Fight, flight are only 2 of the 4 trauma responses, the other 2 being Fawn & Freeze. What she was doing here was fawning aka people pleasing, or trying to fit in with the group as she felt was important valued and yes, is covertly manipulative. Really surprised that more is not known of the Fawn and Freeze, especially among those so qualified academically in psychology.
