Violet Evergarden was the first anime I ever watched and it still holds a special place in my heart. The internal conflict was just so incredibly well done and so was Violet's progression as a character as she learnt to understand emotion

The intentions of Violet Evergarden were definitely to target the emotional wave/flow that humans go through. That can be seen especially with all the different stories/scenarios that Violet Evergarden goes through as the story goes on. It's also crazy to see in perspective how Violet changes from being someone who has no emotions//a-war-figure status, to someone who understands emotions. The word "aishiteru" still rings in my heart to this day. Such a beautifully told, animated, and projected story. (:

Violet Evergarden is by far the best anime i ever watched in my life. The best about this anime is the subtlety and details. Every time i rewatch it, i discovered something new which i missed in my previous viewing. I cried..everytime i watch the show, it so beautiful and touching which i can rewatch it again and again. In one week, i rewatch the anime for 7 times 💞 , this is so beautiful which i can't get enough of it. Thank you so much for making this video ❤ This is anime deserves more attention

Yes it did, it touched my heart and it also saved me. Back in 2016, I got diagnosed with an illness that doesn't have a cure to this day and it made me depressed, as time went by, I felt more lonely and depressed to the point where I couldn't understand my emotions anymore and to the point where I no longer mean what I say, but 2020 came and I accidentally saw Violet Evergarden in Netflix and after watching it, I realized that things will get better and someone is always there for you, like how Claudia Hodgins and Violet's co-workers were always there for her and I should be grateful that I can still say the things I want to my friends and family and that life is short and I should live to the fullest and that I should cherish every moment. 💜

Storytelling is the most beautiful thing. I am glad that it is so beautiful to you as well. It has made me realize what character is and emotion and character development. Violet Evergarden changed my life for she finds what she loves in life just as I do and it is freeing.

Violet Evergarden will forever remain one of my most favorite anime, its writing, art style, music and the sheer emotions expressed are astounding. This by far one of KyoAni's best works out there. I love the raw feeling it leaves in your chest and how almost all episodes made me cry. Funny story I wanted to watch this anime for a long time, but thought it was gory and scary cuz I misread the title as 'Violent' Evergarden, idk man I'm blind XD

Violet Evergarden's ability to portray the complications of human feelings into an animated film is something that will forever be praised by me. Kyoto Animation definitely does a great job with that, and it just always makes me sad to think about the tragedy that happened at that wonderful studio...

Very good video! Definitely a must watch! I'd also go more into depth into the music and artstyle that is used and resembles this absolutely gorgeous Anime. It's very detailed but not to a point where you'd think it's too much. But the music also hits different in very emotional scenes if I remember correctly. And concerning the feels: Violet Evergarden, as you said, brings the enitre pallet of human emotions to oneself. Happyness, Being Welcomed, Having a place to be, Friends but also Sadness, Loneliness, Seeking for fulfillment, Depression and Relieve are just some words that come into my mind when I think of Violet Evergarden. I enjoyed this video, and yeah I guess it was a little fast which isn't necessarily a bad thing since people like shorter videos in general i'd say. But yes in some parts it really is a bit fast. But all in all a great video! Maybe next time get a bit more not only into the feels but also into some more different aspects!

It took me two years to finally watch this show and even now I deeply regret it. When I first saw the trailers of this show back in 2018, I thought it was going to be a boring slow show about a man made robot girl doing errands for people. I was too quick to judge at that time so I dismissed it and watched other shows. But when I finally saw a AMV of it in 2020, I finally sat down and gave it a shot. And wow, I was proven wrong in so many ways because I cried A LOT to this show. I never felt so connected to a show since watching Anohana. Violet Evergarden is A Absolute Masterpiece that many people should watch. I know it doesn't have that much action nor fast paced style artwork like other Anime, but the story is worth it. This show easily became one of My Top 5 Anime afterall.

I can definitely say I was in a similar boat. I had this show off to the side for a while because of so many assumptions I had about the anime. But after finally giving it a try, like you mentioned, I was drastically proven wrong. I would put this show up on my top 10 list, and without a doubt would recommend this show to anyone out there. The emotions that this show provides are something you don’t want to miss.

I only just watched it this week. I would agree it is a masterpiece, and while I think it is probably among the top anime for its script and conveyance of emotion, it has quite a sad and depressing tone overall. That said, I would recommend it to others as a must watch. The message seems to be that life is brutal and harsh but that we can find moments of hope and love to endure it. That is both comforting and depressing at the same time.

Amazing video, all of your points are amazingly valid and I couldn't find anything that I really disagreed with. Violet Evergarden was part of the first few animes I've watched, and up to this point it remains still my favorite anime of all time. Only one other has even come close to knocking it off the throne, that being Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song, and this video had me emotional just thinking about it again. Other than that, I 100% agree. It is a must watch masterpiece and I'm happy to be reminded of it again. On another note, have you watched Violet Evergarden: The Movie yet? I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the final movie. Hey Monk Kind! Yeah, I'm wondering if I should make a video alone discussing how I felt about the movie. To be entirely honest, just as much as the series and the 2 movie sequels + the special had touched my heart, I feel that the final movie was again one of those moments. Something like 30% of your script consists of the word "relatable" and conjugations of it. Unfortunately, without knowing more about you as a person and your life experience, this holds little usable information. I don't know what you relate to, and whether it would be something I can relate to, as well. More to the point - does the show offer anything beyond relatability? Imagine for a moment that you're speaking to a person who does not require verisimilitude in fiction and can enjoy a story whether or not it's relatable. Does the show offer anything to a person like that? And yes, I know this is a two-year-old video so I don't expect an actual answer. I felt compelled to comment, however, that this offers next to no actionable information about Violet Evergarden to someone who hasn't already seen it. Or is it meant solely for people who already have?

Hmm, I feel like I didn't catch that at all because my attention was so captivated by the different emotions being moved throughout the episode. I don't necessarily think that the producers were trying to "normalize pedophilia" and if anything, I think that's an exaggerated stretch to even get to that conclusion. Throughout the show, there isn't necessarily a time that something such as pedophilia is vividly emphasized or shown, rather the directors try their best to focus on replicating and showing the human emotions through the different scenarios, events, and characteristic developments. Or maybe I'm not fully understanding your perception... Could you perhaps elaborate on what you might be referring to as "normalizing pedophilia?" I'd love to talk to discuss your perspective. (:

@@Juhnime In episode five, the dialogue between the princess and Violet, as well as the romanticized portrayal of the princess’ meeting with her suitor at her birthday party (when she is 10 and he is 20) explicitly endorse their relationship. Violet states that age does not matter in love, in reference to the relationship between the now 14 year old and 24 year old. Of course weddings with those types of age gaps were commonplace in the general timeframe that the anime is set, but why include them? Why not make the princess an adult for the sake of not including predatory sexual relationships? I also started to get an impression that the major’s love for Violet might not have been exactly platonic, though I didn’t get far enough into the series to fully flesh that out. I feel like I got enough of the writers’ mindset from the princess storyline to guesstimate.

I guess the best thing that I could say is to look beyond what’s just being portrayed or depicted. At the end of the day, I feel that there would only be a couple individuals who would think this way. If you generally give the show your attentiveness to the emotional aspect of it, the film feels more comfortable to watch. But again, if that was the conclusion you came to, there’s not much I can say to that. I appreciate you sharing, though! (:
