When I listen to the Rajhana album I get confused on what to appreciate ? Dhanush's innocent but honest eyes? Even Sonam put forth a beautiful performance. Or the very beautiful lyrics that were penned by Irshad? Or the literal gift to humanity that is AR Rahman's music? Ranjhana is a poetry. As a movie it could work to a few and not to a few but as a poetry that breathes through its songs and thoughts, Ranjhana is utterly poetic. Every line is poetry.

The bubbling sounds, the flute and Kishore Kumar's brooding voice.. Anand Bakshi's lines "Patjhad jo baag ujaade.. Toh baag bahaar khilaaye. Jo baag bahaar mein ujde, usse kaun khilaaye?" and all the other metaphors.. speak of betrayal, as Rajesh Khanna's Anand (a callback to his own previous legendary film), who has anything but happiness (anand) in his life, seeks comfort in a fallen woman, but someone who loved him.
