​@@lillyie what you have to realize is, Dottore was here first. His morality, or at least that one specific segment's, was laid bare in the Webtoon long before the game came out. That was out first impression of the Harbingers. If anything, in typical gacha fashion, they've tried to make them increasingly grey because they think that it sells more. Wanderer is still not chill with the traveller and he's far and away the most controversial character amongst certain loser crowds.

At this point in Genshin's story we don't have any real antagonist or great enemy to fight against. The fatui would've been a perfect villain group but for the sake of playability they have to be somewhat likeable

@@cyntdestroyer69xd ehhh... good parent is questionable. Would she go to war for her children? Yes. Does she keep Dottore FAR FAR away from her children? Also yes, thank god. But she also does raise her children as child soldiers too. She singlehandedly has churned out a probably uncomfortably high number of Fatui soldiers, and an equally uncomfortable number of corpses of children who died on missions because they got in over their heads. Is she better than Crucabena? ABSOLUTELY, but then again the bar with Crucabena is at the Earth's core so it is not hard to be better than Crucabena. Is Arlecchino a good Father? I would argue no, not really. Now again we could argue that she probably realised once the Tsaritsa pardoned her that if she went all 'fuck the Fatui' and attempted to flee with the children who managed to survive Crucabena another Crucabena would probably be crowned and run Teyvat's biggest child soldier machine so Peruere figured it would be better if she was the Father rather than Mother 2.0 coming in, but that doesn't change the whole child soldiers thing and make it somehow 100% okay. We can argue Peruere did the best she could with the really shitty situation dropped in her lap though. Now thanks to her the children can actually defect from the House and live normal lives having forgotten all the horrors of their past.

I dont remember whether or not it was specified, but theres a high chance those kids would either be dead, and grow up in slimes. As Takemura from Cyberpunk said - "Arasaka gave me food, roof over my head, discipline, and principles." Is it better than conventional parenthood? Fuck no! But I dont think thats really an option to choose for them. Its on Tsaritsa's shoulders that the children become Fatui soldiers. As for Arlecchino herself - I think she does her job fine. Really strict parent, but also she never raised hands on her children - as someone whom grew up with "relaxed' grandparents, if not even helicopter, tbh - I can say that strictness, without resorting to abuse, wouldnt hurt to nobody, especially if theirs future is to have such an unsavoury and thankless job

I don't know if that's hoyo's intention, but its very fitting considering majority of the harbingers have this "every man for himself' sort of mindset as well as their own drive to their personal goal.

You know what, you are right, but not entirely. Childe is still centered around hydro being an enabling element, thus he is an enabler for international, and his DPS is pretty solid but heavily reliant on mob combat. Wanderer fits the statement, but not Arlecchino, since you could expect pyro to be a really offensive focused element which arlecchino is, including atk scaling. The harbingers still have unique mechanics to their kits not particularly shared with non-harbingers. Childe has two stances that changes the form of his burst and only intentional quadratic scaling dps/enabler with cooldown penalty mechanic. Scaramouche is first flying dps where elements ultimately affects different portions of his kit, and he does damage with his dodges. Arlecchino can't be healed within combat and has elemental infusion tied to a Bond of Life meter rather than set duration so she is of the only modern characters to keep elemental infusion after swapping off. I wonder what Capitano will bring to the table. Maybe he will be dual-element dps, between physical and cryo with shared dmg bonus passive between cryo and physical dmg bonus and maybe turning superconduct into cryo res shred.

My personal interpretation is: Capitano feels like pure, unadulterated power. Dottore is gonna have have moderately strong power, but basically makes use of dirty tricks and his clones to gain an advantage. Columbina is going to be similar to Arlecchino, with weird powers that we don't understand, outside of our comprehension and unable to deal with it because nothing exists in this world that resembles it or counters it in any way, but maybe if we get our former strength back like the Abyss Twin, we might be able to deal with it. Question is if we still want to by that time in the story

