Despite all the keyboards I've reviewed and the customs I built, I'm still using the Corsair K95 Platinum RGB keyboard every single day as my main since it's 2017 release.

Let me refrase your comment. "When he built a $650 custom keyboard but Corsair sponsored him to say he uses a Corsair One. Once you tried better switches, you can't ever go back the cherry garbage. I keep seeing so many ppl and reviewers talking big about gaming and fast switches, but everyone ignore kailh chocs and LK, and they keep praising shorter than practical actuation point distances for gaming (razer LK optical switches and any 45-50g switch with less than 1.5mm actuation distance).. Like.....dude, if your play super mario, you're not a fking gamer.... Sweet spot for gaming it's 1.5 act with 3mm travel. The actuation distance it's not too short to miss click when rest your fingers on the keys (this happens to ppl that have 30-50keybinds), and 3mm travel it's the best balance between being fast and having enough travel for your brain to register the feedback, when you hit a combination of 4-5 keys in 300 to 500ms. Maybe you can shorten both to 1.4 and 2.8 or even get to 1.4 and 2.6/2.7, but that's a bit pushing it, and it's starting to hit the realm of personal preference. So fed up with so much BS.

I think this was your best produced video that I have seen. Everything from the subtle closeup focus shot on the Corsair's volume control to the fast motion shot of you putting together your custom keyboard. I really have to say since I've been watching your program now for about the past three years or so that you have definitely made great improvements in your direction, cinematography, and editing technique. Your videos now flow much more naturally and concisely which my old film production teacher used to say "Less is more." Which you have taken to heart. Great job! Look forward to seeing your next one soon. :)

This keyboard has been “the one” for me. The size, spacing, RGB media keys and in particular the speed switches keep me coming back. The switches feel fast and light. I can maintain regular typing at 100-135 WPM without fatigue, and I find gaming to be easier without having to push through an actuation point. I tried a cherry brown keyboard recently which was really fun to type on but I was frustrated with how many millisecond-off mistakes I made gaming. I’m sure I would’ve adjusted over time, but it was still more fatiguing to push. Anyway, great keyboard, I understand why it’s a keeper.

you can fix all of the reasons with other devices: The macros wth a stream deck USB passthrough can be fixed with a USB hub For the switches, there are plenty of equivalent switches and there are also things like the apex pro tkl, which is linear and you can make the actuation point how you want Most decent gaming keyboards have pretty good RGB For the multimedia keys, there are plenty of stand-alone knobs and small boards that can act as multimedia keys

@mvmhunterkiller
@mvmhunterkiller 4 жыл бұрын
@@javierelozano That's not entirely true, the built in stream deck on the K95 is very limited and only limited to one profile so you can only use 6 keys from the stream deck software, this is something that no one I have come across on KZbin or forums that has spoken about it and I'm a very disappointed by Corsairs decision about this limitation for the keyboards that support stream deck. If you own the stream deck hardware, you can create multiple profiles, just not between the keyboards and the software.

@@trash3570 TrashKanKid true but he already mentions he uses the passthrough for the streamdeck, which he can just leave plugged in direcly into the computer, he already uses an amp for his headphones, which many of them have knobs(i dont know which one he uses) and there are plenty of usb passthroughs that mount under the desk or behind the monitor so its not on the desk

@Magrlo •Minecraft• First of all, the type of material doesn't mean shit about legends fading away. It's caused by printing method. Again, doubleshot in pbt is very hard to make - the only good looking ones which use doubleshot pbt are leopold keycaps. But in the light of the abs doubleshot they don't stand a chance. Abs is just more smoother gets shiny, white abs yellows overtime, but has more vibrant color, doubleshot is much easier - just look at the gmk keycaps or og cherry doubleshots. Pbt has rougher texture, doesn't get shiny as easily as abs doesn't yellow overtime, but only long lasting method is dyesublimation(so it means that legends need to be darker than the base material, unless it's reverse dyesub which is much rarer), in cold pbt warps. Also they sound different.

I recently swapped from the K95 Platinum to the SteelSeries Apex Pro, and man I'm loving this keyboard. Full size layout but feels smaller because it's not as tall without that RGB strip at the top, and not as wide without the G-keys. I still use a k60 I bought around 8 years ago, still holds up after years of work and around 4500 hours of counter-strike over that time period. Its got everything I need, cherry mx red mechanical switches, media keys and a wrist wrest.

Dont know how you could use this thing daily for such a long time after using/testing some higher end custom boards. Stock stabs and unlubed switches are enough reasons for me to never go back to a prebuild keyboard. It just makes a huge difference. Nice to hear that you finally wanna make the transition to daily driving a custom board.

Corsair NEED to make more TKL keyboards with a standard bottom row, PBT keycaps and better stabilizers. Imagine a TKL with volume control, USB pass through, dedicated media keys and a soft wrist rest. The amount they charge is ridiculous for a heap of junk currently. Come on Corsair make this happen!!!

I appreciate this video. I agree with all the pros/cons. It's not popular to like mainstream keyboards these days. I used to own one and it has a lot to offer. I've since moved on but plenty of people would really enjoy this keeb. I got a dedicated numpad and volume knobs I can put out of the way. I prefer TKL and 65% now.

there's some really nice macro and numpads out there! some are via compatible and not too bad to program either. I'd recommend looking into those, because it seems like those will probably be the biggest lost features from your corsair setup.

Frank, I completely respect your opinion. However this is my experience with the K95P. This keyboard was my first mechanical keyboard. It cost me $300 AUD, I had to RMA it twice and replace the keycaps within the first year of owning it. I didn't try any other keyboards for a couple of years because the internet back then told me Corsair were the "best". A couple years later I had finally moved on to properly good mechanical keyboards and sold my old K95P, still made good money selling it despite it's age, because I guess it's still hyped up today. The buyer asked me when he came to pick it up "Just curious, but why are you selling it? Isn't this the best keyboard money can buy?" I wanted so badly to tell him about the RMAs, that the materials and overall build felt cheap despite its price tag, that the stabilisers rattled loudly, the keycaps were paper-thin ABS and the brushed metal was an absolute dirt magnet. But I wanted to sell it, so I simply told him "I want more desk space so I bought something smaller". As that keyboard left my house only one thought passed through my head: "Good riddance, and never again". Ladies and gentlemen, my advice to you as ex-gaming keyboard owner is unless you really need the gaming features or software in your next mechanical keyboard, please do yourself a favor and at least buy a Ducky board or something of similar quality. You'll spend the same amount or less than a K95P and you'll be much happier with it in the long run.

is that the one that sounds like a warzone if you type fast? I have a razer with blue switched. IIRC It's one of the blackwidows. If you ever want a hand work out and the loudest fucking typing ever it has to be up their.

You can remove the cable, it's secured to the main PCB with a 5 pin JST connector with a pin pitch of 2.0mm. You just splice together a JST to female micro-usb and then figure out a solution for filling in the gap that removing the thick cable leaves.
