Well us old Brits has known Ukraine was a separate country since that Ukrainian linesman gave Roger Hunts goal in the 1966 world cup! Seriously Ukrainians must understand that there is a trade off in that you sign away part of your sovereignity to join the EU. I do hope therefore that your government gives your people a referendum. As for Russia I think they will have learned their lesson by the end of the war. I also think that many young Western Russians have a different attitude than their cold war seniors. Ukraine will get international aid whatever happens. Ukraine has much to give and can stand by itself if that's what it's people wish.

Article 42(7) of the Treaty on the European Union *If a Member State is the victim of armed aggression on its territory, the other Member States shall have towards it an obligation of aid and assistance by all the means in their power, in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. This shall not prejudice the specific character of the security and defence policy of certain Member States.* *Commitments and cooperation in this area shall be consistent with commitments under the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, which, for those States which are members of it, remains the foundation of their collective defence and the forum for its implementation.* That's why Russia doesn't want Ukraine to join EU. Ukraine deserves the best status in Europe, only the best, Ukraine has the most fertile land, has gas reserves, has the largest Nuclear Power Plant in Europe, has the largest, bravest and experienced Army in Europe, is the largest country in Europe, Ukraine has important factories of weapons.. if EU doesn't accept Ukraine it would be the EU who loses more in the long term.

My own views from a independent perspective from a Australian is what is to be gained by joining EU, NATO is a completely different matter. Trade within EU has always been at the cost of others. We in Australia can produce a better product on the other side of the world and sell it cheaper but the EU generally excludes us. So you the European taxpayer are being taxed for supporting of business in the union. Aussie Jeff Moore

Olga, I studied modern history and Russian language. I have travelled extensively in Russia. During the UK Brexit referendum I noted much Russian and Iranian interference. Large sums of Russian money was fed into the media and paid to Brexit supporters. Putin got his way with Brexit and he thought it would weaken the EU; that is one reason why Putin attacked Ukraine after Brexit. However, it strengthened the EU rather than weakening it. Ukraine will join the EU but there will be many misguided people opposing membership not least an army of paid Russian trolls on the Internet. Brexit has ruined the the UK and taken away freedoms, one day the UK will re-join the EU.

The same Russian interference has become more fully appreciated in the USA, and has been shown to have contributed to the election of DJT and the ever-increasing political divide in America. Their misinformation campaign is very extensive and has very serious negative consequences within democracies throughout the world. Once Ukraine eliminates the Putin threat, this destructive information campaign should subside.

@@Olga_Reznikova - Olga - that's not because of the choice the British people made - that is the choice the EU have made to punish the British people for choosing freedom from the EU. I think you can understand that after Ukraine wins this war, recovers its territory, and is finally free of Russian domination - Russia will make it as difficult as possible for ordinary Ukranians to travel/study/work/live in Russia in order to punish Ukraine for 'leaving' their empire. Ignore all the propaganda - just use your own common sense. EU membership will mean that you will be part of a Franco-German empire and you will have to follow the EU's rules just to be part of the EU, instead of just following their requirements for the export trade of your goods to the EU. Ukraine will benefit far more economically by adopting the English Common Laws for business and commerce that make the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, some of the most prosperous economies in the world. But there are even better examples: look at Singapore - a very successful rich country surrounded by very poor countries, but they have succeeded because they are a former British colony and kept the English Common Law that allowed business and commerce to flourish. Dubai has adopted the same economic model because Dubai's leaders wanted to understand why Singapore was a city state that was so successful in a region where most countries are very poor, and they realised it was the English Common Law that made it possible, so they brought in English lawyers and judges to change Dubai's businees and commercial laws to create a more successful economic environment. I think the best future for Ukraine is to be free of any foreign empire - either Russian or European, and to adopt the legal framework for business and commerce that makes English Common Law countries the most successful economically in the world. The other concern Ukraine will have is military security. Joining the EU will not give Ukraine military security. The EU does not have a military force, yet, and it's own security is totally dependent on most of its member states being part of the NATO treaty alliance. Ukraine currently does not meet the requirements for NATO membership, because it has outstanding territorial disputes and an ongoing conflict - two things that make Ukraine ineligible. But once this war is over and Ukraine has recovered all of its territory, including Crimea, then I don't see why NATO membership would be a problem. The Ukrainian military is already becoming more oriented to western weapons systems, so integration - another requirement - is becoming less of a problem every day. I can write almost anything I want in KZbin comments, many people write pro-Russian or pro-EU propaganda, so I would encourage you to do your own research, and look at the examples of Singapore and Dubai for yourself. I think Ukraine can have a fantastic future, but there may have to be many reforms made to the way Ukraine does its business and commerce, and that has to start with its laws and regulations to create the right legal framework. I'm very optimistic for Ukraine, and I wish you the best for your future!

