I will be taking delivery of my FUV within this month. I just cannot wait to start my commute with this ride. It is a twenty mile one way route with city and freeway driving. Being less dependent on oil and gas should be awesome. The ability to use the HOV lane alone and escape paying for commercial parking lots makes me feel illicitly salacious. Plugging in at night to charge up should be no worse than charging a scooter or Onewheel. Total cost for me is $24K with doors and lockbox, tax, fees and everything else. Which currently in SoCal, is cheaper than anything else, new or used. Except maybe an ElectraMeccanica Solo. See you at Fully Charged Live.

I have been a shareholder of FUV since their first appearance on "Now you Know " about a year ago. I blew all my spare cash £25,000 GBP on TE$LA @ $50.70 last Oct just a couple of weeks before I saw that piece, So as a pensioner I can only afford $200 a month on Fuv shares ever since. I know there is a huge market for their 3 wheeler and they will make me as much money with FUV as I have made with TE$LA. I just hope they come to an agreement with TE$LA for this brand new battery tech to be anounced on the 22nd. Eddie in Scotland. I just ordered my FUV after being on the wait list for a couple of years. I currently drive a Nissan Leaf I’ve had since 2013 (I leased it for 3 years and then purchased it). I have been impressed with the reduced maintenance costs of the electric cars as well as the convenience of charging at home. I love motorcycles but live in The PNW where the weather is cool and rainy most of the time. I ordered the doors on the FUV. The Leaf is perfect, but the FUV looks like so much fun. In addition to Bram's comment, Arcimoto is using a similar model as with a lot of start-ups (e.g. Tesla, Rivian, etc) where initial sales come from the their higher end model which is the Evergreen (model/trim) FUV. Arcimoto plans on eventually selling a much cheaper model, I believe around $10k, after they have generated some revenue from the Evergreen and now also the Deliverator and Rapid Responder sales. Pricing was one of the areas TBD and Mark unfortunately did not cover in what was a pretty good interview.

$20k is too expensive for most people to afford it in addition to their 'big' car. Also, in 'the big city' where this vehicle makes the most sense? My experience is that the majority of people don't have a parking spot with electricity available. Nor the parking space for more than one vehicle. This is a vehicle only applicable to affluent suburban (but not overly remote) residents. IMO that's too small a target group to disrupt much of anything.
@PM_824 жыл бұрын
They cast 20k now but with scale and cost saving methods they are aiming for 10k cars in the future for basemodel. It does have a lot of markets like stated in the delivery market, also in europe and great for countries like india, sri lanka etc.

I live where Arcimoto is, and had two job interviews with them. I desperately wanted to work there, but they are not a great company. They kinda jerked me around, and I was later advised to "walk away from them" by someone who really knew the company and management well. They were "about to release" their first production model for over a decade, and yeah, their trike is extremely expensive for what it is. If they'd had to turn a profit earlier (instead of having a rich guy who could keep throwing money at bad ideas), maybe they'd have gotten somewhere, but the world of EVs has changed dramatically since Arcimoto started, and there is a lot more competition.

@bmay88184 жыл бұрын
@@DougGrinbergs I don't think Mark is a bad guy, but he is rich, and therefore has less incentive to actually produce a profit-making product. If Arcimoto can actually make a product that people actually buy in significant numbers, I'm all for it, absolutely! We need more EVs out there. I just don't see that happening. It's pretty bothersome how Mark dodges the "what about, you know, weather and your mostly unenclosed vehicle?" question by trying to tell us that the experience of having rain blown into you is a feature, not a bug. It just looks like a toy, and for not a lot more, one could get a Tesla that's far more practical.
@chillspike_gameplay4 жыл бұрын
B May Allow me to present a different perspective. The people who would be interested in an FUV won't be concerned about range, safety or weather. It already has enough range for most people's uses. And it's also a step up in safety from a motorcycle anyway. They are going to be concerned about one thing: Getting in a new, multi-road ev for as cheaply as possible so they can bring down running and maintenance costs of getting from point A to point B. They are sick of paying for gas, dealing with breakdowns and mechanics and polluting the planet. Getting in an ev is their top priority and the FUV, even at $20k, is one of the cheaper ways to do it in the States. Yes there are cheaper used ev cars out there but most, if not all, are discontinued so parts and maintenance might be expensive and replacing the larger battery on an ev car might also be more expensive than on a FUV. So the FUV hits a number of sweets spots for some cost conscious people. It puts them in a new ev that is currently in production for less than most, if not all, new ev cars available in the States. Brings down the daily driving costs. And brings down the lifetime care and maintenance costs.

