fun fact: not even just in the anime but in the mainline games team rocket is the only organization who's not only been the main antagonist in more than one generation but their also the only organization that's been active outside of their introduction region. With that said while meowth did have a influence in the rockets popularity it helped that jessie and james were more fleshed out than other antagonist. I'm sure the new villains of the anime have their own personal quarks but their going to have a hard ass time over shadowing the rockets popularity oh yea one more fun fact: apparently the rockets were going to be more serious villains throughout best wishes run time (that's why whenever ash and friends beat them instead of them blasting off again they got away on jet packs) but the Japanese fanbase hated this and loved the more goofy villains they used to be so they were later reverted back to such

You know what would’ve been the best send off to the iconic quartet? If Ash and Pikachu finally battled the entire organization of Team Rocket. The story would go as Team Rocket quartet finally caught Pikachu and presented him to the boss. The boss would seem incredibly disappointed and angry since he almost never saw Ash until Meowth points out the time they were in Unova. Giovanni then would keep the Pikachu for a moment and just dismiss them for future updates. Jessie and James would be celebrating with Meowth imagining finally being in the boss’s lap. But then Wobbuffet points out the blatant problem with what they just did after piecing two and two together, wouldn’t Pikachu be on the Boss’s lap? Meowth denies this as defeating Persian and Alolan Meowth was too important at the moment. (Not sure much with Ash’s side of this story but I at least know what happens at this point) After some time, Ash would barge in with all his Pokemon (yes, I suppose Avengers Endgame style) to finally defeat the Team Rocket organization. Ash’s team basically has the advantage since the grunts don’t compare to a champion. Archer and the other HGSS admins would appear, but not as important. Once in the office the secretary with the Alolan Meowth would try to fight to stall a bit more time for Giovanni’s new weapon, but the Persian would fight with Ash for basically being abused as a test subject after being replaced by Pikachu. Then Giovanni gets ready to battle Ash with his new weapon, Mega Mewtwo Y mind controlling Pikachu. After studying all Ash’s previous Pokemon league battles, he would use Pikachu to defeat all of Ash’s Pokemon. Ash would go into the line of fire (or Thunderbolt in this case) to try to save Pikachu. The Team Rocket quartet would then realize how meaningless the end goal was as earlier, they were told they were taking an early retirement as a “reward” with promised final pay. But they wanted more, which was already given in their multiple encounters with “those twerps”. They wanted to “shine” and to “matter”, something they got with their own “journey”. After rounding up all the other Pokémon they encountered along the way, they all fire attacks on Mega Mewtwo Y to save Ash and Pikachu. Mewtwo would obviously reflect it, but then Wobbuffet would reflect it leading to a game of Pong, with Meowth actually sneaking behind to deal Mewtwo with Fury Swipes. Because of terrible physical defense, Mewtwo would temporarily collapse, freeing Pikachu from the mind control. Ash would then ask why they would help him, but they would just saying, “just repaying the real boss of us”, with Ash and Pikachu making a big “what?” face. Giovanni would then turn Mewtwo into Mega Mewtwo X to beat up all of Team Rocket’s Pokemon, then attacking Jessie, James, Meowth, and Wobbuffet. Then this leads into a big ultimate final battle, with Ash and Pikachu doing the 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt as the last attack. Afterwards Mewtwo would be free and thanks Ash and Pikachu for always fighting against bad people and takes away the grunt’s Pokemon to a better place. The police arrest the everyone from Team Rocket, with Jessie, James, and Meowth turning themselves in. The secretary would be freaking out along with the Alolan Meowth as Nanu goes to pick up Persian and tells Giovanni “well, you known across the world, happy?” as he walks off with Giovanni wondering what went wrong. Jessie and James tell Ash thank you for starting their “journey” and sorry for trying to kidnap Pikachu, with Meowth having a one-to-one with Pikachu with Wobbuffet joining in for one last “Wobbuffet!” before the are taken away. Ash says “until we meet again” with Pikachu smiling with a big “Pika!”. Nanu would then tell Bewear what happened and Bewear would rush in with Stufful on the head, get every one of their Pokémon, and bail Jessie, James, Meowth, and Wobbuffet out of jail. They would then all go on their own Journey to get stronger and battle Ash and Pikachu not as villains, but as fellow Pokemon trainers. Nanu would say “they had the same eyes as “that kid”, so who knows what they can do, but they got something, and that’s good enough to start something” with the final scene being Jessie and James finally reunited with Arbok and Weezing like how Ash and Pikachu reunited with Butterfree in that last episode, with Meowth finishing the episode off with “as the journey continues”, with an added “Wobbuffet!”.

