Leave it out these cars couldn’t even stayed locked by themselves. The window and the boot would partially open when the car was left anywhere and outside it just filled up with water. The dual pane glass was horrible in any tropical country. People resold them hand over foot. They were a massive failure and sold almost half as many as the 126. No merc ever caused so many buyer to go buy the Lexus as the 140.

I own two RHD W140's. A 1995 S320 with velvour interior with No Sunroof and a 1996 S500L with heated seats, reclining rear seats.

Definitely will look at any locally available W140. Driving my 3.2L W211 is very pleasurable.Gas mileage can be over 30mpg on hwy cruise control and average 20mpg around locally.

Gorgeous, always stately and proper, and THE last of Mercedes over-engineered bank-vault Mercedes of old before the cost-cutting era of Lexus eating Mercedes lunch w/the LS400 in '90...then the w220. Love my '97 last revision, as a keeper to never get rid of, no Benz as baller before it, and the end of an era before Benz had to cut cost. Edit: He got to the grill...Mercedes learned how to curve the formed metal of the hood diving down and the grill more flush and inset, from the traditional grill, but for aerodynamics, and sound elimination for quiet inside, same reason for the double paned side glass...so IT DID have a new grill design, then incorporated on the W124 in '94. And Burno Sacco, lead Benz designer, wanted a lower sleeker car, but the interior guy was tall, so he kept raising the adjustable roo on the working lab model, and with each height increase, Bruno had to balance it out of wider and longer...that's how it ended up so massive....the interior guy, prompting Bruno on the outside of longer and wider. And as much as I love Bruno, and his era of design (the W126 among others), I love that the w140 ended up so massive and huge and tall....it's stately, and actually timeless now, like no other car presence on the road.

I feel like my 2007 s65 amg is a nod to the W140 v12 cars, I absolutely love it, it is overkill as it should be, perfect combination of comfort and sport, I have a w211 4 magic for when it snows but I think a w140 is in my future, it would have to be the v12 though for sure, after having my s65 that’s the only engine that will do

The w220 is very unreliable. It was the first car produced after MB started cutting costs. It's a much cheaper build and many more electrical components to fail. If you want to chose between these cars, w140 100%. I have only had mine for 8 months and have done more than 10000mi.
