The spitfire didn't win the battle of Britain, the hurricane shot down more than half of the German aircraft .

NATO was still using Lorenz cypher machines in the 1960’s. I know, as Royal Signals technician, I was part of a team repairing and using them.

At 5:09 a video of a RAN ship is fighting back against the Japanese air attack. in Darwin. My father, Douglas Johnson was serving on HMAS WARREGO, ( a sloop) when it was attacked in the first raid that morning on 19th February 1942 when his ship shot down at least three aircraft . Dad survived the attack after the return from Timor where they had fought off two air attacks on the convoy the day before. He served until April 1946 and finished up as Leading Stoker on HMAS KIAMA , (a corvette).

And one aspect never get mentioned in those war things ... The internal turmoil and aftermath the impact on the communities . Its one thing to deal with the occupant the enemy etc. When the germans where gone in lots of places it was payday for colaborateurs . My father and my uncle up to the end of their lifes where much more affected of those things than the other aspects of the war. When neighbors turned against each other and what that did to the town and the scars it left . The neighbor who was hiding jews and the ones who snitched about ...their grandchildren still cant look in one anothers eyes . Because its smal communities and rememberance is long there. And right after this ww2 what did we have next ...being the first country where the cold war was Projektingenieur the blueprint for All the ones to come... Civil war communist vs .....

Let be honest, Dutch, Norwegians, Belgians and Austrians loved the NAZI. They became anti Nazi when it was no longer convenient to be on German side.

unfortunately ,communism won ww2 the U.S. allied and aided weapons to then Godless communist USSR ( controlled by Bolsheviks not its citizens ) most don't know this .Communism spread like wild fire Eastern Europe through Asian and little Cuba (no Catholic Church acknowledgement allowed after communism ) The wars and deaths from communism carried over into the Cold War

It didn't help the Greeks that their military used equipment (ammunition etc), which were supplied from Italy, so once fighting intensified supplies ceased.

He was neither undervalue nor unappreciated, he was highly respected by the Soviet, the mastermind behind Bagration the operation that destroyed what's left of the German war machine.

It's unbelievable: the video forgets that the British attacked the Greek partisans in order to impose a favorable government in Greece. The fighting lasted from December 1944 to January 1945 when the British managed to occupy Athens.

I think it acted as a deterrent to Spain joining the Axis forces because it was so brilliantly planned and executed so quickly. I have always believed the if you want to have the very best allies in the war, make sure it is Great Britain. For while they civilian population has become weak and slothful, their armed forces, especially the SAS keep up the fine tradition of he who takes the greatest chang, wins. Or Fortune Assists the Daring! if you are Scottish.

i think its a little intellectually dishonest to not give context as to why the USMC did not take prisoners I do understand the trophy taking, my great uncle had a jawbone from the pacific, he would show it almost as a trophy when everyone else was simply concerned at how the war changed him

What do the greek resistance, the yugoslav partisans, the maquis.... and palestinians have in common? Fighting for freedom against a barbaric hostile occupying force. Under international law, they all have a right to resist the invader and have their lands returned to them.

Don't forget the Greek genocide some years ago in what is Turkey now where Greeks were indigenous from Antiquity planned and co.mitted with the help of Germans. The world don't know this but Greeks know their History. It continued after ww2.And Merkel had not so good intentions and tried to destroy the country. And the worst, the propaganda against us has no precedent. All this because they wanted a colony as the other western countries. They had chosen what is now Turkey and are responsible of the Christian population,Armenians,Greeks and Assyrians. They looted their properties.

The British I know allowed the country to pick whether they wanted the Brits to leave gradually or all at once. Some of the ones that chose the first option then switched to the second option because a new party took over.