There is nothing glorious about the Ukraine Zelensky’s own bodyguard had a Nazi tattoo the other day on camera, the Ukrainians have always been a peasant class people highly dependent for the greatest success in their history on the Russian empire going back to the 1800s and when they were a part of the Soviet Union, Ukraine is nothing without Russia this is why they depend so heavily on western corruption to fuel their so-called 30 year independent state of grifters

Nice summary of Ukrainian history Olga. Ukraine has a huge potential both geographically and with their talented people and that is why the big thief of Moscow wants to steal it. Once peace is established I think there will be a great influx of people and investment and the economy could grow enormously. I think investment from the west was already quite significant before 24 Feb. Provided the government continues to be well led then I don't think there will be any significant loss of skills to other European countries such as happened when some much poorer East Europe countries joined EU. Ukrainians are rightly proud of their country and will go all out to rebuild a much stronger and thoroughly European future.

I remember several months ago, (maybe March) you were saying one good thing about this war was that Ukraine would finally switch the rail system to align with the European standard. You said that Stalin set up a different railroad gauge in Russia and Ukraine so that Germany couldn't use rail for military transport. I thought your optimism was fantastic and your idea or changing the rail gauge to the 1435 mm standard was a great idea to further connect Ukraine with Europe and isolate from Russia.

The best explanation EVER, on this subject. The key thing is that one size does not fit all. For example, just because Great Britain chose to leave the EU does not mean everyone should leave the EU. And just because the EU is good for France or Germany does not mean Great Britain is wrong to leave the EU. In the case of Ukraine, the EU can serve as a lifeline to help you break free of the Soviet orbit. Once you finally break free for good, by joining the EU, who knows, maybe after a decade or two, you may decide that you no longer need to be an EU member to remain independent of the USSR. Yes, I said the USSR in present tense. The truth is, the USSR did not collapse, it just got smaller and changed its name. The Bolsheviks still run Russia, and as long as that’s the case, all of Russia’s neighbors will need join whatever alliance works, for breaking free of that deadly Soviet gravitational pull. It’s like a Death Star, the further away you can get, the better. 👍👍

The EU is not meant to be a tool that you use and throw away when you no longer need it. Great Britain has obviously never really understood the EU. To this day, for example, they use the term common market as a synonym for EU. For France and Germany, the EU is a political entity that is supposed to guarantee peace and is based on common values. Not just a useful economic construct.
@user-qm7nw7vd5s
@user-qm7nw7vd5s 2 жыл бұрын
@@Olga_Reznikova That is actually the point that I am making, you cannot compare the UK and Ukraine, it is not “one size fits all”. The EU needs the UK, whereas the UK never needed the EU. In their case, it was always a mistake to join, a mismatch. For some countries the EU is a step up, for others it holds them back. At this stage in the development of Ukraine, the EU is definitely a step up. And I don’t mean that simply in terms of the economy. It’s about securing the identity of Ukraine as a European country, and finally shattering the false narrative that you are merely a satellite in the orbit of a Death Star, namely a truncated USSR.