Honestly it's crazy how long Genshin is cooking it's story. 6 regions in and only 3 Harbingers released. Besides the archons and the fatui, we don't really have any other factions that we expect multiple important characters from, besides maybe the knights with the upcoming Varka. Imagine when we start getting the Hexenzirkel witches or the Sinners. By version 12.0 we'll have gone full Honkai with the lovecraftian outer gods turned anime girls

i dont think you mentioned how greedy they are with all of them being onfield and able to be on for longer than cyno besides wanderer but he’s kinda left the harbingers so nahida is teaching him to not be greedy it gives a pretty good story aspect in it like how arlecchino can technically be on field all the time but can go off field so her children can have the spot light when needed and without much loss in dps and there’s childe who can be on field for the longest duration in game (except for people who have inf dps duration) because he wants to fight everyone and anyone

anyone noticed how there’s rarely any battle freaks in games/anime who are ranged like there’s childe, black clover’s luck, wuwa’s camellya, hxh’s hisoka, the only battle freak that i can think of as ranged is maybe gaara from the chunin exam arc of naruto (ik childe is technically a bow character, luck has ranged spells, and hisoka throws buingee gum & cards a lot but both tartag and luck would rather be in close & their range is mostly to cover their own ranged weaknesses & hisoka would rather get in close & only use range when deceiving his enemies)

It is kinda implied. Generally speaking, if you like speciphically fighting, instead of just hurting people, chances are you enjoy taking hits as much as you enjoy delivering them. And you are going to get more of both if you get close and personal. There are plenty of sniper characters that are very proud of their skill and so all sort of trickshots just to see if they can, but you won't identify them as "battle maniacs" speciphically.

Just a reminder that Harbingers are in fact, ranked by strength in combat, there's absurd amounts of evidence for it, from implicit to straight up explicit statements. Dottore is said to be ranked second due to his combat ability alone. Nahida says that the top three harbingers have power comparable to that of gods, yet again correlating higher ranking with power. The fatui in Mondstadt attribute Signora's death to perhaps her strength being insufficient enough to remain a harbinger, and talk about the possibility of the 8th seat being replaced with someone stronger. The fatui are said to have the strongest military, with the harbingers being said to be what lets the Tsaritsa do as she pleases across teyvat, very clearly indicating that harbingers are supposed to be associated with strength. Capitano is almost only praised for his strength, and is ranked 1st. Yae implies that Scara is stronger than Signora because of his rank being higher. Wanderer's character stories literally use harbinger rankings as a measuring stick for his unsealed power by saying that he was on par with the lower ranked harbingers after his power was unsealed by Dottore. This wouldn't be a logical thing to say if rankings weren't primarily based on strength. Traveler says “I wanna see for myself as to what the 4th of the 11 Fatui harbingers can do” right as he was going to engaging in a duel with her, indicating that higher ranking = combat strength. Lastly, Dainsleif in Arle’s collected miscellany says that the 4th seat is the most direct affirmation of Arle’s combat abilities. Yet again, showing that the Harbingers are primarily based on strength. Saying that the Harbingers could be ranked by influence because some of them don't look like fighters is going against what the game quite literally tells you multiple times, before his reveal Dottore was speculated to be a low ranking Harbinger because "The Doctor" sounds like someone who doesn't even fight, and yet, lo and behold he turns out to be ranked by his combat ability alone while his scientific achievements were ignored completely to rank him.

I wish Childe were a hypercarry because he fits his personnality. He always want to fight in the story, so for me he should have a kit with very high damage and characters who buffs him. But his gameplay is to be a driver for Xiangling who still have a strong burst. At the same time, if he was a hypercarry, he would be directly powercreept since Fontaine. So maybe it was the best choice.

Swirl dmg reaction is abysmal compared to dendro ones

My genuine hope is that they will release Signora or a version of her later into Genshin's lifespan to allow for power creep and fulfill her power fantasy to its fullest Personally, Signora should be a Cryo Catalyst where her Burst turns her into a Pyro hypercarry, but she loses it when switching out. Basically she could literally be either a Cryo or Pyro unit depending on how you build her or what you need. Maybe Pyro makes her lose HP like Xiao or something. Idk, eventually most Gachas like to add units that can utilize multiple elements, and with Chasca being able to solo Swirl, maybe its coming.

They are also mostly background characters tho. Rhinedottir and Nicole are the only ones that are even directly involved with the current storyline with the others just minding their own business. Archons, Harbingers and sovereigns are all much more involved with the traveller journey.

