Imagine if they instead printed Deja Vu. If you don't know, Deja Vu is a Quick-play Spell that appears only in the manga (AND ONLY in the manga, as the anime adaptation of that duel had to be rewritten in multiple points due to a few card effects being changed), where it was played by Bakura in the Battle City finals. To make it short, it retroactively negates anything your opponent did after their last End Phase. Monsters that left the field come back, monsters that were summoned return to the hand, Graveyard, Extra Deck or wherever they originally were and any spell/trap they activated is just gone.

I play Branded and that effect would be a NUISANCE! The End Phase is basically a third Main Phase and that could mess up half of my previous turn.

I love the design of this card. A main deckable card as it is great going first and second, and is extremely versatile in terms of what it can negate. I do think though that it is a bit too strong going first, so I think it should have a clause like "if this card was set before being activated, discard 1 card" or something.

I actually don't think this card is that amazing. It'd definitely see a lot of competitive play, don't get me wrong, but it has a lot of problems that I'll get into. 1. The card does not interact with the hand or GY at all. Tearlaments havnis? Will resolve. Any GY effect like rollback? Going to resolve. Most importantly... ash blossom? Yea, that's fine. 2. It's not a hand trap. I wouldn't say it's bad at helping you go second, but it's not a board breaker. In a lot of cases it will just be a replacement for forbidden chalice, just also with the upside of being able to negate things like skill drain or dimensional barrier. Forbidden chalice sees little to no play in the current metagame. 3. The card economy is not good in a lot of cases. It's often going to negate a monster or spell, and in the case of the monster I'm not sure that's good enough. I still think a card like imperm would see more play, especially if your deck needs help going second rather than first, since I do believe this card is better when going first than a traditional hand trap. 4. HOPT. I don't think this card needs a hard once per turn clause on it, but having it will just lead to more feels bad moments if you play 3 copies. You usually want your HOPT turn cards to have very high impact, and I don't think this quite meets that mark. It can still be interacted with, unlike droplet, and will never be better than a 1 for 1, unlike something like thrust or talents. There might even be some other less obvious reasons, and again I acknowledge that this card is good and would see a ton of play, especially in side-decks (probably just a strict upgrade to cosmic cyclone in most cases), but "Yu-Gi-Oh's best card"? I think that's pushing it a bit.

I think this card has the same problem Called By and Crossout have, it just makes going first too ignorant or a "minigame" whatever you want to call it. And maybe just a year or so ago it would have been okay with handtraps and most turn 1 interaction happening from the hand as discards or staying in the hand. But with Konami being willing to print more literal handtraps like the Dominus cards, this is just another Called By/Crossout, just for Imperm/Dominus and whatever new Trap handtraps Konami prints.

Sinful spoils of betrayal - silvera has a similar effect, but not only it is a trap, but also is a inherit -1 and requires a specific monster on the field so its vulnerable to both spell and monster removal to simply answer the question, because its disgustingly overpower

Cards like this are why I like the same-style trap card(s) in raid raptors and lightsworn. Sooooooo good if usable like the hypothetical card. The drawbacks on being a trap is what sucks.

I don’t love the implications of this as an endboard piece going first. Imperm is a card you can often play around, not least because it’s by far the most likely card you’d expect to see set in the backrow of a combo-adjacent deck - playing around a monster negate is one thing, but a pseudo-omni is another thing entirely. With a stipulation requiring the user to control equal or fewer monsters, I think it becomes a really interesting tech option. It’d still have turn 1 utility for lower-ceiling decks (a 2-monster Voiceless board would have this card become live very quickly, for example), could lead to interesting board manipulation strats (self-banish with SP, chain to Seals after it tributes itself for cost but before summoning, etc) and would still hold value for any deck as a dedicated post-side breaker.

Traptrix Atypus has a similar effect. But you have to go through a lot of resources to get to that effect. Using 3 monsters, targeting face up cards your opponent controls and negate up to the plant/reptile. It takes a lot and would be nice if this card existed.

I think,the perfect way to balance this card out is by also negating a monster in your field with the highest Atk,then we can take it’s once per turn clause.

its definitely a bit too strong for such an effect without a cost, liek even the other forbidden quickplays has some cost or demerit in exchange for their effects so something like; “target one face up card the opponent controls: when that opponent’s card resolve they can send from their hand or field to the grave or banishment (their choice) a card of the same type as the targeted card (monster, spell or trap) otherwise negate its effects until the end of this turn. you can only activate 1 “forbidden return” per turn”

Searchable by Condemned Witch. I wonder if it would me her worth playing in some situation. But in my opinion the effect doesn't follow the pattern of the theme. Unlike Forbidden Chalice, Forbidden Droplet and Sanctified Darklord all which feature the Chalice and negate a monster, this one, themewise, either would have to be another iteration of the Chalice or be some other theme entirely. That being said, I'm still waiting for new Forbidden cards revamping Lance, Dress and Scripture, and the continuation of the Darklord storyline.

As much as i like this idea, this will just make going first even better which is already an issue and further power creep the game cause decks that cant run at least half a deck of hand traps wont be able to compete. Honestly for now, the only thing i would like is a monster hand trap or kaiju that removes back row.

Force of will would translate to Yugioh like paying half of your LP, then banish one card from your hand; negate target card. But the cost of banishing a card from the hand would be too much for it to be competitively played.

It’s a busted card which’ll is very polarizing and will take very strong staples such as cyclone and s/t/monster removal out of the meta as it’s such a hard counter to them also being pretty auto include in most decks whether going first or second. Those are just my thoughts, releasing this card is very ignorant IMO…