In addition to what you said, Olga, about why Ukraine wants to join the EU, I think I can say that most of us in the EU also would like for Ukraine to join. Something that the Russians will never ever understand is that most Europeans actually like Ukrainians because in Russia, it would seem, that is just not something people do. In Europe, however, Ukrainians are our co-workers (Both my mother and father know some Ukrainians through their work), friends and sometimes even family, and given that connection, of course, we would want Ukrainians to not just "live next to us", but to "live with us" in the European Union. Exactly like Olga explained here, Russia abused Poland that way, too. We fought multiple wars with Rusia. Many, many years ago Poland like Ukraine joined Lithuanian Kingdom by marrying our 13-year-old queen to their 30-year-old King, for protection from Rusia. United we stood better chance against Rusia. For hundreds of years Rusia would exploit our countries. Even changed railroad tracks, so it would be more difficult to trade with western Europe. There was not one treaty that Rusia would not break. In Yalta agreement they decided that Russia will be the Big Brother for Poland, Belarus, Lithuania, Latifa, Estonia, Ukraine, Czech Republic etc. Trust us we didn't like this agreement it was to our detriment. This whole time we were working to break free from Rusia. We hated this oppressive "friendship" as we can see how Putin is lying about the war in Ukraine. God please help Ukraine break free and prosper. Ukrainians are very resourceful and talented people. Chwala Ukraine.

The main reason why Ukraine wants to join is because it is an undeveloped country and it would get massive EU subsidies just like Poland which takes 60% of the EU budget. NOTHING to do with culture of resources or language. For sure EU would never go hungry because of the grain production. Industrially it would take 30 years to bring it up to the standard of just Poland who still live out of subsidies ... very slow process and huge portion of the subsidies will get stolen by the Ex Commi politicions through ponzy schemes as in the Ex Soviet East European countries. But after the old political class die off there is a hope to progress .Meanwhile it will be a Cheep labour for the advance EU countries. But you will have a EU beurocracy and regulations to deal with and tow the line to get the subsidies. But it is Million times better then existance under Russia!

