I like this video. He is talking at my level and not tech speak. Why do you need to cut out the pauses. He is keeping it real. Mr. White comes off as real and friendly and could talk all day about photography. He reminds me of a great friend of mine. Sir great video. It is all good. Stay with your video format and stay real. Don't change a thing.

Hello Mr. Frank, I pray all is well with you. I just happened upon you video and it still holds up today. I’m just getting going with DSLRs and have a battery grip for my 90D, & 5DMK IV. I’m only a hobbyist just trying to document family events. I was so blessed to capture and document my 80 year old parents life story with my C100 MKII & 90D. I learned things about them and myself that I never knew. And my folks told us stories all while growing up. I just so appreciate context creators like you who stepped out there to teach others. Thank you Mr. Frank.

Frank. I want to thank you. I do not comment on videos often. A few months ago I got my first full frame and I was not sure if I wanted a battery grip. Overall, I am a hobbyist. This is, and has been, my therapy since 1983. You showed me the advantages in terms that I could grasp, especially shooting in portrait mode when I do street. Thank you again. A few minutes after viewing this and before making this comment, I found a cannon authorized reseller and got a used one with a warranty on ebay. So yes, you get a like a subscribe.

This is an amazing Video. I must of seen this 3 or 4 years ago but I'm back again and watched once again. One problem I would say about the battery grip is that it does tend to combine with the camera protective skins unless you do some little cutting of the skin to have the battery grip screw in fully
@VirtualAviationAviator
@VirtualAviationAviator Жыл бұрын
Thanks Cliff. I had no idea that so many people would find the information so helpful when I made it. I guess the issue with the skin reminds us that, at the end of the day, it is an add-on.

Thanks Frank for your advice. Yes, people can get intimidated by big size cameras however after a while they usually open up a little. I find the vertical shooting easier with a grip, not to mention that the camera has an increased stability on the tripod.

Good video, I find battery grips to be a must on all my cameras. I tried the Vello brand when I first tried using the battery grips and it is in every way just as good as the Canon grips. I ended up purchasing for my 5D mkii's and 5dmkiii's . My biggest reason for getting the more expensive grip is the texture of the grip since I do not shoot using a strap, and that I use Kirk L brackets on all of my cameras. It makes for a good setup.
@francis3963
@francis3963 Жыл бұрын
Beside the versatile function of Horizontal/Verticle shooting., it extended the battery power - thus longer shooting more image. For me, the important issue is - it PROTECT THE BASE of the camera. I brought a used Nikon D7100 with the base paint that was badly worn-out. My Nikon D800 which comes with the original battery-grip was like new. That proved that the battery-grip was a MUST for me.

Koto well, I bought the 20 dollar one and I love it! only thing that can be annoying at some times is that it doesn't have no shutter dial to adjust the shutter speed and same goes for the aperature. It does have a half press shutter to focus and full click to shoot the photo though. I really love it cis it's certainly very convienient for the bateries

Hello Frank. I bought a Nikon D7200 to replace my Nikon D90. As an older film photographer, I had a Nikon F3 with the motor drive. I was watching your video on battery grips (pros and cons) and have decided that in all honesty, I would prefer having the grip on the new camera. I know that weight is a con but I have my older Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 to consider when on the D7200. Your video helped along with my past experience to order the battery grip. Thanks for your input.

Big cameras can either impress or intimidate. Depends on the prospective of the client.
@Nightbot0182
@Nightbot0182 7 жыл бұрын
Obviously it would and should impress a client by making them think that they're getting their pictures taken on the world's best camera simply by making the camera look bigger by using a battery grip and a large lens hood. It would also make the photographer look more proffesional which would attract more consumers and make them think that you are the "real deal."

Awesome. Alkaline batteries can get you out of a pinch. Reminds me of a story where I was shooting a wedding and completely left my batteries at home ~30 miles. One thing that does not seem to get mentioned about battery grips is that you get more power to drive those bigger lenses. I find even with an older camera such as the T2i that with the battery grip I can drive even the biggest lens with little problem.

Being an old geezer from the film days, I find the added weight of the battery grip to make the camera with telephoto lenses easier to keep stable. This may not be an issue today with image stabilization technology but I still feel better with a heavier body when using longer lenses. Another plus is that I find some bodies to be a little too compact, and the grip just makes my whole set up smoother to work with. I put grips on my Pentax bodies to make them bigger and easier to hold. I put grips on my Nikons to give them more weight to aid in stability when I'm using 30 year old Nikkor lenses with out IS.
@VirtualAviationAviator
@VirtualAviationAviator 2 жыл бұрын
I think you are right inasmuch as heavy bodies promote stability. I haven't been shooting, for fun, much lately. Everyday I say tomorrow I'm going to grab my camera and go for a hike. I think I'm going to resume putting content on the Photography channel. Thanks for your comments.

Your 60D and 700D (T5i) will require different grips. As far as SD cards for video make sure you use UHS class 10, U3 cards.
