In E. Orthodoxy (the original Church) we still consider the events of the Book of Enoch history. It wasn't "banned". It just wasn't considered necessary to put it in the Bible itself. It's more like supplementary info for personal edification rather than cannonical text meant for liturgical purposes.

I actually asked my catholic priest if the book is rejected, or just not in the bible, and he said it isnt banned or rejected, but is just not considered inspirational towards the worship of God or Jesus and hence does not get included in the gospel, but catholics allow and support people converting from orthodoxy to maintain their faith in the book of Enoch if they like. So yeah, verified it seems.

Truth be told, the vast majority of the Old Testament is an oral tradition as the book of Genesis as well as the four books after it, was written down centuries later by Moses who likely was recording tales passed down by the Hebrews through word of mouth for generations. These were already very old stories long before they were ever written down.

The Eastern Orthodox church doesn't banned the book, because its not heretical. It was just not canonical. Having the "Bible" means that you read it in public in the Church. The book of Enoch is not read in Church that's all. As for the Oriental Orthodox Church (Ethiopian), you will have to ask them why they made it canon in their Bible. I do know this, the Angels (demons) that seduce women, were actually: Nephilim >Pagan King: A king worshiped as a god, often participating in religious rites that elevate his status to divine. >Temple Prostitute: A woman involved in temple rituals, often dedicated to serving deities through sexual rites. >Demonic Possession: A demon, considered a false god, would be summoned and possess one of the participants, usually through blood sacrifices and using masks in the ritual. The child born from this union is considered 100% human but legally 2/3 god and 1/3 human, echoing the semi-divine nature of figures like Gilgamesh, who is often referred to as a Nephilim in certain ancient stories. Nephilim in the context of ancient Near Eastern mythologies and rituals, emphasizing their perceived divine or semi-divine status through legal and ritualistic frameworks rather than purely biological terms.

This is what bothers me though, you mean to tell me that God got so upset with the wickedness of his human beings and that time that he created a flood? But somehow we're not more wicked today than of yesterday? That doesn't make any sense. I'm sure we are more wicked today in our era, than our ancestors of old in their Era. If anything, we've gotten worse, so it makes sense that he would flood us now and not back then. There has to be more to the story instead of just sin and wickedness that human beings do, which is expected. Paul says It's almost impossible to worship God perfectly within this flesh that we have. In fact, the only way we will be able to worship Him without the wickedness is that we must be separated from our bodies; good deeds you will not do because of this flesh. Not in this world, you cannot serve God perfectly in this world. Which is the point of Jesus in the first place. I'm just a little lost on this wickedness. I think we're more wicked today than ever in human history. It just has to be more to that story.

The book should be in the Bible in not in my opinion but from recent discoveries there's two reasons why it belongs in the Bible: number one Howard Enoch and possibly have known about the way that the planets orbit and revolve. He couldn't possibly have that information given to him from anyone but from someone that knew more than any other human on the planet . Number two two of the Apostles of Jesus burial tombs have been found a copy of the Book of Enoch, so we know that Jesus and the 12 April also read and studied this book . So my firm belief they were leading by example, because they knew it was real and authentic and was inspired by the Lord our Creator. On top of the fact it does books carbon date to roughly the right time for it to have been written in Enochs lifetime. Also was God so incompetent that there was a WAR BROKE OUT IN HEAVEN!!! I believe God is all powerful and is Sovereign. Within that I believe He by His word shows that God Allows things to happen and evolve for and only for Him to be Glorified. Also, Enoch should be In the Traditional bible for one Solid reason, it not only reveals the harsh reality of what happens to creatures given supernatural powers but also the entire book comes to a firey, blazing, white hot Glorification of Gods power, so much so that Enoch humbled himself so low as to not have a famous name of prophet, apostle etc. If you have any book that glorifies God and puts him first, it should be sought after, quoted and read.

Genisis 6:2 specifically mentions sons of God marrying human women so they did have monster creations that lived alongside humans (the women the angels married had to have come from somewhere). I could also point out that some scholars don’t agree on if God gave his Angels free will or not. Based on the view if they did have free will then who’s to say what is written in Enoch could be false? Because if you choose to believe that they didn’t have free will then God knew they would have sex with human women. If you believe he gave them free will then he wouldn’t step in until it became a bigger issue, and didn’t know his angels would sin that way. We also cant assume we know God’s sense of time.

When asking why it wasn't included, you have to first remind yourself what the bible is about. The bible isn't about history or mankind. It's about the history of God and his grace towards mankind. Enoch also not having an author is one of its major problems. All of the Old Testament has an author for all of its books. And the author of the pre and post flood books up until Israel returning to Canaan is Moses. Moses did not write Enoch which kind of invalidates the book. Because at that time most of the oral traditions of Israel had been lost to time. Moses wrote his books under the direct influence of God the Father atop Mt Sinai.

The early church fathers were careful in verifying the authors of books when they began compiling what would be known as the Bible.

I believe the bible purposefully left out books that go against the message put forth in Mathew, Mark, Luke and John. The book of Daniel put for that you atain light from yourself not God. It doesn't not say salvation but still goes against aspect key to those. I also suspect Mary Magdalena and Judaa also wrote books which offer other aspects that are not in line with the teaching of canonical books. Why would they discount a book where the man so righteous he was saved from death? Sure if this was heretical or blasphemous that it qualify him as unrighteousness.

I know it is integral to Christian thought, but the idea that God is perfect and all-knowing is not really one that shows up in the Old Testament. The God of those stories makes mistakes all the time, He forgets things or is unaware of certain events. The truth is that the idea of an infallible being did not occur to people of various religions until much later in human history. The God character in Genesis is flawed and capable of learning from His flaws and therein lies the lesson in the text. By reading about these mistakes, future generations have a chance to avoid them.

I will admit, you did a good job conveying why the book of Enoch was not added to the Biblical canon, and I am impressed that you pointed out the argument that simply because Jude quoted from Enoch doesn't mean that Enoch is inspired as Paul quoted pagan poems but that doesn't mean those pagan poems are inspired by God. However I am disappointed that you left out one major component as to why the book was rejected and made one mistake that I"m not sure you know of. The mistake is using the epistle/'gospel' of Barnabas as if it were a legitimate source despite the fact that it is a proven medieval forgery that wasn't written by Barnabas. The major component you failed to address that would automatically disqualify the book of Enoch from being inspired by God is the fact that the book of Enoch claims that Enoch, not Jesus, is THE Son of Man. That alone is heresy and thus easily rejected. All those claiming that the Church is 'hiding' or has been trying to 'hide' this book from the world are sorely wrong, and it's even worse if you claim to be a Christian. If you are a Christian and believe that the book of Enoch is actually inspired by God, should be in the Bible, and that the Church is trying to hide it and keep it out of the Biblical canon, you put your faith more in a modern day conspiracy theory than in Jesus Christ and His Church whom He gave authority to. I'd much rather put my faith in Christ and in His Church whom He gave authority on Earth to than a modern day conspiracy theory that is and has been easily debunked.

Having in mind that Enoch was Ethiopian it would of challenged that the first prophet was African and not from a eastern country .remember the first bible was put together in a council where they chose the books to the convenience of Constantine
