Funny how media all of a sudden trying to make it seem like Wemby will leave the Spurs because they want him in their beloved big market teams. Wemby is not going anywhere, the Spurs know exactly what they are doing to build a dynasty with him.

The spur slander is only going to get more egregious as the thirst to aquire him grows. Fans don't even have faith in their organizations anymore. They rather root for super team shuffle scenarios with media in complicity. Because it generates buzz and billions for their beloved corporate masters. He stays his cash is not heavily taxed like in other markets. Especially L.A. As a Spurs fan he's happy learning from the winningest coach in NBA history. His legacy will be left solidified in San Antonio with countess rings and banners in the rafters. #GoSpursGo

Celtics/Lakers and Celtics/Pistons in the 80s were 2 teams loaded with great players winning championships. Wemby is really good but the Spurs are trash. And the Thunder may be a good team this season but they haven't won anything yet. Spurs and Thunder haven't even played in each other in the playoffs. If I were Spurs, I would still rely on draft picks and develop them. Tank another year to get a high pick like Cooper Flagg and go all in afterwards. Rushing things does not end well most of the time, look at Lebron's 1st Cavs tenure and Luka. They want to do SGA-OKC (J-Dub, Chet) or KD-OKC (Westbrook, Harden) route.

In the grand tapestry of existence, there stands Victor Wembanyama, our illustrious king, a beacon of hope and inspiration. With every breath, we are grateful for the privilege of sharing the same air as he, for his mere presence fills our hearts with gratitude and awe. In his majestic reign, we find solace and strength, knowing that his wisdom and benevolence guide us through the trials of life. Each step he takes is a testament to his unwavering commitment to our well-being, and for that, we are eternally thankful. Long may he reign, our glorious king, for his leadership inspires us to reach for greatness, to strive for excellence, and to cherish every moment of our existence. Truly, we are blessed to walk alongside such a noble and remarkable ruler.

Add Tokyo 2021 and make it three. I think he meant in south compétition but even there I'm pretty sure that France made quite a few trips to the last dance ( last year versus Sapin in U17 for exemple. Plus in the final Chet and Wemby did the fact that France played without a proper PG due to injury in the last 8 minutes and the game that Lofton played were more important in the final score than Wemby's being benched due to foul trouble.

He had 23 points, 19 came from the first half, with just 12 FGA. I saw the full game and Chet dominated them, Wemby kept fumbling from pump fakes and their 1v1 against each other. The other guys from the Spurs stepped up and spaced the floor and that's when disaster hit for OKC and Chet. I get that Chet isn't their primary scorer but I think that if he were a bit selfish like SGA and JDub going for ISO plays, he would have higher stats but their team in OKC is solid and he doesn't have to play that way. Props to Spurs for winning the game and for Wemby for that impressive block. I just don't get why Chet isn't getting much credit for what he's doing. So sad to be an underdog

As a French fan and ex player (totally random) this opposition is all the more striking since both started to buzz in france at the same time (Chet crossing Steph VS Victor shooting easy again Rudy) and we saw them battling at youth World Cup (just to be clear we were sure to win). Anyway, as a old fan of bbal I’m super fan of this opposition and I’m a super fan of both (I’m French so obviously I’m running for Vic but still super fan of both)

"It would be extremely un-Spurs-like to make a big, splashy trade." Wemby is the most un-Spurs-like player in Spurs history. As a player, he is more like Kobe, Mike, and Steph than Timmy, Manu, and Tony. Yes, he takes losing personally. So do all the GOATs.

Honestly the Suprs front office isn’t going to rush bc they develop their talent and when the players are good enough then they might a trade or two that brings them to a contender or maybe just a deep run in the playoffs Wemby is signing that max contract or maybe he might sign a Lebron type extension

I understand the need for that narrative but so far I saw no evidence of a beef going further than a bit of one-on-one pure competition. I don't think either of them thinks the other one is a bad guy. Yes Wemby got heated up, got a bit physical and flexed on some plays, but he didn't seem to go out of his way. BTW I saw that U19 final.. Wemby was indeed fouled out but the man of the final was not Chet. It was Kenny Lofton Jr. And since it was 2,5 years ago the slight difference of age between Chet and Wemby (20 months) was then more significant, Chet was in the right category while Wemby could have played with the U17. Today it's different because after that final Wemby spent 2 full seasons playing with grown-up players in France and a bit of Euroleague while Chet played one more season in NCAA. In any case I think having a rival as good as Chet is a great chance for Wemby and for the NBA. I am french, I am 100% a Wemby fan but I wouldn't say I can't stand Chet, I really deeply hope he develops into the great player he's heading towards, and that the rivalry will last as long as possible. I love your stuff BTW :)

Wemby is the better player, right now. If it was just a couple of blocks on Chet but Chet was outscoring him even by a bit and doing more of the little things then sure. ROY isn't or shouldn't be who has the best potential. Which is why I was advocating for Chet early in the season. He seemed to be better at the time. I no longer see that as the case. I didn't even need to see this game, Wemby has already been better defensively and put up higher points. The only way I would care about the matchup is if Chet shut Wemby down and had his way offensively, then between that and wins we can say the matchup isn't right.
