That's one of the many reasons you shouldn't purchase animals from places like Petco or PetSmart! I used to work there and the amount of uneducated people we had to sell to was just sad.. ppl would want to buy a pleco for a 10 gallon and when I told them it would grow to be 12" they said they could just release it🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

That will only happen if they are starved. Plecos have to be fed, and require a steady source of biofilm on top of that to survive. If all they have access to is algae, they will starve and begin to predate on other fish in the tank out of desperation

@bl0pez772
@bl0pez772 9 ай бұрын
@MB-un2fb They eat A LOT. Constantly. They also produce ENORMOUS amounts of waste. Depending on the type of pleco, some are omnivorous (insects, plant material) but most are biofilm grazers and are exclusively herbivores. If there are dead things in the tank, they may be opportunistic and nibble on them. But they aren't carnivorous and won't predate on fish unless they're literally starving.

I have plecos and they've never done that to any of my other fish. They're super peaceful and docile. I feed them specifically and they have a planted tank with driftwood to rasp on.

I got into aquariums because whenever I saw one in malls or other homes, but I made the mistake of trusting the fish store personnel to stock my 80 gallon aquarium with colorful fish and they included several plecostamus that started small and grew huge. Also, they were very skittish whenever I had to clean the tank and would thrash around the tank and occasionally injuring other fish. They really don’t do a very good job of kicking the algae grow so I still had to manually clean the corners, the landscape plants, figurines, etc. After several years I finally learned to use multiple systems of water filtrations, proper timed feeding systems so that I could be gone for four to six months and return to a healthy biodiverse aquarium.

If people were smart, they’d catch them and sell them at a better price than what you’d get at a pet store! Not only will you get a bigger one but the price will be much lower than the competition! 🤔😀👌🏻 it’s a win win!
@jazzycat1390
@jazzycat1390 9 ай бұрын
Did you not learn the basics of supply and demand? If they sell them locally no one would buy it since it's everywhere and if they try to sell it elsewhere then the cost of shipping wouldn't be worth buying it or selling it in the first place. Also there are laws against the transport or selling of invasive species and they are registered as wild animals so you would need a special permit for such. So if you're smart then you wouldn't try to sell them as pets not only because of the legal troubles you would get in but also the costs to sell would be greater than the price people already can buy it for.

Also, what's the deal with mexicans naming their state as "United States of Mexican" instead of "United States of America, Southern Latino Sector"? Don't they have enough money to buy a map and see they're in North America? or do they lump themselves in with the other mexican countries in Central & Southern America? As far as this undocumented immigrant fish, at least they came up with the right idea to "handle" it - shaft it on sight and then "ICE" it.