I have seen a couple of vids of the FUV in snow, after all the HQ is in the Pacific NW. Granted the FUV was being driven in not too deep of snow, but after all it's certainly not going to handle like a car or ATV in the snow. It will however handle much better than a motorcycle which it is technically classified as. How often do people use their motorcycle in the snow? I'm in a temperate climate zone so, yea, it's not likely to be a year round vehicle for me but I can see using it at least 3 seasons if not more throughout the year. I guess it just depends how much snow fall you get where you're at and how well the roads are cleared and maintained.

This works for me because my main concern is not range (I don't have far to go every day) but paying for gas and maintenance on a gas car. I don't want to pay a dime for gas anymore and hate all the maintenance costs of gas vehicles. I think the fuv will appeal to people desperate to escape the running expense of a gas car who aren't concerned about too much range. But if you want to go 100 miles in an fuv just take the back roads and go slower!
@chillspike_gameplay4 жыл бұрын
I've been reading some of the reservations and criticisms about the FUV and have to say a lot of them miss the point entirely...especially weak are the ones that claim "Tesla's going to do this" and "Tesla's going to do that" in some years time so why bother. Completely ignoring that Arcimoto could improve their vehicle platform in "some years time" too. And the "you can just get a car" criticisms also miss the point. We are using and insuring too much vehicle for trips that are predominantly one or two people at best.

So, this is pretty cool, but my feeling is they are calling this a motorcycle to avoid crash requirements. Not sure how I feel about that as it's a complicated issue. As other's have mentioned, the price is much, much too high- I can buy an entry level sedan for less. Also, 75mph seems much too fast. Still, this is an emerging market and the standard 110V charging is super appealing for the average person. Really good conversation here
@Nphen4 жыл бұрын
I had a similar feeling but in many ways this is so much safer than a motorcycle. I ride my DIY 750w e-bike up to about 35 MPH on roads where there are bike lanes or a wide shoulder. It's harrowing. If I had a faster e-bike that could hit 45 miles an hour, I would for sure have disc brakes and be careful in traffic. The FUV gives you what even a $20,000 ebike cannot - the ability to outrun traffic on any road short of a freeway. It's not a distance driver. Probably small enough to drive up the ramp of a Cybertruck!

How are these obviously single selfish minded people who should not be allowed to make such drastic changes in our transportation doing away with all existing cars with no other option for those that dont want them. Not to mention the cost most likely unafordable to some. Many people like here think its insane. Take these things someplace where all like minded as youz and drive anything youz like . this is ridiculous to be ienabled to decide for everyone .

You need a big investor to start up a 30-100 units per day factory. You need to put enough on the streets so they will sell themselves. Until they get up in numbers, they will not make it beyond a small business and it will take too long to reach that scale. Someone like Harley Davidson will ramp up and blow you out of the market. Tesla did it, you need to do this to stay main stream.

They have more orders than they can fulfill. Simon Cowell's overpriced, overpowered "ebike" (e-motorcycle) was $20,000. Plenty of people have that much to spend on toys that doubles as a replacement for a grocery getter. I'm a delivery driver who once delivered on 35mph scooter. The Arcimoto is worth $20k, and is a steal of a vehicle even at $15k which is halfway to their planned $10k future low-end model.

