Thanks - in the case of my country, the Czech republic, we are currently buying 40% of our needs from Russia, however due to the enlargement of the TAL pipeline, which goes from Italy to Germany and then via IKL pipeline to Czech rep., we are going to stop on the 1st of January 2025. Gas purchase from Russia we have stopped in March 2023 already...

😂 eu and democracy? Believe me i live in eu and demicracy it is not. Russia sell high quality gas and oil for over 50 years for europe. Aaa i get it is better to buy Russian oil ang gas from usa ehich do not invade 1 country but over 50. Like Europian i wish eu will cancel itself yeasterday.

Slovakia and Hungary had 2 years to replace the Russian oil. While other countries did it in months. It's just unbelievably stupid to give money to a country that is fighting your neighbour and has started the biggest war in Europe since WW2. I wish Hungary could take its pro-Russian stance and leave EU.

Well, it's not crude oil, it's refined products. Good for India, I would say. Russia is paid in Indian Rupees, with a large discount. Gas prices world wide never changed, good for Europe and Ukraine.

I am ashamed that we here in Slovakia are buying Russian oil. Our Slovakian and Hungarian market is pretty small and I am pretty sure if the Russians lose Slovakian and Hungarian buyers it will not make a significant difference in their budget.

Slovak government is in this case helpless. The only oil refinery in Slovakia belongs to Hungarian MOL. The only option how to force change would be nationalize it which is almost unthinkable in the EU and probably even illegal. It would take years and years or lawsuits and arbitrages to do. It is basically easier to just import final products and deal with deficit created by missing taxes than do that.

Tariff all imports from these countries by 30%. Put import caps on goods, services, etc from these nations. Put monthly increasing pressure on these nations to decrease over time (5% a month seems reasonable) or be locked out of trade opportunities, fined, and be held accountable in Russia's war crimes. Not only that but make this the standard for ALL nations including ourselves going forward. Push the UN (even though it doesn't matter tbh) to make this a legal framework for dealing with ANYONE invading a recognized nation. Cut India a little slack as they're a neutral nation historically with close ties to Russia due to reasonable frustration with the west. China? They're providing equipment for the Russian war effort no slack for them, Turkey, Hungary, etc? Throw the book at them.

It seems unfair that Western media often fail to mention that the Hungarian MOL Group refines Urals crude oil, which we cannot import from anywhere else due to our refinery configurations. I'm not supporting Orbán, but as a Hungarian, I feel this oversight misrepresents our situation. For example, the US buys oil from Saudi Arabia, a country whose actions, such as the conflict in Yemen, the killing of journalists, and severe restrictions on women's rights, starkly contrast with Western norms. These purchases are also due to refinery configurations. Additionally, Hungary is currently facing a severe crisis, much worse than other parts of Europe, and we cannot afford more expensive energy. PS: These biased takes only push more people to vote for Orbán, as they feel underrepresented in the EU.

Good for Ukraine in taking this proactive measure. My only confusion is why the EU has not fined members who bought oil directly or indirectly from Russia. Hypocrisy of looking away or is UDVL getting a covert payment? I think it is more widespread. Also why aren't Eastern countries facing sanctions? The West should end aid to India as it is now a very wealthy country from Western investments & also Pakistan as a hub for terrorist groups. Companies which use such places for cheap labour should face tariffs as they take away much needed employment from home countries - not very patriotic. Musk stole engineering from Americans who he sacked & gave it to China for favours, now they outsell the technology given which also raises security & intellectual theft.

@@mantasbarcys6509 I mean that India didn't have a choice. Europe started buying from India's traditional suppliers, (middle east), pushing the prices up. Now Europe can afford higher oil prices. They are 25 times richer than India. Countries like inside though have no choice but to buy where oil is cheap. Another aspect is that Europe consistently opposed any way to end the war through negotiations. Why should India be paying for an EU-USA-Russia big dick Contest?

That's a strange question, it's like saying why are these people still eating food. I know there are different kinds of nutrition,but the global economy still needs and depends on oil and gas. Most importantly, they have no reason not to buy Russian Oil. It's that's simple and obvious if you understand global politics outside the EU and USA.

You cannot buy Russian oil from Russia. You should buy more expensive Russian oil from India like Germany and others. If someone uses a different pipe, it does not mean that it is not Russian oil. Don't believe the half-truth news!

by purchasing Russian oil, India actually helps to keep the global price low. Of course unless you wish to lose the next election because the cost of living has gone up. If India bought the oil legally on the global markets the rest of us would be paying closer to $100 a barrel

Possession is 9/10 th of the law. The oil is in Russian soil and no amount of sanction will work. NATO best learn this by not starting wars in future. Maybe NATO, or just Germany can send a dozen armored divisions to just go in and grab the Russian gas/oil fields. Why don't you ask the French whether they want to join the fun. Dress warm !
