The verse describes the end times. You "WILL" find the Jews and the Idolators most hostile. A time when Jews, Hindus and trinitarian Christians will be most hostile towards you, that is NATO. The surah 5 also states that those among you who will make alliance with these Jews these Idolators these Christians will not be considered among you, that is Turkey (NATO member). However, one particular sect among the Christians which will be most affectionate towards the Muslims (those who are not arrogant Christians) is the Orthodox Church i.e Russia. @@stephenbermingham6554 : I think the Jews got is it all wrong regarding the Messiah. They probably believed that the Messiah would be a Jewish king who would free them from their non-Jewish rulers. In 586 BC the Jews came under the rule of the Babylonians, in 540 BC under the Persians in 320 BC or thereabout under the Greeks, in 160BC or there about under the Romans. Herod in around 03 AD got all the male babies of the Jews killed and Jesus said His kingdom was not of this world and from the Scripture we learn His mission was to free the Jewish people from the bondage of Mosaic laws that had outlived their utility. But most of the Jews rejected Jesus. In the parable of the Wedding Feast, Jesus said the Kingdom of God will be taken away from the Jews and will be given to a people who will bear abundant fruit. Non-Jewish people in countries like Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand etc. accepted Jesus' teaching of love, forgiveness and non-violence and have established peaceful communities while Jews who rejected Jesus and instead believed in the eye for an eye law of Moses face violence and war almost on a daily basis. After the Romans the Jews came under the rule of Byzantines, next the Turks and finally the British following the Second World War. Yet the Messiah they hoped for did not come. Since 1948 AD, the Jews are a free state. They are their own rulers. So where is the need for the Messiah who will deliver them from their rulers?

Islam has been turned into a political ideology and you can thank islamists for that. When Avraham died, ishmael accepted that Itzhak got the inheritance to continue Avraham's work... same in the end days. Arabs will accept that G-d returned Jews to their endigenous land and will eventually build the Temple on the Temple Mount. The Temple on Temple mount is part of the end of days and a requirement by G-d. So weather arabs/Muslims like it or not, but they will accept that. How that will happen, you can ask G-d, but it will happen. Jewish scripture, from which qoran and islam was copied, already foretold that in the end of days arabs will give jews trouble in the land, but in the end, at the times of Moshiach, arabs will accept that the covenant of the Torah between G-d and people of the tribes of Israel is eternal and still active.

Mohammed correctly asserts that the children of israel have the Torah and its teachings and it’s Rabbis - jurists that judge according to the Torah - Mohammed does not say anywhere that Jews must follow him or change the laws of the Torah because of him. Actually , there is proof from the Qu’ran that every Muslim must follow all the Jewish kosher laws. Mohammed says that Jews can eat in the homes of Muslims and visa versa…This clearly shows that all Muslims must seperate milk and meat and camel meat or milk is forbidden etc… also Muslims must keep all the kosher for Passover laws. I believe that Islam can be a kosher noahite religion serving the one true god - unfortunately there are many who rely on unreliable Hadiths calling for the murder of Jews and this is quite contrary to the qu’ran and Islam the way it’s written in the Quran

Do not sell My revelations for a paltry price. Those who do not judge by the laws of God are disbelievers." Christians are expected to follow the Gospel teachings. 5:46 "And We sent, following in their footsteps, Jesus son of Mary, confirming the Torah before him and We gave to him the Gospel, wherein is guidance and light, and confirming the Torah before it, as a guidance and an admonition unto the God-fearing." 2:62 "Verily! Those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and do righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve." Allah doesn't contradict Himself.

Quran is not difficult to understand nor vulnerable. As you had oral law, we have hadith and many many of those are well preserved. I believe you know that much better than me. Rabbi i hope you take this in consideration there is a significant explanation of this verse done by a Moroccan Muslim philosopher and thinker his name is Muhammad Abed Al Jabiri , he passed a way just before few years , he says the Christians who the verse is referring to are not the trinitarian Christians , the verse is referring to monotheistic Unitarian early Christians called Ebionites . Ebionites were originally Jews who accepted Jesus as the messiah of the Jewish people but they did not give him any divine attributes and viewed him as a messenger and servant of of God almighty , thats exactly what the Muslims actually believe , furthermore the ebionites lived a very simple life where they isolated themselves from the surroundings and dedicated all their time for worship , lets not forget that the trinitarian Christians persecuted the Ebionites and accused them of heresy. so the christian Ebionites who were monotheistic Unitarians , who accepted Jesus as the servant and messenger of Almighty God and the messiah of the Jewish people , who kept the law of Moses are more close to us than Jews as the verse is telling

