I agree about how much better this is. I waited for a more capable APSC body for many years, as Sony kept feeding us new models, that just didn't do it for me. I got an A7IV and returned it - too damned bulky and heavy. Then finally, A6700. Small as it may be, it still dwarves my old RX100V

@@harry54ck I do not have a problem, for night shots, not even on my15 Year old early mirrorless Sony, long before the 6000 series started. or even the RX100v - I got such good night shots with that. I should mention I only buy prime lenses, waiting for the sony version of the Viltrox 27mm F1.2. Using my legs to "zoom" gives me so many more pictures, than an actual zoom lens, for landscapes... For my A7IV, I had the 24mm GM - a fantastic lens, but after a few days, I decided I didn't want to carry so much bulk and weight, since I was satisfied with the shots of the R100V. for just fotos, I would have stuck to that. But for video, the RX100 is a bit annoying. Just not enough capability. There was a video stating, that Sony made a mistake, making the A6700 too good. I can't say if that is true,and for whom, but I don't see why I'd buy another one. Its got 10 Bit 422.every thing I wanted. Hey there, I'm in the lookout for my first mirrorless camera. Right now, I'm really leaning towards the a6500 (used/refurbished for 400-500€). While I'd prefer to stick with Sony for E-mount, it's not a deal-breaker if I can't. My focus is about 60% on video and 40% on photography. Good software and mobile support are important to me (using iPad as external monitor, streaming without capture card etc.), and I'd love it if the camera can shoot videos in 4K or higher. My budget is around 400-500€, whether it's new, refurbished, or used. I'm also fine with waiting for new releases as my camera purchase is planned around summer. Any advice or recommendations would be awesome and i hope you can help me out! 👊🏻

Also amazing is that you can output LOG footage with the LUT to live stream!

honestly it's really nice that we live in an era where APS-C cameras are soooo good now. Pretty much every brand has a decent enough option, and a few have really top tier cameras. I'm especially thinking about Sony, Canon and Fuji. All 3 have a camera that is fitting that mid range pricepoint and they're all offering really good cameras there. I think I don't need to add anything on how the Sony A6700 is a great camera, this video pretty much sums it up. But if I'm honest, if it's a really good camera for video production, it isn't the best in its class for photography, being beaten on burst rates or resolution or both by the competitors. It might be the best balanced body though. The Fuji X-S20 is basically the same camera with a few differences. The size is the same (or really close), the camera is a little cheaper (100 bucks cheaper) and they share a really similar sensor base (both use the Sony IMX571). The two big differences will be that for photography the X-S20 will bea ble to shoot 20fps while the 6700 is limited at 11, and that in video it trades the cropped 4K120 for an open gate 3:2 6K30 video. F-Log 2 is around the same as S-Log 3 when it comes to dynamic range and autofocus in video is close, although Fuji does not have touch to track (yet, it's been announced that it would come through firmware). On the lens' fron Fujifilm probably has the biggest selection of APS-C glass, both 1st and 3rd party. The X mount is basically as old as the E-mount at this point and both have really strong ens lineups. It's also sorth noting that You can add an external fan to it if you really want to turn it into a video beast. The Canon EOS R7 is a little more expensive (100 bucks more) than the A6700 and would be *overall* a better camera, having a 32MP sensor, the ability to shoot up to 30fps stills and having a slightly bigger and more rugged body with dual card slots and more controls. Autofocus wise it's also very good, at least as good as the other ones. It does have 4K60, but the rolling shutter is more present than in both the X-S20 and A6700 and here there's no 4K120 nor 6K30 open gate. It's the weakest video offering of the 3, but considerinfg the photography specs it's still putting up a good fight as probably the most versatile camera out of the 3. Biggest problem? The lenses. You'll probably have to get an EF adapter and use DSLR glass on this one since the RF-S lens lineup is so weak and the RF full frame glass is just too expensive in general
@anonymousl51508 ай бұрын
Canon full frame lenses are very overpriced and apsc there's not enough options. Fuji also overpriced, there are so many old lenses that don't meet the modern standards still priced crazy for retail and you have to get them used. Anything between 18 and 90 mm is fine on Fuji, the 50-140 telephoto is great, but everything else is a weak spot optically, although 3rd parties have started producing decent ultrawides and telephotos. Sony gets most of the same 3rd parties in addition to everything else including full frame lenses. Why use sony full frame on apsc body? Because you cut the weakest corners of a lens on apsc and it's still a useful pixel density equivalent of a 60 megapixel full frame, highly useful for telephoto situations. Most importantly, the autofocus is simply far superior to Fuji which is easily the worst out of all the main camera brands for video.

