Not sure I'd call a Pontiac Fiero a "nightmare" to drive, but it was pretty stupid of GM to use Chevette/Citation parts on what should have been the coolest sports car ever. Nightmare to drive category? 1976 Buick Electra 225. 233 inches long, or 19.5 feet. My brother owned one and came home to visit when I just had my permit. I decided I was going to visit a friend who lived down the street from my brother so when he went home, I went with him. He said I could drive. Ok. It was great until the adventure missing parked cars on both sides of the street AND a school bus coming up. Nothing was hit but that Buick NEVER bounced so much. He didn't let me drive his ride after that, even when I got my license. Haha.

Some of the criticisms noted were more what I’d call disappointments not nightmares. A 60s/70s Musclecar with manual steering, manual transmission and non power 4 wheel drum brakes, along with little to no insulation or decent ventilation, on a summer day, is what I’d call a beauty but a nightmare to drive!

I’d vote to take the Corvette C2 off this list. First American four wheel independent suspension and four wheel disc brakes. At the time it was a great handling car. It can’t compare to new cars today, but even against today’s standards, it handles pretty well.

I call bull! The Fiero was the best lil sport car I owned! Fast and sleek! The issue was the engine fires which were caused by wiring which I fixed before the news came out, There was No recall either, the electric wiring was touching the cotton hood cover and got hot causing the fires! I saw the burnt strip and tied the wires with electric tape away from the hood!

By 1955 you could get a 265 v8 in a corvette,it was faster than almost every other american car at the time.I was told by a tow company owner that the Fiero,could only be towed with a roll back.The doors could fly open if towed with a regular wrecker and the whole car could fold up.Oh.there"s no R in Alfa Romeo.

Only the 1987-1988 had the dismal 9+ second 0-60 times. They were equipped with a 4.1 liter 170 hp engine. The 200 hp 4.5 editions built from 1989-1992 had a 0-60 time of 7.9 seconds. But the engine pictured in the video is the Northstar 4.6 liter it’s anything but sluggish. It had 295 hp and a very respectable 6.4second 0-60 time it was a one year only production in 1993. You might want to note that fact, especially since you showed the most powerful engine as you were stating the dismal performance numbers.

The Amc Pacer was actually designed for the rotary motor. GM pulled the plug on selling the motor to AMC at the last minute because of reliability issues. Which forced amc to install the 258. Jeep motor. Which was a tragic decision.

Where do y'all get your information from, I mean totally criticizing the 1st gen Corvette because of its lack of amenities, really? It was a bare bones spots car, or was supposed to be anyway. By the time the C3 had come along Zora Arkus-Duntov had been developing the Corvette into a true performer instead of a cruiser. Another thing to consider is that American cars of the 50s, 60s, and 70s were not known for their handling abilities, it was mainly all about straight line performance at that time or soft cushy riding vehicles.

Interesting picks for the list. Great footage as well. You know the later Cadillac Allante's had more power from the Northstar V8. The early ones had the 170 hop 4100 V8. I enjoyed watching the featured content. As far as the Pontiac Fiero by the time GM got it right, the stopped making the car. I was shocked to see the Mercury Cougar on the list as it was a great seller.

I think the Cougar that should of made the list is the last gen one that was more of a Miata. Not surprising because Mazda was a part of Ford at the time.
@OLDS98
@OLDS98 9 ай бұрын
@@stevejarred6484 You are referring to the last Mazda based one that was supposed to replace the Ford Probe and that one was sold in Europe as the Ford Cougar. I do not think that one was popular. Maybe they were trying to take it back to its roots how it started in the 1960's. I do see your point.

🤣🤣🤣 AMC Pacer, Wow that's a fish bowl on wheels. That many BIG windows I bet you would or should use sunblock to drive to grocery store 😜. The Chevy Nova did look sharp but that full bench front seat was good for only one thing Drive in Movies with your girl made Necking way easier 😘. The DeLorian also wasn't car to own if you did alot of drive through meals because the windows don't roll down 😖😔 and yes NO power it took a whole day to go from 0-60 🤔 umm not really but it felt like it, a friend's Dad owned one and yeah wasn't impressed looked kool though. Hey guys another well put together video posting 👍👍👍👍. The channel just keeps getting better n better. Did you happen to have or get any info on Cadillacs El Camino type vehicle..?? I bought a brand new base model Pontiac Fiero in 1986. 2.5L four/5 speed. Only options were dealer installed alloy wheels and a deck lid luggage rack. It was gold with a tan interior. I absolutely loved that car. It was my first, and only, new car. I kept it for 11 years and put over 180,000 miles on it, and never had any problems. Yes, when you got into the V6 models, I can see how they could have some issues. The Fiero was never designed for the 2.8, they just crammed it in there, and it was virtually impossible to work on. The original GT front fascia, and later GT rear end were never part of the original design either, just like the extra instrument pod that was just stacked on top of the original. The Fiero was originally designed to be an affordable, sporty, commuter car that would be a blast to drive. And it succeeded brilliantly. But because it looked like a sports car, people started complaining because it didn't perform like a sports car, so GM started trying to improve its performance. The price went through the roof, and things started to go wrong. Roger BS decided to cancel it. The Fiero incorporated some amazing new construction technology. Its price was kept down by using a lot of existing components that worked fine. In every way, the original was a huge success. I used to belong to the FOCOA (Fiero Owners Club of America) If you can find a copy, I suggest reading the book Fiero: Pontiac's Potent Mid Engine Sports Car, by Gary Witzenburg, for a ton of information about the Fiero, from concept to the sad ending.

This list definitely has some issues . You could get the Nova SS with the 396 / 350 or 375 h.p. in 1968 . Most vehicles made in the 60's and 70's had multiple engine options depending on your wallet . The C1 had its issues but by 56 it was looking much better than the 53 - 55 cars . 63 - 67 Corvettes were not terrible either . Most fun I have had was driving a friend's 65 Corvette Stingray coupe with 327 / 365 engine 4 speed transmission with 4.11 gearing and side exhaust. I have driven some really awesome Vettes over the years .

Why is the Allante on the list and not it's competition the - the Maserati TC by Chrysler? Even though the Chrysler had a 16 valve head, the rest of the engine was still only a Chrysler 2.2 liter turbo (Until Chrysler offered a Mitsubishi V-6) and everyone thought the TC was a tarted up Chrysler Le Baron convertible when you parked them side-by-side

Lambo Countach, Was a complete disaster to drive. The build quality was awful. The rear diff could grenade if you pushed it. The clutch required effort that would have made Arnold think it was a work out. The AC almost non-existent. The Windows hardly worked and leaked. And finally, the fuel system leaked like a sprinkler and would fill the cabin with the smell of gasoline.

The Chevy Nova well I had a 77 and it was actually a two-door police interceptor car. I had two more that were high performance options as well as a Nova with a 250 inline 6 cylinder. They all did well on gas they handled decent to the curves compared to anything else on the road at the time. Also anova wasn't really a muscle car it was just a cheap little hot rod at the time. There were arguments for years if they should be called a muscle car.
