My mom's friend went onto X- factor and he got into the semi-finals. He poured his heart and soul into it and was trying for years but got eliminated before the finals. And when he got home and watched it, they completely cut him out of the show. So at first, I didn't believe him until I did my research and found out that it's happened to a lot of people. I find it kinda messed up that some people get so far in the show, spent weeks going to auditions and stuff just for them to get removed from something they've worked so hard to get. edit: (he also had pics to prove that he got into the semi finals)

Not to mention they know absolutely nothing about stars these shows in general don't like all of the singing competitions shows pick a winner at the end and they never become successful or get a big name however people who lose usually get a following after a few years people like Melanie Martinez for example really talented people who lost these fake shows end up actually successful

I’m not seeing anyone talk about Ariel Burdett, her audition was another infamous one, she actually committed suicide back in 2019 because of how they portrayed her and all of the hate she got after her audition as well. The part after her audition when she walks through the curtain and pushes that metal thing, her shirt changes. When she is on stage, her shirt is tied. When she comes through the curtain first, it's untied. Then after she pushes it and walks behind the one guy there, it's tied again.

My cousin went to the Birmingham auditions several years ago, they singled her out and made her discuss her battle with MS as a condition to get the audition. Most people don't get to the main audition they have to have several with the producers and sit for hours in the waiting room without food and water. They followed my cousin around for hours with a camera and in the final show, she was featured for 30 seconds if that, they only showed her discussing her illness (hey framed her talking about her MS like a sob story Something that she was pressured to do while separated from her parents and something she didn't want to discuss in the first place) and didn't show her singing the song, just being stopped by Simon. The song that she was asked to sing was not the tone of her choice like Lucy they picked it for her and didn't let her reherse It's taken years for her to get over it because she was so humiliated by it all and caused her to fall into depression. all of this happened when she was separated from her parents, she was 15 at the time.

I've literally always hated these type of shows. They're fake in such a creepy way. People tell people their sad experiences, it's romanticized, they get on stage and usually sing, then the audience has the same reaction; automatically getting up and cheering a bunch. If it's not what they like, the contestants are treated awfully. It doesn't seem real and I find it really disturbing.

I wish people understood the power of editing. You can falsify, mislead and completely change the tone of something in an edit: A man looks to the camera and smiles. The preceding shot could be a mother holding a child, or someone hitting a dog. Your opinion of the man smiling is completely different based on which shot is shown to you first. Its painfully obvious on shows like these the random edits they cut in to create their desired narrative. Everything is so false.

They didn't really put them there - bad singers go onto tv willingly and get a reality check. Sometimes the judges go too far but for the most part they see way too many schmucks embarrass themselves on the show to let each and every one of them down all easy and coddling-like.

@@christcarsandcountry6812 yes but the producers filter the people and choose who makes it to tv. And it doesn’t change the fact a lot of these people are vulnerable. ngl auditions are just like gamble. And everyone knows if you lost in the gamble or not. To my pov, if you ever want to go into a audition or create a fame for yourself, atleast make yourself famous is any sort of way. For example you want to go for an acting audition, make sure you are famous in any other way like social character, or a singer, or an athlete etc. Because in the end, people are going to choose who is more famous than what talent they have achieved. Maybe the judges choose you if you actually impress the crowd and the judges decision is a must to give 4 yes.

my mate got through to the live auditions on the voice and he did not get through because he was told to sing a song that was a different genre than what he sings (he has a very good deep country voice, was told to sing a pop song that required a different voice) basically to set him up. @@mistid1485 Oh for sure I actually agree and think it wasn't their dream to be a group, more so because they didnt know each other at all. I believe they were indeed friends when they were together and they also weren't stupid to let their fame pass so maybe they waited until their fame died down a bit to finally go solo. But what i meant is that i was a guilable child who thought Simon was some kind of angel sent from heaven because he gave them such a big opportunity but at the end of the day he was probably only thinking about himself and how much money a boyband could make.

Small story from my brothers audition back in 2014. While nothing eventful happened on his end, I noted some interesting things said by staff backstage. About how if contestants were "greenlit" or not... Seems pretty average, but after seeing this (and realising how many contestants don't make it on TV) I figure they assess how entertaining mocking or praising someone would be long before they're even on TV. On top of that, despite my brother not starting a fight with the judges for them saying no. He was followed out of the audition hall by a crew who seemed to ask "Why he said that to simon" despite me and our mum watching every second of his act. He didn't say a word to simon, he just took the criticism and left. Curious.

