like fm synthesis they’re beautiful presets and it’s not hard to morph sounds form simple sine waves to detailed fine tuned textures and sound designs . They’re a whole ecosystem . I also have the analog rytm and analog four but I use them on special occasion or with another band before I had my baby . (They take lots of space so they are mostly at the studio full time since my home studio got turned into my two year old daughters room . They are amazing as well . As I was deep diving in the elektron realm and was learning the OP-Z you inspired me to get a ob_4 and now about to finally record an album 💿 with op z koii, nanoloop & the elektron rig . Digitone is limited to 8 voices . All elektrons have limitations that unify them well as a ecosystem like teenage engirneering do so well . Different workflows but equally fun to create with . Tonverk will be ideal from what it seemed for harmonious musical compositions. Model:cycles is a go to because it feels like modeling clay the way it was designed . Samples as well but do more sound design from scratch than sampling at the moment . I will get the analog heat at some point . A simple setup i did live was tp~7 thru syntakt and now with the looper and cues update it’s such a game changer (especially while jamming on the ob-4 ; )
