Why we chose the SuperMax Tools 25-50 Drum Sander

At the end of 2016 we received our SuperMax 25-50 drum sander and 1.5 Hp dust collector. After setting both of them up (incredibly easy to assemble btw) and running them for a while we wanted to let you know why we choose this brand and these models over the other drum sanders on the market.
As a small business, when it comes to deciding on new equipment we do our homework. The SuperMax 25-50 is a well engineered product that yields fantastic results. It has the greatest single pass capacity out of all of the cantilever style drum sanders on the market today. Even with the optional extras that SuperMax offers the SuperMax 25-50 still comes in several hundred dollars less than its competitors without sacrificing any quality.
We would highly recommend the SuperMax 25-50 Drum Sander or any SuperMax product to anyone in the market for a drum sander. SuperMax offers a wide variety of machines in terms of capacity and power. These are fantastic machines and great time savers!

Any issues with the intellisand feature. Ive seen some reviews cuting the intellisand slowing down too much and burning pieces.

I've never had any issue but I always run it on the conservative side. Generally when the intellisand kicks in I turn the handle a bit to reduce the load. These machines are great but I always have to remember it's not a planer/thicknesser. I still highly recommend one if you can swing it.

@@TheMikeRybak I'm interested for the fact that I hate scraping the glue ups and the planer always messes up glue ups. I just think a drum sander is the way to go if you got to glue up table tops

mind if I ask what specific brand of sandpaper you're using with success for this 25-50?

I stick with the SuperMax Brand paper and use one of those cleaning sticks to get more life out of it. The stick is like a big eraser.

@@TheMikeRybak thank sir. i just went on ahead and initially ordered 4 rolls of each grit to get me started with the new 25-50 that's supposed to be here in 2 weeks. your video helped solidify that decision vs other brands so thanks

I think if you are in woodworking for the long haul it's totally worth the money. It is definitely not a planer but the extra width has saved me a few times on build where things go "less than flat lol". If you do a lot of end grain cutting boards this thing is awesome to have in any size. The build quality is top notch, no issue or troubles since owning it. I would 100% buy the digital read out. The analog scale is perfectly fine but the read out will make life SO much easier. I've built plenty of things with out this sander but I'm happy I have it. It is big and has large foot print when assembled. So in a small shop it tends to get in the way and it is pretty heavy to move, even on wheels. Even with the factory in/outfeed tables running large heavy table tops are difficult and you can get snipe if you don't have a good in/outfeed cart or table on either end or two people running the process. Dust collection is a must. Ask any questions you might have. I'll do my best
