1. Preform at your maximum potential without being bothered about the result, even when you lose you should be in joy that you tried your best, because at the end thats all you can do. 2. Avoid binary thinking, think of losses as something to learn from. 3. Don't focus on others when playing. Meaning don't compare your stats to theirs, or look at what they "should've" done. You cannot control your teammates but you can focus in our selves. 4. choose a beginning and the end, do not think about the numbers or stats, just focus on being as efficient as possible. Your only goal should be what you want out of competitive. 5. Don't let the perception of others (or even yourself) destroy the learning process. You will make mistakes, you are learning, don't be ashamed of taking risks.

All that is good and all but doesn't apply to a game like OW where your own performance is largely impacted by the 4 players with you. You have to think what works best for the team, and your team thinks what works best with you. This is why soloq is a disaster for most people, someone is always thinking like "idc about the team, i want whats best for myself".
@StephanieDaugherty2 жыл бұрын
I'd expand on #3 a bit You can control your teammates to a degree - the attitude you bring to your matches is contagious, and you can either choose to encourage and enable teammates with a good attitude, or to tilt them beyond any chance of winning with a bad attitude. That's it. That's the limit of control of your teammates, and in doing so, you'll have more fun, win more games, and maybe help those teammates do the same in the rest of their matches.

I don't care if I suck, I care that my performance doesn't matter at the end of the day, and that no matter how well I do, even if I carried, that loss is causing a de-rank. I know you put a lot of work into these vids and the advice is sound, but I actually think there might be too many insertions of photos/clips/stock footage in this whole video. The problem is, even before your sentence finishes, we see 2-4 different images from various media and it makes our eyes bounce all over the place and focus less on the words you are speaking. I still prefer a more relaxed format (which you traditionally had) just showing gameplay (could be any game, doesn't have to be OW), and punctuating it once in a while with these stock clips/memes. It does add some light-hearted humor and analogies can be fun, but I just am not a fan of a stream of various imagery in such a short span of time. I see it in other KZbin videos, but those are silly Roblox type of videos or "Watch me play Horror Game _____", whereas this is a more academic channel, so I feel like your viewers are little more sophisticated. But this is just my opinion. See what others say about the video too.

After the first 2 weeks of the season i queued up only to see a shiny 280 number beside my name. I can't agree more than this. Recently I've been receiving a lot of flaming from teammates and opponents alike, but they're to such severity that it sounds less like they're upset and more like they're having a a stroke or something - I keep thinking to myself "If someone spoke like this to you IRL you would immediately think they're having a mental breakdown or something, but in game it's so easy to take it on board as legitimate creditable criticism." That really builds rank and skill anxiety. But if I go out to practice a song on my guitar and I fail it 10 times - that's a regular practice session. If I fail to beat a lap time on my mountainbike 10 times - that's a regular series of rides. But if I loose 10 comp games in a row, for some reason I've decided that is an absolute disaster. It doesn't matter that I'm a better than I was before those 10 games. It amazing how worrying about imaginary participation awards called "ranks" can completely strip away your desires of improving as a player or having fun and lead you fully into only caring about gaining SR.

Yo I love this message. I try to approach dying/losing in a game as a learning experience. Every time I die I laugh about it, note what I did wrong and keep moving. Great video and great advice!

These videos are fake, that game where I had 18 deaths in 13.5 minutes was my teams fault, they should have played around me when I didn't comm to them. Dislike!

Thank you so so very much. I came here expecting some quality overwatch content and I came out blessed with quality life content. I have been experiencing so much personal toxicity and negativity in what I try to do in my life (not only overwatch) and I keep comparing myself to others and get sulky whenever others are better than me. Little did I know that I needed this video to escape my hole of anxiety and insecurity. It's all really all about the grind
@BonzoDeAap2 жыл бұрын
This video is spot on! Playing with friends also removes a lot of toxicity since random teammates tend to start blaming each other when they are losing.

Thank you for this video, I been stuck in bronze 5 since overwatch 2 releases and I can’t get out. But I have hope again thank you

Honestly this video helped me a lot. It was really exactly what I needed to hear to get myself out of that mindset. I started playing again after 3 years of being hardstuck bronze and climbed my way up to plat but last night I almost dropped back to gold. I was furious at myself and my teammates for this happening. I was too caught up in losing my plat importance that I wasnt even considering the games itself. Now I'm actually trying to just take a step back and focus on what's important, my own gameplay and my own improvement.

Love your work man! To view failures in such a way that can create values in our lives and ultimately achieve our dreams is what most of us need to learn across different areas.

I just got off the game on full tilt, and I needed to see this, thanks.

Man I have been trying to work on my tilt this year but lately its been rough. My mind has become this mental prison where I don't want to play and grind because of the negative emotions I allow to control me whenever I do not perform up to my expectations, and because of this fear I am stuck in a paralysis where I feel the inner urge to grind only to second guess myself. Thank you for making this video, it was something I needed to watch. Having strong mental fortitude is indeed an undervalued skill.
@A10Nerd2 жыл бұрын
Escape that prison and make the most out of your free time, the sooner we get it back the better. It wont be easy but good luck, I believe in you

Thank you, I'm a currently plat Tracer main looking to improve my skills. Mentality is your key to success in this game and why you should never flame teammates or take their flaming personally. I've been trying hard to improve myself this past week and I am starting to see more and more success and more positive mental attitude even if I lose. Its just a game and if you arent having fun you arent approaching it with the right mindset. Thank you A10

This rlly was a good wake up call. Hit ascendant in val on my main and I wanted to keep my reputation of ascendant so i stopped grinding as much. I’ve been playing on alt accs for the past 3 months and realizing that it rlly is diminishing my ability to play. Vid was rlly reassuring and made a lot of that comp anxiety go away.

I am slowly but surely getting rid of my fear of failing, this video helps not just with overwatch but life as well. For example, I completely botched my first calculus 2 test, 5/25, but for the first time I thought to myself "this doesn't define me", like why should I just have one shot? Then came my next test, I didn't pass as well but I got a 12/25, I improved, at first I was sad but then I realized I improved. Then just last week, I got a 18.5/25!! I passed, I was so happy and if I had let a failure define me then I would have never thought I was capable of succeeding. I think just lot of people have this fear of failure because we have it engraved from our academic background, well U.S I can't speak for others, that's why I noticed the people I have seen succeed have been the ones who failed the most same reason why players with so many hours are often high elo, they allowed themselves to fail. They know there's chances to improve, if they didn't believe that then they would have just had 50 hours or something. It's also why I started to like playing Zenyatta after a rough day of college, "Failure is acceptable. Quitting is not", love that lil monk.

This is just good advice for life. Reflect and improve who you are, you can't control others. Don't allow people to divert you from the purpose you have chosen.