They would say that I would get through to live shows no matter what and have a set out plan of who is making it and who isn't from the start. They offered pay for time too. They select bad acts on purpose. Some themselves are actors. They even said that if I had a sob story that would be beneficial for the show and to think of a compelling reason for being there as "wanting to make it" isn't a good reason.

On top of that you can hear all of the other peoples auditions whilst waiting to go on yourself and there was people who were miles better than me (one man sung Adele better than she could sing it) and they didn’t even get through. I knew then at 16-17 that it was a massive joke, and I was glad I didn’t get through once I went to college and learned about the terrible contracts they give you. My ex gf went to an audition of Idols in my country. Turns out, before the filmed and produced audition there's a thing called "producers audition" first. So they go there, and the producers will try to see how much entertainment value you would have, and depending on that they pass you on or off. Which means, all those terrible singers who went in front of the judges filled with confidence seriously thought they were good because the producers passed them on to the show under the pretense that they were going to be famous. Basically there were 3 categories: Great talent/potential, entertaining nutjobs and time killers. Great talents/potentials were there to tuck the heartstrings of the viewers and get them rooting for them, and would usually have the most amount of time dedicated to them. Entertaining nutjobs had the job of bringing in the funny or the bizarre to draw laughter and pointing fingers from the viewers. Time killers were there just to fill in time, the type of folk who were not bad but not great either. They had the least amount of broadcast time and were there to show how popular such a contest is and how big of a deal the whole production is. In conclusion, talent show's are less about talent and more about exploiting anyone who signed their names on the airtight documents.

Mary Byrne, the Irish singer who was on the 2010 series of X Factor (same year 1D were on it), made it as far as the semi-final stage of the show but there was a sing-off/bottom two that night. She was in the bottom two with Cher Lloyd. But normally in an X Factor semi-final there isn’t a bottom two: the judges power to save a contestant is taken away from them. The public officially decides who goes home. It was said on the radio (in Ireland) the next day that nobody told Mary that there was gonna be a bottom two that night. The end result was the judges (except Louis who was her mentor) ended up putting Cher (aged 17) through to the final instead of Mary (aged 51). Basically, they changed the rules of the semi finals and didn’t bother to tell a contestant about it. They took the power away from the people and gave it back to the judges. It’s just cheeky, unfair, disgraceful and appalling. And the fact the judges chose youth (Cher) over talent (Mary) that night just simply proves X Factor is a popularity contest not a singing competition.

Yeh, I hate these "talent" shows. These types of shows are really popular in my country they always air something like this. Singing contest, cooking contest, baking contest ect. A lot of things are common in them: - you don't need to be good in the skill that the show looking for you only need a sad backstory and you need to able to cry every time you are on the screen. And of cores you need to say every time how importan is to you and how lucky you are and how hard you will work. - If you are a returner from a previous season, you are almost guaranteed to walk into the semi finale/finale. -timeline is broken in these shows, especially in the cooking shows. The magical last 5 minute always fixes everything.

Actually when Zoe said - You told me to sing a Pink song - I believed her! 100% The producers are in control & they obviously told her just to drag her down afterward.

The most thing i noticed with Zoe's performance is that if she had thrown the microphone the way she did, then the microphone wouldn't be laying on-stage. It would be laying somewhere off-stage, because she supposedly sends the microphone flying through the air. They show her throwing the microphone, and then cuts to a footage of the microphone laying still on-stage. It makes no sense. I'm sure there's more, but that's the most obvious thing that i noticed.

It genuinely irritates me that this show still exists and people still watch it 😒

People always draw conclusions after seeing one side of the situation, we never bother to give importance to the contestant's side

Marcelito Pomoy experienced the same manipulation but in America's Got Talent. he said they did not let him performed the songs that he liked to sing, instead they chose the song for him.

I had a few friend who auditioned for this show and the voice ( I think it was the voice) and its crazy because I don't think people know that you actually have to audition before your even allowed on the show and in front of the judges. My friend said that she did two rounds of auditions and she didn't make it to the show despite her actually being able to sing. One of my other friends made it on the show but they cut his part because he wouldn't corporate with the producers. It's insane that they try to make it seem like these people are auditioning for the first time when in reality they have audition at least once before. This is why I feel especially sad for the people who actually can't sing and get to go on because they are then under the impression that they actually can sing and that they have a chance when in reality the whole purpose for them being there is just entertainment. this is why I completely understand the meltdown regardless of how insane they seem. imajcen auditioning twice and being told your an amazing singer and even beating out some talented people only to get on stage and Simon says your voice is garbage. Id be pissed.
