My G19 gen2 went into service as my on-duty firearm in 1991. In 2013 my job transitioned to the G23. In 2019 the job took away the G23, then issued the G45. As of 2018, my original G19 is back to work on my daughter's hip since it's an approved on-duty weapon at her job. G19 gen2... 22 years in the street, now 2 years in the courts. G19 gen2... I just bought a Glock 19 Gen 2 from a pawn shop for 299. Perfect condition no damage. Didn't come with original tupperware, but it's in such amazing shape! Shot about 100 rounds through it and it's a tack driver, extremely accurate and no problems. So happy I bought it! Also ran the serial numbers and it's from 1994.

I’ve got a 23 gen2 from a pawn shop for $250! I’ve tried running the serial number but there’s no info lol. Thing just keeps chuggin. Only replaced the recoil spring because it had the original two piece spring and rod that separate and was a pain in the dick to put back in lol. I think I’m gonna buy a 19 slide and barrel for it so I can just swap the slides and have two guns

Paul d hold onto that and don’t put too many rounds through it... they have already gone up a fair amount in value. The tenifer “frying pan” finished slides that is. There are multiple slide factory finishes that were released under Gen 3 glock. I can see them continuing to increase in value over the next decade as they take a more vintage or “OG” position in the market.

I was all about 1911's when I was in the military. Then I became a cop and was DISGUSTED when they handed me that G21....at least it was a 45 right? (Tried to give me a G19 at first but I pouted enough that my star corporal relented and gave me a G21 instead....shoulda listened to him). Then I did everything I could to break that gun....and failed, duh! I was a small arms instructor in the Navy and even got to participate in some T&E on new platforms. I am a trained and certified armorer (yes it's on my "I love me wall") and I did things to that 21 that would have made any 1911 I ever owned cough and die and that ugly bastard kept running. The 1911 is the hot blonde you show off to your friends. The Glock is that steady girl who has your back no matter what you can show off to your enemies. Yeah shes got some extra curves on her. But she will always take care of you!

I carried a 1911 for years in the Army. Then the M9. I purchased a used G19 Gen 2 because I could not pass on the price. Wow! I admit openly that the Glock is as about attractive as an old refrigerator in the garage that never quits. The G19 slowly became my conceal carry. I use a kydex trigger guard to prevent any accidental discharge when not carrying in a proper holster. This G19 never has a misfire, failure to feed or eject. As you stated above; My 1911 is like a sexy girl. But the G19 is like the girl you trust to be there, and be ready. I can talk for hours about what I don't like about it, but I'm not getting rid of it either. When in Israel I learned that Israelis are only allowed to own one (1) handgun by law. The top selling handgun in Israel... the G19.

I like your pragmatic approach and i share it. Own a G17 Gen4, +4000 rounds through, full stock except the connector replaced by Glock's minus one and a light manual polishing of trigger group: plenty accurate at 25 meters, NEVER had a malfunction, no complain. When you keep shooting a Glock, you keep learning about your own skills and that 's probably the most important!

funny you have this video. I only recently decided to check on the chronological history of my off duty and now CCW G23/19 (9mm barrel). Been carrying this particular old timer since 2000, made 95' and still going strong! I now have a 357sig bbl also. Been thru So many holsters for it, I have returned to that goofy looking, cheap Really cheap Glock combat holster and been using it for about 11 years now. Leather is gone, shoulder holsters, cross draw, many variants, and I end up with a 14 dollar holster. Great Video! I cannot even guess how many rounds my 23 has endured without breakage until a couple of weeks ago. Actually snapped the disassembly spring and could not get it out of the frame. Glock did a one week ONE WEEK turn around!

My dad gave me a gen 2 glock 23 from 1989 I shoot it all the time and the one problem I’ve had is one stove pipe in some shitty re man ammo. It’s my bed side rider and my going out gun

The gen 3 would probably get my vote as best still today because it’s really just like the gen2 internally but it has the all important light rail which makes it easier to push it into the duty weapon category

Excellent video and I completely agree with everything stated within it... I have owned Glocks from generation 2 through generation 4 and currently the only Glock I still own is a generation 2 g-17. I would love to find a second generation g19 for a decent price in good condition but so far that has not happened

Great video Hop. I work in a gun store in SW PA. We had a Glock 19 gen 2 come in with a shipment a week ago. It was a factory refurb. As a long time fanboy, i had to buy it. I had forgotten how much i loved my original Gen 2 until i took this one to the range.

My duty gun isn't a Gen 2 but it is a Gen 3 G19 and I feel the same. I've been asked before, how come I don't "upgrade".... Uh... Upgrade for what? She's still perfection to this day, and with all the stylish natural wear that you paid extra to have custom fabricated on your safe queen... poser ;-)

My grandpa just passed away and before he died he gave me his service weapon which was a g19 gen2. He was a Marshall in the TBI. Although I prefer my p320 because to me it's more comfortable and I'm more accurate with it but glocks are terrific guns and I'll keep his forever. I do agree gen 2 is the best

Good honest video. Ive been a NRA firearms instructor since 1988 when the plastic gun came out. Colt 1911s, Browning HiPowers, Sigs & Glocks were the only pistols reliably used back then in the police world. Civilians were using whatever their grandfathers gave em . . . As we were training, everything else OTHER than Glocks were giving folks lots of problems on the range during qualifications. Folks didnt really trust Glocks back then - the plastic factor. BUT they hung in their. The G19 came out and changed EVERYTHING. Folks that couldn't qualify with whatever handgun they were using WERE able to qualify with a G19. The Ruger MkII .22 pistols were PERFECT training pistols for teaching marksmanship principles,...then moving NOVICE shooters to a g19 was DRAMATIC. lots of confidence. In a killer caliber. And there yas have it. From the 1980s. THEN in the mids 2000s - the Navy Seals realized the G19 was a G R E A T handgun, -had a standardized picitany rail slot for a light- and the finger grooves & some had the RTF stippling. BETTER than a Sig P226 - GREAT GUN - but the G19 was tougher,... and the G19 exploded. to this present day. THE STANDARD. Buy a fucking Glock & shoot. Ask Clint. DVC.

I own 1 Glock. A Gen 2 Glock22 I bought brand new in 1994. My compact 40 is Star Firestar P40 That I bought around the same time. Both guns work great and I've never felt a need to replace them. It's a shame that Star is no longer in business, but at least Glock is going strong.

All 3 of my Glocks are gen 2, the young man is right, they shoot better as they age but the downside is no ability for a light attachment. It's nice to buy something today that still works and have relevance 30+ years later.

Nice video, Hop- or, 'James'. I love me some Glocks, too. You make a good argument for the gen. 2. I've got gen 3s and gen 4s, and I actually prefer the gen 4. The controversial finger-grooves fit my fingers really well, and I've never had issues that weren't magazine-related (old beat-to-shit OEM Glock mags or Magpul GL9 mags) Thanks again, not Hop.

I have a Gen 2 G19 and I love it. I was hesitant to buy it at first because it had no rail. But it was in mint condition (maybe a couple hundred rounds throught it) and he wanted $350 for it. I bought it anyway and i carry it with a Olight PL2 Valkarie attached to it with some True Glo TFX pro sights on it. Sweet package! The trigger on it is fantastic for a stock trigger. It stays with me lol
