It‘s crazy to me that Justin was only 19 when he dropped this. His management and label didnt support him during this process because they didnt want him to do r&b, but he did this album nevertheless and just dropped it without any promotion. He was doing a world tour at that time, overworked, doing drugs due to his anxiety and high pressure from the industry, so in a very very bad place mentally but he turned it into Journals and I will always thank him for this album. Its my favorite album ever. Words can‘t describe how much it means to me

Lemme address the “keep it gangsta” lyric and the “you’re not actually light skin Jb” comment He was 14-15 yrs old when he was mentored by usher Diddy L.A. Reid. Jb was around many influential black people. And now knowing what we know about diddy and Justin Biebers relationship throughout his teenage years with him, I think his lyric is understandable. I find the judgement of his choice of lyrics or slang disappointing tbh. Especially without the background knowledge of his life at this time and his life leading up to this. His people had him convinced he was “gangsta” please do ur research to have understanding on someone’s timeline in their career to have less judgement on their choice of words. Also ludacris usher were on his first album. Boys 2 men, busta rhymes on his second album. Big Sean, ludacris, drake, nicki Minaj third album. Justin Grew up listening to primarily rnb and hip hop. He was discovered from his covers of Neyo usher etc… again knowledge is key you guys. He was not thrown into a “new crowd” he been part of it. Besides this I like ur channel

But to your comment of let another guy come and ask for what he asked for on the change me track, he was being very sincere in acknowledging his ways and his approach - then asking for what he believes would compliment his flaws during a time in his life where things were extremley difficult for him. Alot of todays asks of womens are hardly ever met with behavioural acknowledgment of the person asking IMO
