Welcome fellow Oregonians! We moved to Thailand from Salem 12 months ago and we love it. Our situation is the same. I would not have been able to retire with my husband if we had not moved here. We are just south of Pattaya in a small town and would not change it for nothing. The fentanyl crisis is fueling the homeless population in oregon. The cost of living in Oregon is on the top 5 for taxes in tue country of the US. We loved Oregon but we were going to struggle in our retirement years of we stayed there.

It's not for everyone. I tried retirement in Thailand it didn't work out for me I lasted 12 months . My advice is try it for at least 12 months look around and do not think it's going to be anything like home it's not it is completely different in the way things are done and the attitude of the people is different on the most part very good .learn the customs the laws and as much of the language as possible remember you are a guest in their home .

I liked the advice or Po and his wife. I have four locations in Thailand (including PKK) 15:20 15:20 as well as Malaysia, Vietnam and Cambodia that I plan to spend at least 2 weeks. Not so much as a tourist but to consider as a home base.

Wow, $ 8000 usd per month to live in Portland for 2 people, that's insane. I live in a major city in Canada, it costs me just $2200 CAD dollars pm, (
@thaigirlgiftforeignerjoe777412 күн бұрын
Nice that you can live off of $2200 CAD. It would cost $2200 USD just to rent a decent 2 bed 2 bath in Florida.

Thanks for the video, if I have to retire in Thailand in my early 50's now, I need to have at least $3K or B100K of monthly pension plus $100K of extra savings for emergency. That won't happen until late 2025 or early 2026 to be living in Thailand for good.

I don't know why The People aren't doing anything about housing cost in Oregon? I heard there are 3 major corporations running the housing business. If the people know how to go to war to protect other people's country in the middle-east, why can't the people find a resolution for rent control which is a basic necessity .

If Po is successful in his Thai citizenship application (and I see no reason why he wouldn't be), Kelly, being his wife would be a dependent of Po. Therefore she would qualify for Thai citizenship as well because she is a dependent of Po (now a Thai citizen). They would have no need to meet any financial requirements in order to stay in the country. I'm not an expert but that is my understanding. Good luck folks.
@thaigirlgiftforeignerjoe777411 күн бұрын
Unfortunately marring a Thai citizen doesn’t give a foreign spouse a right or pathway to citizenship. The spouse can however apply for a marriage visa as long as the meet the financial requirements, which is 400K baht in their Thai bank account or an incoming income/pension of 40,000 Baht or more a month from abroad. Links to this info in the description and pinned comment of this video.
@billybob752211 күн бұрын
Thanks, but your link points me to various websites and not the info you suggest is wrong in my comment. The key enabler here is that the male is a Thai citizen, and in Thai culture, the female is dependent on the male. This should give the female foreigner a pathway ro Thai citizenship. Don't get me wrong, there will inevitably be other hoops to jump through in order to be successful. I've read various advice from other legal websites suggesting this pathway, Siam Legal being one of them. No harm in Po and his wife following this up. Requirements:- Q Application form and documents required: A foreign woman married to a Thai husband applying for Thai citizenship must submit an application form (Sor Chor.1) with evidence such as an identity card, marriage certificate, and photo. Plus fees etc.
@thaigirlgiftforeignerjoe777411 күн бұрын
Sorry I inadvertently left out the word “automatic” what I meant to say a Foreigner marring a Thai doesn’t give them an automatic right or path to Thai Citizenship. There are requirements that have to be met. Here is a link that hopefully explains those requirements. In saying this, I am not nor do I claim to be an expert nor do I have the knowledge to provide any type of advice in regard to Thai immigration or Thailand’s laws. www.thaicitizenship.com/thai-citizenship-for-foreigners-married-to-a-thai/

Is the 65k/month baht per person...So an all US married couple both on retirement visas would need 130k baht per month coming into Thailand?
