@@U.Inferno You can buy products in a store without interacting with a person (self service cashiers) and tipping a human cashier would slow down the service too much. On the other hand, foodservice industry relies much more on customer's experience leading to more interaction between an employee and customer so tipping is more possible there than in stores

@@U.Inferno Tipping is now a feature on some of the newer cash registers in the US that even asks for a tip in self checkouts. I went somewhere the other day at the iPad like self checkout it asked 10%, 15%, 20%, or choose your own tipping percentage. What sort of scamming economic system are we coming to that a price tag means nothing. 😅 The only way to pay no tip at this self checkout was to custom write 0%. And then it asked do you want to donate to a charity for the order which fyi the store corporation you're shopping at can often use your donation as a part of the store's tax write offs, depending on how they file it on their back end😅

I'm glad the video qualified its point by stating truthfully that scientists have NO IDEA whether this new ocean will form or not...because we really have very little idea of what that process looks like, and what needs to happen (at the micro and macro levels) for a continent to completely rift and new oceanic crust to form. Also, even assuming this does eventually happen (keeping in mind that these processes have been going on for 30 million years in East Africa, and there have been periods where the rifting slowed to a stop, before picking up again...ramping up to a whopping 7 millimeters a year), the question of when it happens is also hotly debated. The world could have a new contender for its largest island (it would definitely be bigger than New Guinea...and depending on where the split happens, could absolutely dwarf Greenland) in anywhere from 20 million years to 100+ million years. We just don't know. If anyone's interested, one of my favourite online geologists, Dr. Erik Klemetti, wrote a really thorough piece on this subject: eos.org/articles/are-we-seeing-a-new-ocean-starting-to-form-in-africa

I think the split in eastern Russia is a lot closer to that next ocean. They already have the worlds deepest lake and its only getting wider every year.

For all those in the 4 vs 5 oceans debate: "The Southern Ocean is the 'newest' named ocean basin. It is recognized by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names as the body of water extending from the coast of Antarctica to the line of latitude at 60 degrees South. The boundaries of this ocean were proposed to the International Hydrographic Organization in 2000. However, not all countries agree on the proposed boundaries, so this has yet to be ratified by members of the IHO. The U.S. is a member of the IHO, represented by the NOS Office of Coast Survey." -National Ocean Service, NOAA

Yes, all oceans are connected, and the Indian and Pacific Oceans are not really distinctly disconnected. And the Arctic is kind-of a fake ocean. So really there's really just three. Oceanography perspective.

Won't it just do the same as Iceland? Iceland is always moving apart but whenever it has moved a certain amount, a volcano fills up the gap which just makes Iceland bigger.

I really enjoy the content and I have since the channel started, and I might be in a minority but it was much more enjoyable when the educational part came first and the jokes came second, it's started to become a comedy channel with half explained facts now rather then the opposite.