Amazingly - and thanks to Dr. Mohammad Shahrour's method of modern reading of the word of Allah in which there should not be Synonyms (there is a reason why God would use a specific word) - the answer to your question at 7:06 , which can be frequently raised when studying religious text , is found in the Quran itself (see Quran Surat Aal-i-Imraan from 1 to 9...but specifically 7 ..its like WOAH!!..a verse in the book describing how to read the book..like a quick start guide or something) . The question of whether an instruction or any "point" made in the Quran is made for a specific time and place "moment" for us to conclude the lessons from it according to our time and/or place or it being a universal law , is the question of understanding the difference between "Nabi -Prophet" and "Rasool - Messenger" and how the prophet Mohammad PBUH had a position as a Man , a Rasool and A Nabi and the differences will make any human get goosebumps once understood , because it is almost like explaining human behavior that we all relate to , but via Allah's final messenger the one with no single miracle expect for a finite amount of Ayyat (verses) that we the followers of Muhammad PBUH believe are miracles , once reading the text again with this taken into account following the guide carefully the experience becomes something different because the word of God does not fail to be relevant in the heart of the believer. According to the Shafi'i school, the Nasara (Nazarenes) are only Jewish Christians. Christians of Israelite blood and if you look into Jewish Christian groups you find that the two main groups of Jewish Christianity were the Nazarenes & Ebionites during those times and these groups are very different from the Pauline Romans. The three key difference between Jewish Christians (Nazarenes) and Pauline Christians were 1. That the former held Jesus [ﷺ] to only be the Messiah, a prophet and not divine in any sense while the latter held him to be divine. 2. Also the former saw that the law of Moses [ﷺ] was still not abolished while the latter held the law to be abolished. 3. And lastly the former held that the Gentiles were not called to accept Jesus [ﷺ] as Christ while the latter held that Jesus Christ [ﷺ] was sent to the Gentiles. So it could very be that this Quranic verse was referring to the Nazarenes and not the Paulines.

The Israelite people (also known as the Jewish people) live the 613 commandments and serve God that way. They were chosen for a very difficult mission throughout the ages. Abraham was the first Israelite(the synonym is Jew) Abraham was not a Christian because the Christian belief in a man being God is not an Abrahamic belief and because Christ wasn't born yet. You are not telling the truth when you say that Islam is the "restoration of the religion of Abraham." Islam is the copy of the Israelite religion(synonym Jewish), in the style of Mohammed. Jews, due to Torah, pray 3 times a day facing east and Mohammed knew that so he made his religion 5 times a day praying facing east.That is a copy of the Jewish religion. Jews didn't eat pork. Mohamed made no pork for muslims. That is a copy of the Jewish relgiion. Jews due to Torah said circumcision, so Mohamed had circumcision. That is a copy of the Jewish Torah. How would you know that Abraham circumcised himself and his sons? It is written in the Jewish Torah and that is how Mohamed knew this. Jews due to Torah had to give Tzedakah, charity, so Mohamed made his religion giving charity. Islam is a copy of Judaism and Torah, except for Jihad and all the violence and not making pacts with infidels and dhimmis. The Jewish religion does not seek to convert others. The Jewish religion abhors violence and force. The Jewish religion says 1 law for Jews and everyone else in the Jewish country. So there Mohamed did not copy and that is what is wrong with Islam and Muslims. Jews had pilgramage to Jerusalem, due to Torah so Mohamed made a pilgramage. This has nothing to do with Abraham. Quran says that some christian priests are very humble and very sincere. It boast their attitude. But not their belief system. The Jews are described as not as modest as they should be.. some a little too arrogant.. some too greedy. The problem is with the superficial understanding first, then with the translation. The Nassara does not mean Christians. It means the true believers amongst the followers of Jesus. The rest are referred to as unbelievers (Kuffar). The Nassara are those followers of Jesus who stated that they believed that Jesus was a messenger of Allah and his prophet, not those who believed that he was a son of God. Refer to 65:52 for an understanding of what Nassara means. It is important to understand that there is no such thing as Christianity in Islam because Jesus did not bring forth a religion, he was following the Torah. So the Quran refers to the true followers of Jesus as Nassara and the rest as unbleivers (Kuffar). This explains the verse in question: Jewish people and Mushriks have the hardest hearts again Muslims, while Mushriks (associaters with Allah or Idolaters) are the Christians along with all other idolaters. The real beleivers of Jesus who called themselves Muslims in the verse would naturally be more considerate. However, it probably also was referring to that particular time period, simply because there are no Nassara today.

The Muslims were besieged inside Medina for 24 days, and the Jews of Banu Qurayza lived inside Medina with the Muslims. The Muslims had a peace deal with them before that. The Jews tried to divide the ranks of the Muslims, as they tried to create tension between the Aws and the Khazraj (after they became muslim )and restart the war between them That's just some of what the did , I appreciate your position but saying that they were completely peaceful is not fair or accurate.

Quran does not generalize, it Defines the believer is the one who believes in 1- the day after and 2- Does good in his life. Believe only is insufficient to be saved niether doing good w/o believe.

Regarding the point that the Quran is incohesive and therefore vulnerable to negative interpretation, Quran sees it as a matter of cohesiveness and design to test the hearts : It is He who has sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Book; in it are verses [that are] precise - they are the foundation of the Book - and others unspecific. As for those in whose hearts is deviation [from truth], they will follow that of it which is unspecific, seeking discord and seeking an interpretation [suitable to them]. And no one knows its [true] interpretation except Allah . But those firm in knowledge say, "We believe in it. All [of it] is from our Lord." And no one will be reminded except those of understanding. 3.7 Indeed, Allah is not timid to present an example - that of a mosquito or what is smaller than it. And those who have believed know that it is the truth from their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, they say, "What did Allah intend by this as an example?" He misleads many thereby and guides many thereby. And He misleads not except the defiantly disobedient, 2;26
