So, 11 LDS prophets (from Brigham Young to Spencer W. Kimball) claimed they were told by God that, based on the color of your skin, you could not make eternal covenants required for God's highest kingdom. How does that make sense? I’m not buying that God would instruct His prophets to deny the priesthood or temple ordinances to men and women based on skin color. The argument that they needed to appear racist for Utah to become a state is wild-as if a religion guided by a higher power couldn’t have received divine help to resolve that issue. The God I believe in is and was never racist! What did help Utah become a state was the LDS prophets ending the terrible idea of polygamy.

Thanks for your comments! I think the challenge is finding quotes that can back up the claim these prophets were told by God to ban blacks from the Priesthood. There are several quotes where they interpret scripture to mean that blacks should be banned from having priesthood blessings as well as quotes where they quote each other but by the time President David O. McKay comes around the language starts to shift away from a policy to an interpretation. This is where things begin to change and President Spencer W. Kimball then has the entire First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve fast and pray about this issue which is when the change known as the revelation on the priesthood in 1978 happens.

Wow, you covered a lot. Some of the things you said about the history of blacks and the priesthood were inaccurate. I would strongly recommend that you do more research on this topic before you post videos about it. Also, there’s no evidence there was a real revelation in 1978 that changed this doctrine of the LDS church, and there are several great books that have been written on this topic. Also, what you said about Utah joining as a state at the same time as California is incorrect. It became a US territory a couple of years after California became a state, and Utah did not become a state for several decades after that primarily because of polygamy. May I ask what certificate you are working on to complete these courses?

It is true Utah was a Territory in 1850 aling with California. Thanks for pointing it out.
