I am in no way trading Eldridge, he looks excellent with crazy raw power, unless they think they can fix Vlad's swing and get him to 2021 levels. I also believe in Eldridge more because of the 2-way ceiling, in that because he spent time pitching he's likely to have a lot of developmental runway ahead.

Offer a couple guys like Casey Schmidt, Wilmer, Slater, Conforto, and a couple 2nd or 3rd tier pitching prospects. No top prospects. The Giants have a good 1B in Lamonte Wade already. Vladdy is nice but not worth Eldridge

I know LaMonte is a fan favorite and one of our more consistent bats this season (also injured at the moment), but he’s not untouchable and his trade value might never be this high again… I would see how Toronto responds to an offer of; Wade, Schmitt, and Reggie Crawford, for Vlad and a prospect.

There are other prospects they could trade, you could trade Hunter Bishop, a couple of the pitching prospects, maybe Conforto, you don't need to trade Eldridge.

I agree with you Larry about bringing in Vlad. But have issues with the rumor. If we all know we haven’t produced position players for the last 35 years…Why would anyone give us anything of value let alone Vlad Jr ( & let’s not call him Vladdy if he comes here, sounds like a cheap Bronny nickname) for one of our highly touted prospect. If you told me Conforto and some of the young pitchers we have it sounds believable

So, I know this is a month old at the time I am watching this, but I have to put in my 2 cents. Vlad wouldn't sign in SF, he would be a rental, so trade a promising prospect for a rental... In a year where the rental is not going to give you a deep playoff run... This line of thinking makes no sense. If Vlad had 2 or 3 years after this season (and no opt out clause) then yes he would cost more. BUT GETTING HIM WOULD HELP MORE. You rent Vlad if you think he is the last piece of the puzzle that gets you to the NLCS, not if you think maybe he gets you into the wildcard game...

The only problem that I have with this is that Lamont Wade Jr has turned into a pretty damn good 1st baseman and is quickly developing chemistry with Matt Chapman. I like the idea of bringing Vlad Guerrero Jr. into the lineup but maybe as a DH.

I love you Larry but this video was kind of pointless. People have already reported on what the Blue Jays have been floating out there to execs (what they would take for Vladdy), they are looking for at least 3 prospects in the top 100, and 2 of them pitching. There is no world where the Blue Jays would do that trade. The Giants have a very weak farm system, and can't compete with many other teams for tradable prospects.

The Giants landed Lee & Chapman last offseason. Larry seems to have forgotten that. I don’t think Toronto is trading Glad. Their fans thought they were getting Ohtani last year. They will revolt if they trade Glad. This trade is not happening.

The Giants offered the same contract the Dodgers gave him, but it was never realistic that he wasn’t going to be a Dodger. The Giants had to throw their hat in the ring in both situations. Judge had grown up a Giants fan and Ohtani was the best player in baseball. When Ohtani deferred his money for 10 years, it gave the Dodgers the upper hand in landing Yamamoto. Lee was 25 and the best player in Korea. Chapman was a multiple gold glove winner with 20+ home run per year average. The Giants landed both of them. Toronto is not likely to trade Glad. If they do trade him, they will want more than this report suggests.

I’ll never understand why baseball fans want as many free agent signings as possible, as if “big names=wins.” That’s not how great teams get built. Look at the giants right now. Surging because their own prospects are hungry, and Melvin has always thrived with young teams. Nurture THAT. What, we trade Eldridge who could be a homegrown star for an overrated star who clearly isnt as motivated as guys like matos, wisely and bailey.
