Why ‘The Owl House’ is Legendary | Big Review

Hey all, big bad editor monotiller here! Since uploading this video and now, I have been showing a friend both Amphibia and The Owl House. We've just finished The Owl House tonight, watching the two part season two finale and season three back-to-back. Watching it again did kind of re-confirm my stance on the season (don't want to spoil it unless you haven't seen the video yet), perhaps I enjoyed it even more this time around. It was nice that my friend was kind of in agreement with me too and having the fresh perspective was appreciated. Anyway, unless I haven't mentioned it yet, The Owl House is great, and perhaps so are you! We're working on some bigger projects next so you might not see us for a while, but we'll be back sooner or later. Until then, stay groovy! See ya! - monotiller

One slight nit. In Yesterday’s Lie, Camilla asked Luz to promise to stay with her. In Follies at the Coven Day Parade it had warped in Luz’s mind to never go back there.

True, but then, how would you convince someone to go to a place like that? "Ohhh, come with me to the Demon Realm! Ohh, the sea's made of blood and acid ohhhh. My girlfriend's house is on a pile of bones!" I'd say; "lol no, fuck off!" It's a tough proposition especially since Luz let it slip that her way back was destroyed before so it could be destroyed again, potentially leaving them trapped. 57:40 I think it is very much intentional that Eda and Lilith are still cursed and have to live with the effects of it. With many people viewing the curse as an analogy for disability, it is refreshing that it doesn't just go away but they still thrive not even in spite of it but in some ways because of it. The curse opened up avenues for them that they would've never explored otherwise and Eda learning to get along with the owl beast was clearly showing an acceptance of the circumstances you have in life instead of living in denial.

@@DrearyMiddle Hey it's all good, I had to have most of that pointed out to me as well since I'm pretty inexperienced with perceiving disability allegories in media and am currently working on being more observant of that. Glad you find it interesting as well! :)

Dude, I can't believe the fact that I watched a 1 HOUR video and I feel like it was a 10 minute video. *cough*- leaving that aside, I think Gravity Falls is the best Disney show, but tbh I prefer TOH by far, I absolutely love every characters and I think that's the best aspect of the series, I even like belos, bcuz in my opinion, he's a good character, but he's a son of a witch. And even when gravity falls is more old, the owl house is more nostalgic to me, I watched the series from the first chapter and I falll in love at first sight, I grew up with this series. Good job man, I haven't seen a TOH review this good in a long time, you deserve more views.

Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you had a good time! I sort of get what you mean although I watched Gravity Falls after I watched The Owl House and it is interesting to see some of the similarities and differences in how they treat their characters and story. A lot of the more serious moments and the way characters are treated in Gravity Falls feel very similar to the serious moments in The Owl House (not surprising really considering both shows share a lot of the same crew). And as for Belos, what an absolute lad. Love the guy! Well, aside from the whole wanting to blow up the isles thing. I just like how he basically doesn't care about the characters, very refreshing!

Okay I understand it's the end of the series but this is never goodbye this is not the end of the franchise the director did say that she will want to bring it back but right now she needs a well deserved break so the best thing we can do is keep this awesome large fan base going and remember she adores this so like the director said in one of her tweets she does plan on bringing back at the spin-off series shorts and comic series just give it time and may not be this year or next year all we can do is be patient and keep this fan base alive and give her the time that she needs during the show it represented not the destination but the journey that we go on through life. This is never goodbye it's only the beginning of something of something amazing for the future 🤩❤ 😉

Yeah, that's more than fine! And for those who are more into the fandom side of things than I am, definitely, keep the show alive and keep making amazing things, every time I stick my head in I'm impressed with what I see. Those King figures I've seen on Instagram are amazing, I'd pay a pretty penny for one even! But I guess just to clarify my stance on it, I would be over the moon if we got more, but I'm also happy with what we have. I wouldn't ever ask anyone for Owl House 2, but if it came out tomorrow I'd be there. I don't know, there's something satisfying about the few moments after you put a good book down if you know what I mean. - monotiller

Oh hey, sorry I've just replied to your other comment lol. It might be a little way down the road but I'm not ruling it out. Mr_Turnabout (who was the voice/writer of the Amphibia video) has a couple of videos coming out first that I'm editing. One of which is going to be another long one, but this time about Steven Universe and the script for that is nearly twice the length of the one for this video which has me a little worried but hey, first feature length video eh? But for now I want to do it, but there's some other things we've got planned first! - monotiller

Why changing the title? You changed your opinion about it being the best?

No don't worry, I still think it's the best. I wanted to call the video, "A modern Disney classic," but someone had already called their video that and I didn't want to steal their thunder so I changed it to "Disney's Best" I wasnt super jazzed with the new title so Mr_Turnabout, my co-host on the channel, has a bit of SEO experience and suggested a title they thought would be a little more interesting to people. Sorry for the confusion!