I love Team Rocket from the anime, they were hilarious, but they knew how to be tragic when necessary, even by the terms of the anime, I always ended up cracking a smile every single time I saw them without Ash being there in some way

They also tended to save the day in almost all the movies, surviving the shenanigans of Legendary pokemon. Which is also why they were never cut from Team Rocket, Giovanni never got Pokemon from them but did get primo intelligence on regions, teams, and superior Pokemon. An anime parallel to Ashs' that focused on Giovanni making moves based on their intel would not be out of place.

I think what was even more frustrating than the 600+ episodes that forced TR on viewers is the fact that we saw ALL of them thrive in fields outside of working under Giovanni, BUT they opted not to pursue those goals in order to catch Pikachu... D/P series showed us Meowth's amazing ramen noddle making skills with his claws ironically enough at a shop owned by a dude who couldn't cut it in Team Rocket! Jessie was amazing in contests in Sinnoh. I was proud of her WINNING 3 out of 5 contest ribbons and even making it into the semi-finals of the grand festival; remember James dressed up as her alter ego to win a ribbon and Dawn's doppelganger gave her ribbon to Jessie. I forgot what James might've been good at, but he has the best heart out of anyone in the group plus he's from a rich family so he'd be fine. I felt the biggest slap in the face when the Ashime...I mean anime let Ash go and we NEVER truly got an answer to what a Pokemon Master is. Even WORSE was that we saw the trio continue on their stalking journey to get his electric rat. WHAT A WASTE! I believe we even got a journeys episode where their 'rivals' Butch and Cassidy QUIT TR to thrive in another field of work. WHAT A FREAKING WASTE!!!

Team Rocket (Specifically Jessie, James, Meowth, and Wobbuffet) are iconic characters despite being main antagonists or secondary antagonists in later series. Team Rocket does show that they’re not completely evil with certain moments in the anime. They show they have humanity unlike most villains in the series. Despite failing to catch Pikachu, they truly love their own Pokémon, even their released Pokémon and their backstories had a depth to team Rocket which you can’t help but sympathize with

As much as team rocket is so beloved, I do know that Zactoshi isn’t very fond of the trio 😂😅 I still love watching his Pokemon videos cuz they’re fun to watch and I won’t deny that I kinda do agree with him about how team rocket can sometimes overstay their welcome way too much, for example in the indigo league where team rocket had way too much screentime than the actual Pokemon league, especially in the ash vs Ritchie episode where they were partly responsible that ash got a very bad defeat against Ritchie. But other than that, I do still like team rocket. I just wish they had a way better conclusion where they could quit team rocket and live a better and happier humble life like Butch and Cassidy did.

I love it how it was casually established that Jessie, James, and Meowth exist in the Game's continuity despite there being no explanation as to where they came from. Though the game's version of Meowth initially couldn't talk, Pokémon Masters did end up retconning this so he could. Ash literally had to have multiverse shenanigans happen in order to get him in the game's continuity (his appearance in Pokémon Masters) whereas Team Rocket just exists and aside from not having the relationship with Ash they're practically identical to their anime counterparts.

Wobuffet in general is more busted than some people give it credit for. It's notorious in nuzlockes for being able to randomly kill a team member if you run into one, and it has a pretty good competitive career thanks to stuff like it's high HP, counter and mirror coat to reflect damage back, and even encore and destiny bond as well

The problems with Team Plasma and Team Rocket in Unova was because of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. As the crux of the plan was an earthquake machine and there was visible destruction of property. They were forced to abort the storyline which got worse with Black and white 2. And since the show is simply a toy commercial. The showrunners were forced to quickly rewrite the arc to fit in with the sequels.

Actually episodes are planned and made 5 months before they are aired so even if the Team Rocket VS Team Plasma was aired the anime would have been the same at least until the Moeletta arc.

They have done the right things numerous times and won because they are good people, the just don't seem to realise that. One day I hope they get their happy ending.

I find it hilarious that a small amount of Unova Team Rocket fans (They really are a small amount yes many people like them in Unova but also like their goofy side) Think they should remain serious and humorless because they are villains.