We totally understand your points Olga, so natural... nevertheless, you should not consider EU only in opposition to the Russian blackmail, you know?? You don't have to suffer any kind of abuse or blackmail, by anyone, including Russia. No matter you are part of the EU or not... I don't care either what happened 2 centuries ago (of course I care, but I think you will understand my point), the real important thing is you want to be Ukrainians today, in 2022, and even there are people who don't want to be Ukrainians anymore... and a democratic solution for everybody must be found and not by means of arms, and only between Ukrainians... Russian invaders have nothing to say in another sovereign, different country called Ukraine, is simple, is legal, is fair... is true... Once clarified this... you have to understand something, EU is not a hughe market... of course it is 🤣🤣🤣, but not only... EU is a political project... MAINLY, is a project for a bigger, single, unified European country... and that have a lot of implications... you must make sure you understand what the EU really is... you have to get to know who your partners and brothers are... since the EU is an attempt to create the United States of Europe... that means a lot of sacrifices in order to get a bigger target. That means things like humbly accepting your country will not ever decide alone all your important decissions anymore, even if that means increasing unemployment rates in your particular country for the common well being of Europe 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️. You can ask the Greeks for instance during the last economical crisis... they suffered a lot to respect all the internal rules of the EU for errors they commited in the past... is a great privelege being part of the EU, but is a great responsibility too... Many attempts to get an European army have been done... and not successfully... by now (in other areas the political merge is absolute). But it is a matter of time we reach that union too... That will mean, you been Ukrainians, maybe someday, have to go to fight for Greece, for France, for Belgium... 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️. We are all one... we are all European citizens... accepting Ukraine in the EU can mean fighting for Ukraine someday too.... is a greeeat responsibility for us too... one of the conditions to join EU... is not having any territorial dispute open with any other countries... it basically means... solve your problems first, and once free from burdens... ask to join us (it was one of our first duties for absolutely all of us)... you can realize we have done a very big effort and reconaissance to Ukraine by admitting you as a candidate... since everybody is conscious of your sufferings, your efforts, your commitment to our same values, in the end... because you morally more than deserve that oportunity thanks to your dignity in such a situation like this... it has been your dignity, your values and your behaviour what have granted you that hughe exception made with Ukraine. Hat off brothers 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. That means also things like having a common currency, the Euro, 💶, you know?? Your central bank is not going to take your decissions alone anymore... and can be hard sometimes... 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️. Same as Lviv Oblast, must rely on Kyiv Oblast or in Chernihiv Oblast, or Donetsk Oblast... Ukraine will rely on the Netherlands or Austria... Not all the countries have joined the euro... yeeet, but it is a matter of time... or this Union does not make any sense... ☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻. There are countries from the Eastern part of Europe that joined the European Union, and once inside, it seems they don't like it... 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️. It is something we do not understand very well... once you have joined... you must mantain your commitment... to join the EU, get richer, developed... but complaining about the other face of the coin (your communitary obligations) constantly... is simply not fair for the rest committed and complying with the obligations... There are countries being sanctioned by the European Comission recently... what is the point to have to reach such a situation between brother countries?!? 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️ If you realize, the European citizens have made a hughe effort to get to know your history, geography, politics much much better. Everybody had a general knowledge about Ukraine, and other countries of Europe not being candidates to EU or part of it, but not this deep, honestly... Ukrainians will have to do the same with the rest of the EU soon (first... lets solve this Putin's mess, that is not something easy, as you know much better than us... and you will have to find also a fair democratic solution to all those Ukrainians not feeling Ukrainians, or even feeling Russians. Fair is fair, and democracy is for ALL. That is the difference between us... and the Punitist... no matter how much they rant on us... we are fair and democratic because it is important to be like that for ourselves... no matter what the rest they do...). Once all that is done... you have to have a European general culture... believe or not, we know each other very very well, since most of our history as Europeans, is criss-crossed, so I invite you all to deepen as we have done with Ukraine, you are criss-crossed too, even if you didn't know 😅😅😅 (we have 27 countries, that is a lot... we know it 😅😅😅 step by step 😅😅😅). Second thing, very important... to understand the European Treaties, from Paris 1952, Rome 1957 (very, very important), Niza, Maastritch 1992 (very very important too, since the EU as you know it is born there) or Lisboa 2009 (crucial too). Those are gonna be your rules, hahahaha, sooo, you have to join the EU because you have really understood all the benefits... and all the sacrifices 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️, and your commitment to that political project is absolute, we are supposed to merge into a great Democratic European Federation... to me... personally... is absolutely wellworth... but it is you who have to understand the real implications, since I have lived always in this system and I know I love it 😍😍😍, we have made so many sacrifices... we are not going to leave it now 😅😅😅. You must choose your own way, but to do that, your people have to understand everything really well, the Russian blackmail cannot be a reason... I am not going to marry my boyfriend because he is going to protect me against any bully... I marry him because a freely choose him and I am happy with him, you know?? 😅😅😅. Being a candidate is being "boyfriends", you are part of the family, but you have a time to get used to and to know each other better... that's why candidacy last several years for absolutely aaaall the countries... all of us have lived that process, unless the 6 originals (Italy, Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands, Luxemburg and France), since they started step by step too increasing in a natural way the compromise from 1952 until today (we are 27 now, and when the EU is officially stablished by 1992 we were 12 only, you can count the stars in the blue flag... is a remnant... nobody expected these hughe success by that time... and even one of those 12... is not anymore 🤣🤣🤣. UK... btw... Come back soon ☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻🤣🤣🤣, now that you have "gotten your "Bor-Exit" done" 🤣🤣🤣. (Bye bye Boris 🖐🏻🖐🏻🖐🏻🤣🤣🤣). Well, I hope this help you criss-crossing to us much better 😅😅😅. The EU has problems although the good news is that they are starting to wake up to these. France wants to create a kind of 2nd tier which would allow the UK to join and this would probably be what Ukraine ends up joining. The biggest issue the EU has is it's one size fits all approach. My guess is that eventually, it will be doing less of the integration into a superstrate thing and will become more of a common market like how it was sold to people. It makes sense for Ukraine to join as joining the EU is in effect, joining NATO via the backdoor