I really liked this interview. I'd to see this company succeed, and really would like to get behind Arcimoto - but I'm not sold. My view: PROS Novelty Size Convenience CONs Safety Price Psgr v Cargo Range? Seasonal Future proof They claim autonomy is part of the vision, but when that day comes any personal vehicle carrying more than a single person will presumably want to have a more communal environment. Vehicles now are arranged in a utilitarian function, the necessity for this will disappear (and does now when possible, ie. Limousines, Rear screen entertainment) Worth mentioning in an interview with Now You Know they remarked at how easy it was to communicate back and forth which is great for now, but their current psgr setup will become a compromise in the future. Tesla's are bar none the safest vehicles on the road atm, and have signaled and low cost psgr car. Some have dubbed it a model 2 which would be fitting if it's a 2 seater. It will probably fit the same form factor as their current models to participate in tunnel routes created by the boring company. All this without sacrificing safety. Pricing is disproportionate to the functionality of say a Tesla model 3 which means that the price is focused on the fun factor aka a toy. If autonomy gains a foothold this decade how will this be affected? How will this compete with Uber/Lyft/Robotaxi business model, where for a nominal fee you can be ported to and fro in various vehicles, ie. take a bigger back home after a shopping spree, arriving separately leaving in a group. Atm the cost is prohibitive. I don't see this taking off for the personal market, but can fill a niche in the commercial environment. Unfortunately, I think this is on the same path as the original Segway. If this had been massed produced 10+ yrs ago it would have been a real hit. Unless I'm missing something, going forward sadly it's a miss.

How could you even think, that this 'thing' at this price will become a success? As example, with the German eGo you get much more value for the bug. It's cheaper and a full functional mini-car you can drive in bad weather and even winter. Other brands will come up with even cheaper small EVs. Arcimotos at 20k$ is a joke an good for maybe 20-30k vehicles for enthusiasts, but there is no way that this impractical thing will 'disrupt' anything. Even for 8-9k$ it will just be acceptable as fun car.

I don't see this as a second vehicle at $20k unless you live in a FL beach and/or retirement community. It will eat into a lot of golf cart sales in those areas. At the current price, delivery services will flock to these vehicles. That market has gotten a lot bigger with restaurant and grocery deliveries during the pandemic. My sister gets all most all of her groceries delivered. I bet in more urban areas fedx and amazon are also looking at the potential cost savings for deliveries that are close to distribution centers. The real issue with this company becoming disruptive is the manufacturing process. Are they following Tesla's foot prints and changing at the "speed of thought." The term came from Sandy Munro and he has actually been helping Arcimoto with their manufacturing processes. If that relationship is bearing some fruit, we could see the price drop significantly with design improvements and higher volume manufacturing. If they can get the price down to what a motorcycle costs ($10k to 15k), then there might be something here. The Sandy Munroe consulting was important for their success.

These don't have enough room for the likes of Amazon or FedEx. They didn't look like they can even fit long packages. I could see a pizza delivery place looking at them, though, if they go down in price.

If the "early adopters" are preferred and you did not get the chance to be an early adopter because of living in another country it will even make it longer for you to wait. Don't know if that a feasible company policy. I might be upset with arcimoto once they have achieved to bring one of that small things to Europe. I remember that Tesla even brought their relativly big 1st roadster to Europe very early this differentiates Teslas approach from arcimotos.

Emberblack that would be nice. I guess I thought since they’ve been around so long their production was larger. My next concern for them would be if Tesla produces a $20-$30k car. Comparing your product to what else and comparable exists is a big fact before production along with feasibility. Let’s hope they have a good plan. I wish them well.
@emberblack90854 жыл бұрын
@@SteveBueche1027 I dont think tesla is going to produce such cheap car anytime soon, either way, comptetetion is good, market is big enough for few similar products and lets not forget, fuv is not a car, it has a bit different use, different experience and also some advantages over classical cars. I think if they manage to get price down, lets say to 10k, it would be very compelling product for mass market. But even now with a price tag of 20k its still a great value and good choice for many people and companies, enough to create a backlong for at least next few years.

All well and good for people who live in mild climates, but what about the millions of us who live in colder, seasonal environments? Will you manufacture EV's which are fully enclosed, insulated, and heated?
@popeyegordon2 жыл бұрын
Not insulated but enclosed. It already has heated seats, hand grips and defroster. The wrap around windshield and roof combine to prevent much wind chill. It is a warmer and safer ride than any motorcycle ever made. Not for all climates though, just as a snowmobile is not a failed design because it is worthless in Florida. Many northerners only can live there because they think nothing of abusing the raw brute force of fossil fueled vehicles to bash through winter weather at the expense of starving drought refugees in other nations. Something has to change. Go back to holing up for the winter.
