@@harpreetsinghtoor315 Graphene is way too far away to be involved in the price drop that will make EV´s viable. luckily there are a metric fuck ton of new battery types that will make it before that. Solid-state batts will be the next step in battery evolution, perhaps followed by fluoride-ion batteries. the latter should also get a definitive advantage over fuel cells and biofuels in terms of performance.

I am DEFINITELY getting an e-Bike in the future. It's a natural evolution for motorcycles. However, the battery life still needs developing. Once they can do 200 miles then it will become feasible IMO. I'd hate to stop every 80-100 for a possible 4-hr charge, especially when traveling long distances. For now, e-bikes are not designed for "traveling long distances." Used to be my Ford Focus Electric--whose range fully charged was around 80 miles. Perfect for the commute to work, to the grocery store, doctor's appt. But notice all those destinations are local. The FFE was not intended for road travel. We knew its limitations and it served those puposes reliably and economically. Today's e-bikes are the Ford Focus Electrics of the motorcycle world.

Gogoro of Taiwan has it figured out - their batteries take seconds to swap out, so they have a network of charging stations all over the city. Running out? Pull into a station, swap batteries and you're on your way. Even faster than gas. IMO, the battery and the network is the killer app for electric bikes.

Having ridden petrol bikes for over 40 years I could not see myself moving to an electric motorcycle then having ridden the 2020 SRF model last week I was blown away, even the lack of noise did not bother me, the only thing you compare is the freedom you get with riding a motorcycle and the performance when overtaking and accelerating out of a bend and on those points it ticks all the boxes. If you love smelly noisy two strokes then this will not be for you guys and it will not be for everyone but for everyone else try one for and don't knock it too much before you try one.

I think they need to do something like the way some cars have the sound of the motor go through the speakers so the driver can hear it better. IF you could somehow have different sound modes that could increase and change the sound it makes that would be awesome. It’s awesome, but not for the price. Zero must be overpricing it. they should make it cheaper and probably sell a lot more. Even here in Norway, where the infrastructure regarding electric chargers are probably the best in the world, it’s still not worth the money. The design, materials used etc can be compared with a petroleum bike that cost half that money. Electric bikes is easier to mass produce too..?! Price should be around 13K USD in my humble opinion. Range should also be at least 300km on highway.

Zero simply does not have the production capacity. AFIK they do not have a massive Cell Production factory have to buy it from suppliers. @@Neojhun I mostly agree, but I don't think every company has to make their own cells to make prices reasonable. That's like every fabless semi company building their own fab. I think eventually we'll have enough suppliers and the suppliers will be big enough to drop the prices. Currently not even car manufacturers other than freakin' Tesla, VW or maybe some Chinese brands (?) make their own.

@@at0m113 Unlike Semi the process is much simpler and it much more reliant on Raw Materials and Large Scale. Semi Conductor Fabless & Foundry model works because the each product unit is soo Expensive and require massive investment into new advance tooling. That is reversed for Cells.

Although the Zero's motor has higher torque output than the LiveWire and Energica Eva, it is geared higher so has less torque at the rear wheel. In terms of rear wheel torque the pecking order is LiveWire, then Eva, then the SR/F. As you pointed out, the SR/F has a weight advantage, so it would be interesting to do a three way drag race to find out which one is the fastest. Then in terms of motor cooling, the LiveWire uses water cooling, the Eva uses oil cooling, while the SR/F uses only air cooling. So the SR/F would be the most likely to suffer from overheating in a track day situation.

I test-rode it. It's worth it. Remember that with the instant torque it will be quicker than any mass-produced super bike off the line. Gas bikes have to rev-up to red-line to hit their peak power/torque. The super bikes (gas) will have a higher top end speed, but 124 MPH is enough for me. Two reasons I haven't ordered one yet: I'm waiting until the 'PowerTank' is available for longer range (supposed to be available by the end of the year), and I'm also waiting to see what Lightning does with their 'Strike'. (They've kept us in suspense for 6 months now).
