No state tax, no building codes, no property tax, no HOA! That’s a few reasons I picked where I am. Of course no building codes is how my cabin ended up needing a bunch of work! And yeah, I carry because of animals mostly too. No state lets you live more free than Alaska. Love Ron’s channel! I found him because he comments your videos! I would never live in California (sorry Ron)and glad I left Colorado which is trying to become California 2.0! LIVE FREE!!😉

No property tax, one not has to buy a plot of land there? Just building in the middle of nowhere? It can be very dangerous to be completely alone i think. Greetings

Hey CB hope you both are doing good. I filmed the boat yesterday. I spent almost 4 hours checking out the boat and asking questions or pointing out issues or concerns. I honestly hope I got enough video of the boat😂 We shall see. If everything goes right I should pick it up on the 24th. I can’t wait.

Much as I love Utah I can't wait to move back to Alaska full time. Worked four summer tour seasons up there in college over 10 years ago and always said I feel like I left a piece of myself there. The beauty, wildness, personal freedom and responsibility, no income tax, no codes or permits, outdoor recreation, are some of the many reasons I love Alaska. An extended family member may be inheriting an old cabin on the Kenai Peninsula and they've offered to let me live there for free for a few years in exchange for renovating it. That will be my foothold into living up there full time forever I hope.

If I was younger, Alaska would be great. We're both retired military and we retired to Texas. No state income tax, and where we are everyone carries, fresh fruit and vegetables year around in our area, seldom get below 40 degrees and good neighbors.

Grew up in Idaho. Agree the mindset of Freedom is solid there. Alaska is next level. Utah where I'm at when not in AK is decent as well. Only looking at an entire State is tricky as cities in most states turn the wrong way. Boise. Salt Lake. They are the wrong path. Rural is the key!!

Difference between your pipeline and the Keystone pipeline is the oil in Alaska is U.S. Oil....The oil for the keystone pipeline is Canadian oil destined for the open market...Only ones that will make money off of that is big business refineries where the Canadian oil is going to to be refined...Love Idaho...After my parents divorced my dad moved there so have been there quite a few times...Very pretty state....Sure would like to see Alaska someday...Stay safe, be well...

Wow you are right that Fairbanks is so different from the area you live. I was stationed at Eielson AFB, Alaska in the early 80s. The winters there are damn harsh and long to put it mildly. I am a very outdoorsy person that was born and raised in Montana. However, I did not enjoy my time at Eielson AFB. It was mainly because I was a 20 year old single Airman living in the barracks. Being single my tour at Eielson AFB was 1 1/2 years long. I arrived at Eielson AFB in October if you count the 18 months I was there you will realize that I spent 2 winters and 1 summer there. It took a lot of the fun away from it. That fact that I was stationed more than 30 miles south of Fairbanks and there were very few young ladies made it much harder for a young Airman. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to enjoy a lot of Alaska the way that others do. Even if I did go hunting, salmon and halibut fishing I wouldn't have been able to store the meat. I did do some catch and release fly fishing for grayling during the one summer I was there. Oh, the one thing I almost forgot is the skeeters. It was almost impossible to go outside during the summer months unless you had skeeter dope on. I have never seen a place with so many of them, and they are very large.

We looked up in that area and found a nice cabin on a lake but my wife really wanted to be close to her parents.

@@AnAlaskaHomestead it really is a beautiful area. I've spent a lot of time in your area in the past. Southeast is my favorite part of Alaska but the family wanted to be on the road system.

Curious if you ever worry about your dogs running free out there? We live in Northern Manitoba, and have let our dog run free a lot. Only started to worry about it lately. For the most part, dogs will scare off most animals but there's a risk you take for sure. Cheers and looks like a good life out there!

This is amazing you talked about what you did. I am from Ohio back in August I drove up from Denver with 2 friends for salmon festival. It was a dream of mine to visit the state and after the time I spent up there I want to come back hopefully forever. Trying to find property and a job now. #2AShallNotBeInfringed

Sadly, we have city sales tax in Sitka (5% off-season, 6% during terrorist season), PSG has city sales tax, and I know KTN does, too (borough + city = 6.5%). We bought our big boat through BayCo in KTN, and at the time of our purchase, their sales tax applied to everyone equally, regardless of where you live, and it was capped at $65. Now, they're required to charge you sales tax for large purchases based on the sales tax of where you reside, which means our Lund that we just purchased from them cost us 11X more in sales tax than our North River. Seems like they get you coming or going, but I'd rather the tax dollars stay local. The other great thing about living in AK is that you can, if you put enough effort into it, live a subsistence lifestyle and spend little on meat or veg. 😊 We're excited for you guys and your new boat--let the fun, and an all new level of anxiety, begin!

Well it’s not just Juneau that has taxes. I’m glad we can all suffer together 😂 I agree you can definitely be very self sufficient here. I’d say more so here than in the interior.

I live in Texas but Alaska is the most beautiful place I have been to. Have gone 7 times and hoping to go more. Most of my trips have been to the inside passage. I understand how you decide to live near Juneau. What a beautiful place.

Soldotna and Kenai charge sales tax inside their city limits. Also, that PFD check was the largest ever. It's usually not nearly that much.

It’s funny, you mention New Hampshire, I live in New Hampshire, and I absolutely love the four seasons and the fall foliage. However, you cannot do anything in this state without drawing a permit, and everything in the state is astronomically expensive and you cannot afford to buy property. I’m looking to buy a house now and I can’t even find a double wide on more than an acre of land for under $350,000.

Glad to see y'all are doing alright and keep living that dream . Thanks for taking us on your journey of life . Well I. Live here in Kentucky and we have alot of freedoms here , like the freedom of concealed carry without a permit or a license and most 9f it is extreme country living . God Bless Y'all and Stay Safe ❤️🇺🇲🙏🇺🇲 . I'd have to say that Kentucky and Alaska would be my only two choices where I'd want to live at . I've been hunting , fishing and trapping with my Dad all of my life and been shooting and owning all types of guns all of my life .

Love watching the dogs run wild in the snow. Alaska is just somewhere a good sidearm is pretty much a requirement unless you're never getting off the asfault in Anchorage. Even then, the moose are like stray cats here and I have my 10mm even when I take the dog out because you never know when you walk out the door and a moose is right there. Usually they don't pay you any mind but there is always that chance you step out on a big bull or a cow with a calf and things can get "wild" real fast. If I was healthier and was able to live out like you guys, i'd do that in a heart beat.

I'm glad to hear the boat is coming soon. The only thing that I have that you don't is property tax and my tax for this you was 80 dollars. I live in N.E. Texas in the country. I do carry a gun and we have both types of Constitutional and permit. That's so you can cross into another state with your gun. But you have the Best scenery around you it's Beautiful up there.