An unwelcome reality check, Olga. Joining the EU is likely to be difficult for Ukraine for several reasons. While the current war with Russia is going on the EU leadership is happy to make statements like "We stand with Ukraine", but once the war is over will this political goodwill be enough to overcome the considerable barriers? Personally I doubt it, as the EU is not flexible when it comes to bending its own rules or going against strong established political interests within the union, such as the farm lobby. Currently Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova all have candidate status, so the EU is at least talking to them about eventual membership. But this means little - Turkey has been in talks since 1987 and by now most people have given up hope it will ever join! The problems for Turkey and Ukraine are in fact similar - both are huge countries with very different traditions to the core EU members, so a lot has to change to harmonise how their legal and administrative systems work before they can join. And, even more of an obstacle, both are potentially agricultural powerhouses - and so a threat to already established economic interests in the EU who (the Russian war aside) probably won't want such powerful competitors to join. Joining the EU involves a long process where the applicant member country has to harmonise its laws and financial and economic practices with EU norms. These norms are summarised under the 35 chapters of the "acquis", agreed by the existing members, which can be found on the EU website. Any one of them can prove a stumbling block if the political will isn't there on both sides. Ukraine has always been agriculturally rich, with famously good soil and a climate much like Kansas. But this is a mixed blessing when it comes to getting accepted for EU membership. Ukraine is already a major food exporter, and has great potential for further agricultural productivity given better access to capital, improved transport links, better governance - and a sustained period of peace. But this would make it a strong rival to the politically powerful farmers of France, Spain, Italy and Germany - not to mention the Netherlands who currently seem to be in revolt. Wheat, maize, sugar beet, sunflower oil and even wine could emerge from Ukraine in huge quantities. So expect all sorts of obstacles and delays to crop up on the EU side in negotiations before Ukraine gets better access to EU markets. Maybe today's geopolitical and security concerns will win out, and Ukraine will be welcomed quickly into the EU block. But will that really happen? Once the threat from the Russian armies has receded will Brussels and Paris and Berlin remember all those words about standing with the Ukrainians? It's not how EU farmers and agribusinesses and the politicians beholden to them typically think. Letting in a business rival of such strength is not very likely. EU is a protectionist economic project at root, and on Ukraine will probably go back to behaving like one.

You bring up a lot of great points why it is important for Ukraine to distance themselves from Russia. Self identity and self determination is important for any nation, this is something Russia does not understand. I remember hearing from another Ukrainian KZbinr that before the war there were over 600 Russian schools in Ukraine, by comparison there were '0' Ukrainian schools in Russia. So it's pretty obvious that Russia was forcing their culture and language over the Ukrainian people, and who better to start this indoctrination then on the children of Ukraine.

You should definitely go for it! Also don't give up on joining NATO too. Putin and his circle would never dare touch Ukraine again if you joined NATO, as most of the world would retaliate along with you with soldiers unlike now when individual countries are just sending weapons on their own. This would address the manpower issue and also you would have access to the most state of the art defense equipment, pilots, navy, training; everything your army is short on right now. Don't let any naysayers stop Ukraine from achieving these goals. There are going to be some problems in any group of people even when united for some official purpose, but that doesn't outweigh the benefit that comes from joining these alliances. You are stronger when you join together with people who have similar goals. Russia' s insistence on living in the past and its refusal to move into the 21st century is what will destroy them ultimately. It is a really good sign that Ukraine does not want to live that way and chose another path.