@Pharesm9 ай бұрын
Obviously, that is a completely personal choice, based on weighing many details. I like to carry less weight, because then I will keep hiking longer, if my back is not hurting. For someone who shoots in a studio, this would be irrelevant... Then there's venues - some will stop you from shooting or ask you to leave with a full frame camera, while the "hobby" camera (little do they know) can go in and be used, since it doesn't look "pro"

Great video - you seem like you'd have good perspective on my situation - I currently am self employed doing photo and video work... I used to have A6300/6400, but moved away from APSC and now I find that I miss it for traveling. I am considering getting rid of the ZV-E1 in exchange for a a6700 + a sigma 18-50... I could always bring the FX3 if I needed a truly lowlight camera, but it would be nice to have the APSC camera with a mechanical shutter for a small hybrid camera option and for travel. Do you think I'll really miss the ZV-E1? I love the camera, but find I only bring a small 1.8 prime with it, rather than something like a 24-70 (which makes the ZV-E1 big anyway). Thoughts?

I owned an A6300 and sold it to give Fuji a go and mainly for photo. I regret the sell... :( I also mainly shoot Nikon's high resolution models and had a D810, and now a Z7II. I was very happy with the A6300 for an every day camera even compared to them. It was incredibly compact, it felt sharp, was fast, colors were nice out of camera if I didn't want to edit, etc. I regret selling it as I didn't like the Fuji X-E3 and felt it's auto focus was nowhere near the A6300 in terms of accuracy. Most AF systems are fast these days, but the Fuji felt like it had a nack for missing just barely, to the point I was bugged when I saw a sharp copy of a photo, next to an unsharp copy of the same photo, half a second later. My Z7II isn't great at AF either, but the ZF is amazing and the A6300 was great too. I now only own my Z7II and my ZF, and those are the two I'll have for a very very long time, but there is a timeline where I went E mount instead with something from the A7R line, kept my A6300, and I am sure I would happy as well.

Is there a camera thats like half this price that I could use to shoot video at car meets , take good pictures and use as a webcam for streaming myself? Love the vid the a6700 is just so steep for my first "fancy camera"

Just get the ZVE10 and spend more on lens. Lens is more important

Thanks for sharing this! I'm looking for an update for my x-t200 and thinking about x-s20 or changing the system to sony. So I'm confused. Is it better to go with x-s20 or a6700? or even fx30?

It's completely another price level due to the full-frame sensor.

What´s your opinion on the a6700 compared to a (cheaper) fujifilm x-s10?

I just got mine a6700 and still trying to figure out different setings. But 67 is definitely better than mine a6000 . By the way, what software is he using for editing ?

If you have the money for the ff lenses, you're good to go. My main issue are the lens prices, not the body
@SxiiJXii10 ай бұрын
@@alindarko812 I buy primes mainly and there are cheaper options out there. the 50mm f1.8 is only 200 new. literally any high quality glass is going to run you though. I bought the sigma 85f1.4 on sale. I high recommend used glass too. If you buy old glass you can get more character. also you can still use your aps-c lenses if you are coming from the same brand. just add the 1.5x crop factor.

a7III should be cheaper, its a 2018 camera with worse everything but low light performance. I sold one of my a7III for this camera.

Just wondering, on a6500 you set up slog3 via picture profile. Here in the menu? Does it compete with picture profile 11 or is the latter being disregarded?

Jake, which would you recommend (vs FX30) for video primarily and the occasional photo if budget allowed for either body? I am leaning towards the FX30 because it just makes more sense. TIA
@jakehayden99810 ай бұрын
I would go FX30 if you have the budget, mainly because the FX30 has an internal cooling fan so you won’t have to worry about overheating no matter what

But you have a hybrid vs the Fx30 where you can take photos and video. You don't have the bigger Sd card/dual slots but it works great! im about to make short films with mine to push it to its limits

@@PosetivityJunkie True, but I do not take photos except for the rare one. So FX30 makes more sense. Thanks!
