I personally love Ydris simply because he’s chaotic, as I like to say, he has kinda “Loki-ish” personality. I mean, he does whatever he wants, creates trouble for fun, messes with everyone and everything he can until consequences catch up with him, is distrusted by practically the whole Jorvik, but is still asked for help when things go south. And on top of that, he’s an unpredictable madman: one moment he’s your vicious enemy and the other - a precious ally. Also, he has a clear goal and motivations for his actions as well as an established (although questionable) moral code. All in all, Ydris in my perspective is a chaotic neutral, morally grey character, who acts by his own rules is the most likely to do something unexpected. And that's why I adore him. Good God... Old Ydris- 2013 trauma I have never recovered from. Though I don't find him "sexy" I think Starstable nailed his character redesign and it was definitely a huge improvement. Whoever made his new design and decided on his personality really deserved a raise. 2018 was definitely the golden age of SSO redesigns (Besides for the Soulriders), another one of my favorites was Evergray which you can tell was modeled by the same person due to the style and textures.

Old video, but here is my thoughts: Most of the things you said are definitely true, although I don't hate the look of old Ydris, either. He is definitely a very flirtatious character, with his french pet names for our character. I would also say our character is in many ways, closer to him than many other NPC's, being one the first character we come across. He also doesn't send us on a ton of fetch quests, either. He also seems to trust our character more than the soul riders/the keepers of Aideen, and in some ways he is nicer and friendlier than the soul riders. He also is a very morally ambiguous character, which is refreshing at times. SSO has been pretty good with LBGTQ characters, with Lisa being bi, Raina's mother is a lesbian, Syntax and Rowan (not sure if that is their name) are nonbinary, and of course, Alex and Maya. If Ydris was gay I think we would know. I primarily think Ydris is A. Too self-absorbed to be in a relationship and B. our character is too young and inexperienced. I'm not sure how old Ydris is, but he is probably much older than he looks, and even if he is only in his mid to late twenties (SSO wiki says pre-update that he was in his 40s), that is still around a decade older than our character. He also is much more powerful, too. With my character, they have a very close friendship, although he certainly does keep his secrets. But at the same time, he does reveal a good more to her than others, and values her approval. There is a bit of underlying romance, she really does look up to him and he does flirt with her a lot, but it (both in game and headcanon) it will not go anywhere because of her age and inexperience.

I personally like Ydris for different reasons. I will not argue or lie that he is fairly attractive with his glow up, he looks approachable and handsome, but for me... I LOVE his outfit and top hat; I LOVE top hats; and I mostly love the way he talks. He took on French airs (?). Using French, a very romantic type of language and using it as he speaks is something I really like about Ydris. I happen to like ring masters for being mysterious, clever, charismatic... and for their clothes and those top hats. But I will say this, I have NEVER wanted to date Ydris. I found him more of a figure I knew I could rely on but only as far as I could throw him so to speak. He was a neither here nor there kind of Pandorian. As in he was neither on the side of the Soul Riders nor on the side of the Dark Riders, he was someone who was neutral unless he saw a reason to side with one or the other.

I admired him mainly by how he thinks on horses …. He finds it “inappropriate” to control / ride a horse because he can’t disrespect anything “as intelligent” as we are.. that’s probably why he never rides Zee. To him, controlling such animal as a “rider” does. It’s just not his preference. And I actually respect it. Confidence. Style. One thing everyone seems to be overlooking about Ydris is that despite his arrogance and god complex, you ever notice how much he does actually acknowlegde and appreciate our character's specialness and helpfulness to him in some quests where we help him out (especially evident in the questline with Isebell when we helped save his show)? Even in most of his mystery fortunes that contain warnings of peril for you, HE makes an effort to help YOU. Especially psychologically. Like bro gives a lot of wise words and helpful advice to empower you as a person, and he's definitely the kind of frienemy that's an overall good sport about loosing to you. THAT's what got me hooked & head over heels more than I had for any character or irl person before him. He may seem arrogant/egotistical, but he acknowledges you, and hints that he understands your value and importance to the world. 😭🥰 Not to mention, he's more complex than most know, and I'm planning on making a thing that talks about him in depth. I haven't played thru ALL the story yet tho, so it will be quite a long time before I do.

About your last point, don't get me wrong, I respect your and everybody else's interpretation of the character, but he sounds more like asexual to me (boys play the game too, and although they aren't the main demographic I think Star Stable do know that), or just a person who is annoyed with displays of attention, an/or just doesn't look fora relationship, and I do kinda base it on myself because although I can be attracted to the person (which disqualifies me from being asexual) I am not looking for any relationship as those kinda scare me. He definitely doesn't seem like a guy who would be scared of anything, and as you pointed out this is in part why we love him, but he as a Pandoryan might find the concept of them as silly and unnecessary.

Personally I like to view Ydris as being aromantic and asexual instead. He totally gives me LGBTQ+ vibes, and even though he tends to be quite flirtatious, I think it’s more of a background for the character and a way of acting summed up with his confidence and pride, rather than a plain flirty “get all girls” vibe. He thinks he’s too good for anyone and because of his origins (pandorian, unknown age, maybe immortal, super powerful) he’d rather not have any romantic experiences. Just my guess.

Mmm, cool Ydris vid :) I think his face is 100% based on Tom Hiddleston's Loki c.2014, hence the hotness ;p But I don't think he's necessarily LGBTQ+ - when he says he's not interested in people with crushes and gently rebuffs the player's attentions, I think it's the age gap. He's clearly an adult and, being Pandorian and not subscibing to earth's notion of time, potentially extremely old. While the player started off as a mid- to late-teen and now looks 14 at most. So that would be a highly inappropriate relationship!

As much as I like the character, I will never understand how you can find an animated character attractive....Then again, I am aroace, so maybe that is the reason lol. And yes, he might lgbtq+, but I think it is important to remember that the form we see him in, is not, in fact, his true form. He is not human, and so I think it is unlikely he could even fall in love with a human, regardless of their gender.
