Love the video and love love love ICRPG. I think some people associate rules light and fast play with OSR, which makes some sense when 5e is 2700 pages of core and optional rule books and it is the "light version" compared to Mathfinder.

Very interested in ICRPG. Some really cool mechanics, disruptive thinking in this genre.

I love ICRPG because you can create a character in very little time. I wish I had ICRPG back in the 80's because we'd spend one afternoon simply trying to create a character. You have to understand that all my friends were more in the vein of Lawrence from Office Space. Not great readers.

I loved this interview. Around 33:00 you got onto the topic of OSR means "badass". Indeed it did because not only did we not have the internet back in the 80's and trying to do this ourselves, we were also SHUNNED socially. At best we were nerds, at worst we were dangerous Satanists. We were definitely badass trying to walk this path less traveled. Thank you for the video. It put a smile on my face during my morning commute.

I know Runehammer has Crown and Skull, which looks like a fun system and I’m going to dig into that at some point. But I also like ICRPG and its streamlined system, personally I think that would have a lot of growth for a customer base that doesn’t know about it. I really had no idea, until you really start digging, just how much Runehammer creates.

I also love both My introduction to the GM hobby was the ICRPG Core 2E I found at my LFGS (back in December last year) I have since then bought all Runehammer published books (ICRPG Collector's Edition [really beautiful book I love using if only for the loot at my current tables], Crown and Skull Gold Edition [freaking beautiful book as well which I'm trying to find a group for], Viking Death Squad [which was quite a fun read and would be a good One-Shot system] and all EZD6 books [I'm still waiting for Wasted World but my longest on going campaign {8+ sessions} is with EZD6 so we're having really great fun!]

Talking about streamlined, EZD6 is elegance streamlined for fun and quick play

Oh wow, I listen to your podcast and didnt realise you had a YT channel with actual video (not just the audio and static image like some other YT versions of podcasts). So much great stuff here. I didn’t realise Hankerin wrote under different names (or is Brandish his real name?). Never played ICRPG but on the list (tho probably only in the fantasy world setting). I love how the book looks. I didn’t know about his new one Crown & Skull (but it sounds a little overwhelming at 5 volumes?). To me Old School refers to ‘traditional’ RPGs (as opposed to ‘new’ or ‘modern’ Narrative or Storytelling systems). I also kinda agree with him re game shops being a lot more Magic-centric, but Cons rock man! Anyway, now I need to relisten (=watch) the other podcast/videos 😊

He does write under different names (Brandish Gilhelm, Hankerin Ferinale) not really sure if one of those is his real one, I think not (IIRC he said so in his last recap stream) Crown and Skull Volume 1 (the one that's out) is self-sufficient and very different from other systems I read

Yes, we had TOON back in the late 80s. Also, we mashed Star Frontiers, AD&D, Gamma World, multiverse hopping game with a cheesy Spacehunters/Critters movie vibe. Then Gurps dropped.... Now, as much as I love certain focus games like John Carter, DUNE, Blade Runner, Alians, etc I'd rather have one system with offshoot add ons then whole rule books. Kind of feels like an older way of doing it, but like the fan created Star Wars content for SWADE.
@ReallyDicey8 ай бұрын
What setting are you playing in now?
@gregbanks56248 ай бұрын
@@ReallyDicey Well, we're currently running PF2 Kingmaker, Achtung!Cthulu Africa, and dabbling in several others such as SWADE Deadlands, Cyberpunk, and getting ready to play some Twilight 2K, Coriolis, and maybe Conan or Alien.

I see you're reviewing "master edition" is there a previous, less masterful and more affordable print edition?
