Beautiful car!! I’ve always liked Tesla cars!! They look great, they run well, and they’re comfortable!!

I'd not use any covers and here is the reason: 1. In the UK and in countries where there is a salt on the road, you'll corrode your alloy quicker. 2. In places where they connect to the allow due to vibration it will rub the paint and you'll get paint loss quickly with again quicker corrosion on those spots. 3. increased wheel imbalance and weight So just refurb your alloys if you care about them once in 5-7 years and you're good, although a lot of people swap cars anyway by then.

Even with a tiny Renault Zoe, my wheels clipped the kerb occasionally and got chipped!! So it’s not just what happens to Teslas like yours!!

Fortunately, I don't kerb wheels very often. I could count the number of times on one hand and I've been driving for 38 years!

They've approached me to do a collab video, so I'm considering it. I'm not sure whether I like them though. It's a bold choice.

Do these ones damage the rim of the alloy?. I have got a set of blades and tried different ways of laying the tape but seem to getting grit between and it's damaging the wheel edge. Any suggestions?

I've had mine on for about 10,000 miles now and I drive on rural roads (so lots of dirt, grit etc) and the tape is protecting the rim of the alloy. I would assume your wheel cover isn't pushing tight enough onto the wheel. Are you pushing home the centre into the hub hole in the wheel?

@GoGreenAutos mine are blades.I put the tape all the way round and these raised spots obviously rubbed and wore the tape away whilst holding the grit in. 4 month later the rims looked like this.

So basically the cover doesn’t protect the wheel, and damages it continuously. I took mine off when I picked up my Model Y used with 1300 miles and even originals made damage. I absolutely love the look of the original wheels in silver colour. These black wheels are just boring and also look horrible when dirty. I did a test one day putting the Gemini covers back on. The efficiency gains in real world are almost unnoticeable so I’m never putting them back on. I call them pizza wheels. Just make the car look goofy..

Pure bad design (or customer choices?). Use narrower rims, or wider tires, so the tire sticks out more and protects the wheel or ugly plastic cover.

take a walk around any carpark and count the number of kerbed alloys.

The Model Y is my least favourite Tesla car. I think the Y is too big for British roads. But there again, I’m an Englishman and Elon Musk is an American, hence the size of the car!!
@GoGreenAutosАй бұрын
The Model Y is very spacious, but it's not too large for the UK roads. Its the same size as all other similar European cars.

Elon Musk is in fact a South African - Canadian not an American.
