A memorial for Queen Elizabeth II has stood at the Treaty Grounds beneath the pōhutukawa tree she planted in 1953. Te Aniwa Hurihanganui explains the special relationship the late Queen had with Waitangi.

@That_Lexus_Guy

Was it her that took it or the people that came before her? If it's the latter perhaps we shouldn't be so quick to judge Elizabeth for the actions committed by say her Great Grandmother and in so doing maybe she had the power to right these wrongs? Maybe she didn't? Just because you hold the title of King or Queen doesn't mean you hold all the power, a lot of the monarchies power was handed off to the likes of the British Parliament and other subsidiaries to the Government so maybe while deep in her mind she wanted to right said wrongs she couldn't because the Government ultimately decided against it for reasons we shall never know, and yes you could argue that she had the power to overrule the Governments decision in that case but then the question should be if she could've done that and didn't then why?... There is always a reason behind a rulers actions and it doesn't always necessarily boil down to just greed or corruption, sometimes a ruler or leaders choice on somethings can have far greater meaning than we common folk could ever understand. Take the throne to act and the throne acts upon you...

@@That_Lexus_Guy It matters, because it's the same bloody monarchy. My family are dead, in France, Egypt, South Africa, Greece. Not only because they fought tyrants, but also because the "crown" used forced conscription, the monarchy using NZ people as cannon fodder to protect their own assets and interests around the world. Her first visit to the country was 1953-1954. She visited 8 times inbetween then but didn't apologize until 1995 - and it wasn't even to all Maori. The land and iwi she apologized to got compensation - 172 Million, when the land was estimated at 12.1 Billion. Tell me Jason, if I busted through your home with 18,000 militia and soldiers, raped your family, locked your children and elderly in a home, setting fire to it, watching them scream and burn, 150 years later saying "sorry" and giving you $5,000, when the land stolen is estimated at $5,000,000. They have blood on their hands, and to put that into perspective, this happened 20 years AFTER SIGNING THE TREATY.

@@ItzCoopzFtw cope and seethe, god save the queen. The Maoris also have blood on their hands, lets not forget about the Moriori Genocide committed by Ngāti Mutunga and Ngāti Tama tribes. 95% of the Moriori Tribes were murdered, and the rest were enslaved. None of the iwi tribes responsible for the Moriori Genocide have apologised and there has been no such attempt of financial compensation for the Moriori. The Maoris have blood on their hands too, and it is the Maoris who aren't honouring the treaty of waitangi. The Maoris are hypocrites and uncivilized ingrates who should be more thankful for what the British have done.

@@NZCLUB_reals Accept god or suffer. That’s black mail and extortion. I wouldn’t tolerate that behaviour from my partner, so why should anyone accept it from your man made god? Apparently the only way god could change his opinion about sin was to impregnate a woman with himself, so he could then send himself as a human sacrifice to himself to save humanity from the torment he said we deserved for breaking rules he designed. All the while knowing completely that we weren’t capable of following them to his satisfaction and we would break them anyway. This was the best plan that an Omnipotent Deity could come up with?
