Shibu Onsen is where Japenese people come to be traditional, wearing yukata's & bathing in the 9 natural onsens that run through the town.
The area is most famous for Jigokudani monkey park. Where wild macaques bathe in the hot springs during the winter months to avoid the cold
Japan has many mesmerising areas. Of course, you should visit Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. However there are so many secret Japanese villages and towns that are off the beaten path, at least by western tourists.
The best time of year to visit Shibu Onsen is December to March
To get here visit www.shibuonsen....

Love your vlogs, off to Japan for a month next week. We’re in Shibu Onsen for 2 nights. How long did it take to do all nine onsens, where did you get the robes and slippers, I’ve seen some videos of people stamping a souvenir cloth, did you see that?
@TravelBeans
@TravelBeans 5 жыл бұрын
You can probably get them from your hotel.. that's what we did. It was a long time ago so it's difficult to remember.. but I would guess it took us a couple of hours or so. Never saw a souvenir cloth..

Great video guys, what time of year was it when you were there? I noticed it was cold but never really saw any snow so I'm guessing Feb? I'm heading there in January :)

We were there around November/December.. it did snow at some points towards the end of our stay. So there might be snow in January. It's so beautiful when it snows there.. you'll love it. Enjoy your trip :)

@TravelBeans

Good question. My gf has tattoos (small) and was no problem. There was no one policing it so it should be fine but no guarantees. Yeah you can get beer easily in local restaurants and shops, at least we did :)

have you found any mixed bathing ones? I heard some are old fashioned where everyone is naked. personally I couldn't do that I'm not bold enough. I wouldn't mind mixed bathing with swim trunks on.
@TravelBeans
@TravelBeans 7 жыл бұрын
+Cliff Lee We never saw a mixed bathing onsen during our time in Japan. I thought before I visited an onsen that I would not be able to go in there completely naked, but I did it. It was very weird to be naked around other people at first, but after time it becomes less weird.

I love your video of Shibu Onsen, but I don't like the little prank you did on someone else's getas! you can do a prank in your home country, but in other people's countries, you need to adhere to their culture.

How naked are you talking about ?
@ShazWag
@ShazWag 7 жыл бұрын
Naked means no clothes. It's completely normal here in Germany to be completely naked at beaches, bathing around lakes, and even in parks in the summer. It's known as "FKK" (Freierkörperkultur) - "free body culture". You get used to it after a while...