Thank you for your time and insights, Ms. Reznikova. I agree Ukraine will need strong international links to the rest of Europe to secure its borders and sovereignty. The idea that "neutrality" will protect the country from continued overt destabilization efforts from Moscow is inherently flawed. Moscow will always see Ukraine as a province of Russia, believing that they "own" it. The only thing that will stop future aggression is membership in an alliance too strong for Russia to attack, as it has done for the Baltic states and Poland. Otherwise, this whole thing will happen over and over. NATO and EU Memberships are the most robust security and economic measures Ukraine can take to be safe, and ensure a prosperous future. I think you're only partly right in that NATO membership would guarantee Ukraine's security under Article 5 (an attack on one NATO member is an attack on all), but membership of the EU would give no such guarantee. In fact, it was the EU's overtures to Ukraine that first triggered the aggressive response from Russia in 2014, and Putin also took exception to the moves the EU were making in 2013 to Armenia, Georgia and Moldova. A point I would also make is that both Finland and Sweden have been EU members since 1995, but did not feel the need to join NATO until this year... because of Putin's invasion of Ukraine. Membership of the EU guarantees no security from Russian aggression at all. I would recommend that Ukraine works toward NATO membership, which is a non-political military alliance, once it has won the war and recovered its territory (which would both be requirements for membership).
@andyreznick
@andyreznick 2 жыл бұрын
@@davemac1197 Hi, Dave. You are correct. EU membership in and of itself confers no military security guarantees through treaty obligation. However, it is an open and untested question about how the EU might respond if a non-NATO EU member is attacked. Let's imagine a world where Austria is switched in place with Ukraine. Russia does the same thing. It uses EU encroachment, Nazism and "protection" of an ethnic Russian minority to fabricate a casus belli. While I doubt, in this situation, NATO as an entire alliance would respond, I can easily imagine individual members of the EU would do so. The heart of Europe would be seen to be under an attack of conquest from Madrid to Warsaw. At a bare minimum, I believe the EU would be FAR more generous with military support in such a case than they have been with non-member Ukraine. As unfair as it is, many in Europe and North America still do not see Ukraine this way. Thank God Ukraine has Zelensky at this moment. More than anyone else, he is changing that view - moving that perception toward a Euro-centric free country like Poland and away from a Russo-centric puppet like Belarus. Next, EU membership only "triggered" Putin in so far as it was chipping away at his dominance, control and looting of neighbor states. There was, and is, no threat to Russia from the EU. In fact, the opposite. It has helped stabilize Russia too. It's adherence to international norms and laws is the very reason so many Russians have chosen to store and shield their wealth in the EU and why they send their own children there. Oligarchs and Russian politicians have had to modify their worst predatory behaviours in order to continue to do business. In short, they have been forced to play by SOME rules. Backlash is severe when people are poisoned or fall out of windows in Europe. The encroachment proposition works as tractable, manipulative grievance politics and xenophobia to motivate domestic support in service to a goal of regional hegemony. Unreasoned fear and hate are an easy sell from time out of mind. "They''re out to get us" makes us afraid and angry. "They're persecuting our people" makes us feel righteous and determined to save them. This is just to name two time-tested tactics. Your point about Finland and Sweden is well made, but, I feel, not altogether equivalent. First, both have security arrangements in place specifically to counter Russian aggression, (for example with the UK, US, Canada and the Baltic states) allies who would respond to an attack. Second, both have strong, capable conventional military forces. Third, we are right back to an untested EU response Russia cannot easily factor in. Fourth, the "Slavic Savior" card just wouldn't play. However, you make a good point that, even with all of this being true, they have now decided NATO is in their interest. In all, I feel you are totally correct. NATO membership is the most critical component for Ukraine's security, but I would not count the EU out in terms of political or even military commitment. Thanks for your thoughtful comment.

Just a word of caution about the idea of Ukraine joining the EU. While I understand the need for Ukraine to link to the West rather than Russia and develop favourable trading terms with the EU, there needs to be a reality check in the timescale of the ambition. Clearly it will offer a good template for developing robust, less corrupt institutions with a framework for developing a more independent legal framework and robust constitution, there are economic dimensions to consider. Consider this, the EU has problems - Italy and Greece specifically struggle to adapt their economies to the EU metrics which have largely developed to suit Northern European economies (primarily German and to some extent France). My best advise is to read about Greek opinions on these matters..😉
@davemac1197
@davemac1197 2 жыл бұрын
I think that's a very common sense comment. I touched on some of the same issues in response to another comment earlier. The legal framework is indeed the key thing, and I made reference to English Common Law being the best model for success used throughout the world in the British sphere of influence - the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and also other former colonies like Singapore. Perhaps a better example for a country that is not a former British colony, is Dubai, which sought to learn from Singapore's success and correctly identified English Common Law in business and commerce as the key to that success, and reformed their own laws in those areas of law by importing British lawyers and judges to create a new framework legal system to regulate the Dubai economy. The results speaks for themselves. This is something Ukraine would not be able to do if it joined the EU, as Ukraine would have to integrate its legal system into the EU constitution - deceptively called the Lisbon 'treaty', but it is a constitution for an evolving federal superstate. I would advise Ukraine to put its experience of being part of the Soviet Union behind it, and avoid membership of a European socialist union in the future. It's not that good for global trade or business, but above all, the EU is a political project that can be traced back to Bismarck and the federal unification of Germany in 1871, and the many attempts to unify Europe through military and economic means since then.

It would be even better if NATO would open its doors for Ukraine. At this point there is no worry about offending Russia with NATO membership. For many reasons the idea of an independent, successful Ukraine has infuriated Putin.

I hope Ukraine gets into the EU. I love my country UK but the dumbest decision we ever made was to leave the EU I will 100% vote to rejoin in about 10 years time when the sensible younger population are in charge who realise isolation is not a good policy. Unfortunately at the vote the old men who want isolation had the sway.

This is nonsense. The desire was not for "isolation", the desire was to not be over-controlled by Brussels. That said, if the only realistic choice is the EU or Russia, I'd choose the EU too.

Olga, I do have to say to you, politics is always politics no matter what country. Does not make it ok to allow for any country to attack a country like Ukraine. As far as I see in my own city where many Ukrainians call home for many years now, they are very kind people and i hope NATO pushes to get Ukraine into a place they deserve and have deserved for a long time. No one will ever in their life time ever meet such kind sincere loving people as Ukrainians really are. You yourself are a kind sincere loving person to all the world around you all the time. People need to open their eyes a lot more then they do all around the world and pay attention closely. Yes Ukrainian people are one of a kind playing big important part of all our lives everyday everywhere in the world as you do also. AS an American i feel it would be a very grave mistake for NATO to not allow Ukraine to be a part of this world also, politics does not ever replace the kindness and love you and your country have always shown to others. your videos show this very fact with you, you do not know everyone watching, and yes you could stop showing the videos but you take the time to do the videos for all of us to see. Thank you again foe all you do for all of us all the time. hope you know it means a lot for us to be able to have a chance to see your videos and i personally look forward to more. Love and care From USA to you and your family always, from all of us here

I too see Ukraine as an independent, sovereign Country. It should be your decision to see to the needs and desires of your Country. Russia is still suffering from the falling of the Soviet Union woes! Putin is Not the leader to pull Russians together. Putin will not last forever! Best wishes! 👏🙏🏻😘

Tsarist Russia & the Soviet Union tried to suppress language & Culture in Poland, and failed! In addition, the new Imperialist Russia also tried to do the same in neighboring Ukraine, and again failed. Russia in its several manifestations has tried and failed to be overlords to the neighboring Slavic people; they do NOT get it!

@@Olga_Reznikova True. In the interwar years, the histories diverged. Poland established the 2nd Republic while Ukraine was further subjugated. Both suffered greatly in WWII from both the Soviet Red Army and the Nazi Wehrmacht. Post-WWII, both were under the Red yoke until the collapse of the CCCP. That brings us to the more recent post-Soviet histories.

Olga is actually a Ukraine propagandist. She didn't succeed in Denmark as the benefits offered were not as good as the UK so headed to the UK.

😂 Propagandists don't need benefits, they are paid by government 😂😂😂 Why I need to leave on benefits and go to courses of Danish and so... if I know English and I have work in UK?🤷🏼‍♀️ Very weird logic, that someone who used to have good level of life would be attracted to live without income in super low level of society. I guess Danish social payments is something like 500$. Even in Ukraine you will not really can live normal life with 500$, not sure what you can do in Denmark 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hi Olga, hope you still read this. Shout out if you need more arguments FOR the EU! You already mentioned some regarding small businesses and individual entrepreneurs. There is so much more! The EU for sure is by far not just the better of bad choices! It is a choice however. And that's why so many think they could make cheap points against the EU and why the EU constantly needs to get defended. The EU has it's flaws - but every government does have. And in case of the EU it helped to correct flaws of member governments. Greece came out of a different time quite fine with the help of the EU and by adapting corrections demanded by the EU. Your neighbors Poland and Hungary would already not be anymore ones you like without the EU putting pressure on them to stay within the framework of agreed common EU principles. The EU failed as well, with stopping NorthStream 2. It tried and today we know that the aim was right and should have succeeded. Finally for this time - that bureaucracy thing. That's so easy to blame. But: Germany and Austria are per capita top ranking net payers. The tax money transferred from Germany and Austria to Brussels per capita PER YEAR is less than a lower middle class car costs PER MONTH - without fuel! It's easy to figure out that savings due to the EU not at least due to less bureaucracy in every day's life end business exceed that BY FAR! Ukraine will be a powerhouse within the EU and will be driving EU forward forcefully - with Ukrainian's ambitions, savviness, ingenuity, culture, openness, toughness. It's well possible, that that scares some within the EU, that some comfort could get lost. But it got to scare as well adversaries of the EU as the EU would get such much stronger. No reason for Ukrainians to be humble regarding EU fundings. There are already many quotes proofing that these would never be considered as "funds", but as quick returning investments. Slava Ukraine - Slava EU (from Austria having witnessed the development of Austria since EU-ascendance!)
