I’m a 27 year old Polish American who just married a Filipino man, and we watched this video together. I visited the Philippines with him in January of 2024, where we got engaged. The prevalence of the Catholic faith was my number ONE favorite aspect of the Philippines. So happy to see someone notice this and speak about it! God bless ya! 😁

Have you ever spent Christmas season in the Philippines? The spirit permeates the air, and everyone says "Merry Christmas" to everyone.

Yes, I spent the Christmas season in Iloilo in 2014. I did the Simbamg Gabi as well. It was a very enjoyable experience.

Pretty common to have masses at malls or commercial establishments in the Philippines. As for the dark skinned wanting to lighten their skins... I think it stems more from a social class thing back in history where the dark tanned folks were assumed to be the peasants working outside in the sun all day, versus the middle or upper class who didn't and were therefore fairer skinned, less tanned.

Interesting perspective and history lesson. I enjoy learning as much as I can about the country.

It’s both. East Asian and South East Asian countries associate lighter skin with the upper class since they don’t work under the sun. It’s already in Filipino culture right from the start. Spanish, Japanese, and American colonizations however made that problem worse.

God bless you sir, wonderful message, one of the main reasons i love my country too is Catholicism I can say it most likely contributed a lot to the wonderful culture the philippines has now of perserverance in life and kindness to others, and seeing others as equal as a neighbor just because of the presence of God freely out in the open in our country, i remember the older telenovenas before as so openly religious and talks of God and hope a lot and was just such a wonderful environment to grow up in, tho not gonna lie I did fall away from faith due to lack of cathechism growing up sadly which is a problem to a lot even today, and only got back to the faith 2 years ago, but have learned so much and have my faith tested and more solid now thanks to the rise of intellectual catholicism again the recent years eg. Catholic Answers, Bishop Barron, Pints w/ Aquinas, Ascension Presents. Hope to retire back home eventually, just living in australia for now, but a long way to go for me a 24 yr old hehe. Anyway again God bless you sir, hope more people talk about the importance of this subject when choosing where to live.

obviously you do not understand the problems people being too heavy have in the philipines so pay attention. Diabetes type 2 which can be cured today ref. University of Oxfordm high bloodpressure which can case strokes so there is a serious reason why people in the Philipines are in health trouble which is caused by poor eating so hel people to improve their eating habits

I understand that perfectly. My point was simply that I’m not going to choose what country I live in based on how many overweight people they have. Pay attention to what I was saying.
