Well, the Japanese lost the Germans, the Italians, and themselves (the Japanese) World War 2, by attacking the Americans at Pearl Harbor (and, thus, dragging the United States into World War 2, in December of 1941, at a time when, all, Germany, Italy, and Japan seemed they were on their way to winning the war). Had they (the Japanese) not made the grave mistake of attacking the Americans, there is a very good chance that the Germans, and the Italians would have won the war against the British, the Soviets, and the Canadians (in Europe, in the Atlantic, and in Africa), and the Japanese would have won the war against the Chinese, the Australians, and the Mongolians (in Asia, and in the Pacific).

@stren geheim well, the actions of the Germans (the occupation of Czechoslovakia, and of Poland), of the Italians (the occupation of Ethiopia, and going to war with the United Kingdom, in Africa), and of the Japanese (the occupation of Manchuria, and going to war with China) caused World War 2; not the actions of the British, and certainly not the actions of the Americans (who, BTW, up until 1941, were leading a policy of isolationism in international affairs).

@@angryzombie8088 and the Mongols would have stomped the japanese if it werent for typhoons. Both pointless what ifs. Also the Mongols had more than 2000 troops, not to mention holding mongolia is a whole different story. Like the us invasion of afghanistan, it would be impossible for the japanese to create a foothold in Mongolia. Harsh winters, rough terrain and guerrila warfare would have been way too costly for the Japanese. The Mongol nomads would simply have to relocate north and have their warriors hit the japanese supply lines. Same tactic the russians used against the nazis.

@@munguntulga You must have forgot, that 500 tanks & 61,000 Soviets from this video is not a What If situation. You are confused, I'm not talking about Mongol Invasion of Japan, I'm talking about WW2. The fact that you refused & failed to understand here is that Soviet contribution is the main deciding factor for the outcome. Mongolia & Afghanistan terrain is completely different, go back & learn some geography.

Good video, thanks, and total respect to the Mongols. Really not enough is commonly known (in the West) about this theatre. As for your 2 questions at the end, you kind of answered them yourself. The fight itself was for resources - which the Russians needed as well - while the reason it went no further was the war on its way in Europe: USSR didn't want to fight on two fronts, Japan also didn't need a fight at their rear once they were forging down into East Asia. As for the speculation, well, you got me thinking on that one.

Here I go again, but I think the tactical and strategic abilities of Soviet generals Zhukov and Schtern, combined with the thousands of Soviet troops and large quantities of Soviet armor, cannon, and aircraft that were present, had a lot more to do with the Japanese loss than the Mongols did.

FWIW, the Japanese horse archers were just as good as the Mongols; this is the main reason the Yuan invaders were held to small beachheads on the Japanese mainland and eventually pushed back into the sea during both invasions of Japan. The kamikaze "saving" Japan is a myth. Japanese sources don't even mention a typhoon during the first invasion. In the second invasion, the Japanese and Mongol forces fought pitched battles for weeks before the typhoon struck. The Mongols had already been pushed back into the sea by the time it hit, which is why it was so destructive.

Not to be rude but.....what? The Japanese governments view points and the culture of Racial superiority have been discussed at length by pretty much every source that covers them. It was never and has never been swept under the rug by anyone (excluding the post war Japanese government). The only people who believed that Japans "Greater East Asia Co Prosperity Sphere" was a real thing were the Japanese and even that's doubtful.
@Stefanius058
@Stefanius058 2 жыл бұрын
I think its rather they forget about it. Nothing wrong with it. I mean look at how the Germans are treating it. They are constantly harsh on themselves. There is no need for the Japanese today to be reminded 24/7 about the atrocities commited by their ancestors. And talking about sweeping things under the rug. The allies have a handful in that as well. It was what it was. A horrible war with no good guys. It was all rather gray
@-----REDACTED-----
@-----REDACTED----- 2 жыл бұрын
@@Stefanius058 Forgetting is something not to be done given the sheer scale of atrocities. And they do not forget, they actually revere. Germans should indeed not be that hard on themselves as they at least try to come to grips with it which is the decent, and right thing to do. Allied atrocities must of course be addressed also but in this context it is just whataboutism and does not justify the bullshit Japan is trying to pull off. Reconciliation is integral to rehabilitation.
