I think the scene was absolute perfection in showcasing how flawed the Senate was. You have for the "brief" moment hope and then Sheev rises and just twists it all into a victory. I'm really curious where this goes and if we'll see more Sheev later on this season (maybe him and Tarkin have a convo on the Storm Troopers or whatever Clone Trooper Rampart used to do his dirty work in episode 7). Ian McDiarmid did reprise his role for the episode and kills it. I love that he's played this character for so long and still just OOZES so much vocally.

I love that he basically can't lose in this scenario. He wants stormtroopers. He orders Rampart to destroy the cloning facilities. This puts the senate in a bit of crisis as they try to figure out what to do and if they should go with this bill, which they likely will because they got no other option. Palpatine doesn't need to do anything really, he's in the background with the excuse that the senate can handle this. Only when evidence is brought in that Rampart destroyed Kamino's cloning facility dose he appear to twist the truth to his advantage. He is still going to get his stormtroopers. Always has been.

the remix they did to his theme actually made it sound like he has that aura just by seeing him lose your spirit to fight back and instead replaced with drowning dread and fear. The moment he appeared a room full of arguing senators immediately shut up and awaited for him to speak. I also love the fact THIS is where we saw the birth of the creation of the Stormtrooper corp. Not the program since it was ongoing aka Project War-Mantle. "Heralded by the Imperial Stormtrooper" Palpatine honestly has to be the worlds GREATEST villain.

Clearly inspired by real history. To use the obvious example, Hitler. He became chancellor of Germany in January 1933. At the time, he only had two Nazi members of his cabinet. After the Reichstag fire in February, he did not let a good crisis go to waste and new laws curtailing personal liberties (in the name of security) were passed. In the March elections, the Nazis were still a minority government, and had to use intimidation to get the Reichstag to pass the Enabling Act, which formed the basis of the future absolute dictatorship, but even then they still proceeded under the cover of legality and not simply "Because I said so".

I felt chills when I realized how effortlessly he put everyone's efforts to waste. The right words and timing, and he not only manages to get what he wants, but he gets the perfect excuse to cut out a loose end and discredit him at the same time, making it so that even if he spills the truth no one will believe him. In previous videos covering this topic, it was know that Tipoca City was destroyed, and debate on whether all cities were destroyed. Now we know EVERY SINGLE CITY is gone, and most Kaminoans were apparently still inside them, so their species is pretty much extinct now. It also feels more than ever that they don't want there to be any hope whatsoever of old Legends lore to ever be used. I was so looking forward to the Clone Rebellion on Kamino, at least having a chunk of it occurring there, but that's no longer possible. And it is such an extreme waste of resources to just wipe everything out. The cloning program would've been better if they kept it, but scaled it down more and more over time, and that is what really sets off the Clone Rebellion on Kamino and causes other clones across the galaxy to just vanish or rebel, to start questioning everything. THEN Kamino's cities are bombed - but not outright destroyed, but damaged, to keep the Kaminoans in submission, and the various facilities across the planet is used for other experiments and a very downsized cloning program, while the 501st keeps a mix of human-born troops and clones from Kamino, to honour the original Legends Lore of Vader's Fist being entirely made of Fett clones. Huuurgh.... the entire series is awesome, but I still hate how they've pretty much BANNED legends lore from being properly used. It's such a waste. Still leaves me conflicted, as the series IS still done very well.

Palpatine is a master at recognizing opportunities. He has his grand plan but the details are variables that he can change when needed. Like with his appentice. He had Darth Maul by his side and would probably be fine with him, but once he met Anakin he saw a chance to form a replacement from the ground up. Dooku came at the perfect time to be his marionet while Anakin grew stronger.

I commend the Imperial Senate and Galactic Empire for arresting the rogue Rampart. Though would prefer if the original Expanded Universe lore was maintained with continued orders of clones (clone stormtroopers) ordered in conjunction with recruitment.

Not possible when Rampart destroyed the cloning facilities as ordered by Palpatine.

@@RustCohle072 Completely possible when Cloning facilities can be rebuilt anywhere on Kamino again, or anywhere in the galaxy with direct Imperial oversight. (Which is what happened in the Expanded Universe novels and video games). The Empire has the resources - money and otherwise - to do so. And surviving Kaminoan scientists. Finally - we are never explicitly shown that the Emperor ordered Rampart's lunatic plan. In the novels, the Emperor in fact orders MORE clone troopers immediately after ROTS to increase the size of the Grand Army ALONGSIDE galactic wide recruitment.

Imagine Palpatine and Tywin Lannister joining forces. Man we would all be screwed. Both are great tacticians when it comes to taking control without looking like the bad guys.

What a great man! Delivering on his promises of a Secure and Prosperous Galaxy! That’s my Emperor! Quick and concise decisions, had this been the Republic this bill would have been debated for years, now it’s done just like that! What do we even need the senate for?

It just shows why Sidious was the greatest Sith to exist. They thought they were fighting him, but they played directly into his hands. The only time Palpatine wasn’t 20 steps ahead, was when his mind was being degraded, by decades of darkside influence.
