I had so much fun watching this movie in 4DX on a Sunday afternoon. Yes, Glenn is a movie star. I like his screen presence. Maverick was definitely his breakout role. So I wanted to see more of him. I love the original Twister, 🌪🐄 but I love this more. I like the chemistry between Glenn and Daisy's characters. This film showed the human side of when a natural disaster happens, for example donating, and showing compassion and having empathy/sympathy 🌪🌪🌪🌪 "You don't face your fears, you ride them." "If you feel it, chase it." A summer blockbuster for sure 🩶

I appreciate that the director said he didn't want the film to be anything political at all, but the thing is, in the 2020s, *just* making a film _celebrating Americana_ IS a political statement of a sort. Just making a film about a normal heterosexual relationship where s3x isn't shown on screen IS a political move, sadly. Just making a film featuring a straight white male character who is *_unapologetically masculine and assertive_* is a political statement. THAT'S why I loved it -- even more than the riveting tension. Just like TG Maverick, it _celebrates_ the strong masculine hero archetype, instead of doing what's "in vogue" right now and sh!tting on it. I'm a 24-year-old woman, so I'm not the target demographic for disaster/monster movies. But I LOVED this movie, because I *_freaking miss_* films where the male main character isn't shat on the whole time, made to look weak, or subjected to a beat-down from a Mary Sue Not-Like-Other-Girls Feminist GirlBoss! And furthermore, I freaking miss films with female characters who are smart and capable without being "underdog" Mary Sue feminists! I loved the main plot of this movie too, but I was SOLD by the wholesome, natural, flirty banter between a masculine man and a smart but feminine woman who wasn't insufferable. No disgust from the woman at the man's _aUDAcitY_ to flirt with her, no speech from her about how men ruin everything or treat women like objects. In fact, she _literally tells him to chase her at the end!_ When was the last time anyone in Hollywood did that?? I just could not get over how much I missed that flirty dynamic between a normal straight man and a normal straight woman, that WASN'T about the man cow-towing to the woman's feminist awesomeness, but instead holding his own and being a man, and even _protecting her_ (the rodeo scene)!! I think _that's_ why audiences of both genders are eating up this movie.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I went to the theatre with a group of 8 adults that loved the first Twister movie. 7 out of 8 really enjoyed the movie and especially seeing it on the big screen. I only go to the theatre for disaster style movies. I really liked this movie enough to go see it again. I liked the way they showed tribute to the first Twister movie by having several simular scenes and simular character personalities. Its made the movie more fun. 4 out of 5 stars.

I watched the original recently for the technical first time because I also once saw a little bit of it on tv when I was young. It’s a decent film for sure I agree. The original is definitely one of the better disaster movies but the thing that will blow my mind the most is that if Twisters makes just a little bit over $500M worldwide then this franchise officially becomes a $1B IP. That’s insane…😅

It's odd how these days the film industry is struggling. Yet so many movies make a billion dollars! Also, the movies they make these days aren't nearly as good as they used to be. 80s and 90s films were iconic! Now they're just projects to check off agendas or a quick tax write-off to make million dollar pay checks for the executives!

Just felt thrown together and not very lived in.

Great review! The original is my all-time favorite movie. This one was fun, and I plan to see it again, but the magic of the original wasn’t there for me. I appreciate the filmmaker’s restraint when it comes to nostalgia baiting. One of the things I loved about the original was that each of the tornadoes was its own character with different sound effects and movements (Jan de Bont said this was intentional). I didn’t like that this movie didn’t do that and instead opted to just overlay music with almost all tornado scenes. Loved the rodeo twister though! I think that’s because it’s the one scene in this movie that captured what made the original so great. The original was a tense thrill ride and this one was more of a drama with a tornado scene here and there.

Most tornado films have had a bad reputation.Think about Sharknado or all these cheap Asylum films.Twisters doesn't reinvent the wheel or make new special effects that are much better than in 1996.There is something unsatifying about it.Considering the 200 million budget i was expecting alot more.Some scenes are emotional though but my first thoughts is that the film was a disappointment.

Well said, leblanc. It was boring to me. Bad character development, too much Daisy, not enough Glenn and others. I also didn't like they threw Daisy in Helen's '90s outfit in one scene, white tank top/tan cargos. That's trying too hard, not being creative.
@GCBN84 ай бұрын
@@candycane-w7mI disagree the character development was bad or at least it wasn't bad for every character. Daisy obviously finished what she started in the beginning by releasing the chemical and stopping the tornado. I wished but I wished the guys would've ran out there and then they run back or something while out running the tornado, that would've felt more adventurous.