Skirk Shows just much of a class difference their is between people that live in Teyvat and those that come from beyond. Skirk is powerful enough to Fight against the Whale as practice. And she sealed it with ease barely even thought about it. Who's to say what she's like when she gets serious. "harbinger are main villains of the region" Yeah sure, but inazuma didn't need any harbinger/villain. There was already Raiden shogun taking uo that role. Her centuries of unchanged concept of eternity put nothing more than intolerable agony/curse on her own people. Imposement of vision hunt decree was inevitable if for fatui or not, raiden would definitely do similar act. Thanks to traveler and mostly miko for backing up inazumans. Raiden Ei was good but just late on the stage.

The Puppet wouldn't have done a similar Decree as the VHD. The entire reason the VHD came into play was because of certain people's ambitions. Both the Fatui and The Tri commission had goals that benefited themselves rather than the people of the nation. Which is the entire talking point behind the Archon Quest and nearly every single Character Story quest from the region. Ambition can be used for a lot of good things we've seen that. Ambition is the reason The Traveler managed to convince Ei to reconsider in the first place. Without the people of Inazuma ambition being added to the Traveler they would have lost again. But Ambition can also blind you from other things that also matter. That's why for certain people when they lost their Vision they lost who they were. That's why we go to see the First 3 Vision holders without them. That doesn't happen to everyone. Single minded ambition can be good but it can also lead to a lot of harm to be done. That's literally Ei's Entire ARC. Everything else about your life also matters not just what you ultimately wish to achieve.

Wanderer's design and playstyle drove me to save for over an year to actually manage to C6 a character as a low spender who gets monthly welkins and BPs. I like him so much I feel like trying the same for his sig weapon (R2 as of now). When Hoyo feels like it, they make the most appealing characters imaginable... I can only imagine how Mavuika will turn out, with just how hyped up she's been since her reveal as the Pyro Archon.

I get some of the appeal for many of the harbingers thus far. Childe is a battle freak, but he’s not really evil, and is actually pretty chill outside of the whole betraying us in Liyue thing. Scaramuche literally rewrote his very existence to come out (slightly) less of a douche on the other side. Arleccino can be cold and cruel, but she does genuinely care about the children under her care. Capitano is honorable and true to his word. I can even sympathize somewhat with Signora after everything she went through. But I draw the line at Dottore. He literally skipped mad scientist and went straight to psychopath. He’s the one Fatui we’ve met so far with no redeeming qualities at all, and I have to question the judgement of anyone what wants HIM in particular to be playable.

Imagine if Capitano has similar mechanics to Freminet in element application. Like he can do both Physical and Cryo and has a passive that increases Physical Damage and Cryo damage by his attack that caps at 20% each. His Skill would increase attack speed and give him a new normal attack and charge attack, along with coordinated cryo damage once every second on the enemy hit that counts as normal attack damage. That would go so hard so you can choose if you want a reverse melt Capitano with C6 bennet or Xiangling, or a physical hypercarry, or a Cryo Hypercarry with Chongyun.

I'm definitely excited to see more of the Harbingers now that Fontaine and Natlan have shown us a real grey area in them and the Fatui, rather than them just being the mustache-twirling villains they were initially portrayed as. I'm definitely excited to find out what the deal with Columbina is, given the contrast between her appearance and what's been said about her. I'm also right there with you when you mention influence, since Pulcinella and Pantalone don't really seem to be fighters but clearly have immense political and economic influence, respectively. I admit they're cool but I hate how the Fatui always win or always get the gnosis. Like it's just bland story telling whenever you know what exactly is gonna happen every story update so I really really hope they do it differently in Natlan... but I doubt it unfortunately knowing hoyo. Let us get it or have it be just completely destroyed, it's very obvious something along those lines is gonna happen because we gotta get the pryo element somehow and honestly I believe the five star materials we are getting from the faction ranks are gonna be for pyro traveler. "Various other activities" *shows BDSM* Absolute cinema There was a theory that the playable harbingers are on the right side of the table in the pic at the end and the non-playable ones are on the left side. So far this theory checks out, Childe and Arle are playable and Scara is not present at all. I could see capitano making some kind of self-sacrifice at the end of the Natlan archon quest which prevents him from being playable. Though it's hard for me to see a reason for dottore to be playable because to me he seemed like the most clear-cut evil harbinger (still alive) so far
