WAY back in the day, I was an English teacher in Mexico City. One of my fellow teachers was a gentleman from Veracruz who was more Afro than Mexican. His English was amazing and we hung out a lot between classes. We came upon a group of his friends from Africa and he stopped me and said, "Are you cool with this?",...gesturing towards them and back to me. It was an interesting cultural moment. I had lost sight of the fact that the majority of Mexicans consider us white gringos to be closeted members of the KKK. I got a bit of a chuckle out of it but felt sad at the same time.

Look up the Paseo del Río y Reserva animal and the Teleférico near by that takes you to the top of a nearby mountain that is a historic park where you’ll learn the history of Veracruz and my favorite get to zip line and see the entire city hundreds of feet up in the air!! @@TheYarbros Yes, habits are important, but I am sure I would have difficulty doing this if I awoke at 3 am to teach english lessons. Whenever I feel a lack of motivation, I just tell myself to at least do the minimum and preserve the habit. This has worked for exercise, but not for language learning. When, I have something urgent that begins to consume the majority of my time or excessive stress, I often lose the daily language habit. Oaxaca has all the points separately credited to all the other states. Oaxaca City is the center for over 16 indigenous groups, not including the Afro-Mexicans that also live here. These indigenous groups are what make Oaxaca so unique for its foods, its fabrics, its culture. Going down to the coast, you get the surfing. I'm not a surfer but I heard championship during is held here regularly. They also have crocodiles and turtle releases and one of(I think) three nude beaches. In between, is the highest mountain range of Mexico with coffee plantations , mushrooms, and waterfalls galore.Check us out!

You should come to Tampico on the Gulf coast. Good food, warm weather, and a beautiful beach.

San Jose del Cabo is a very nice area and a bit more chill than Cabo San Lucas. But both are great. If you’re staying just a bit of time, check out the Cabo Passport to save some cash. And the fishing is amazing. So eat some good seafood. Those squirrels in Colomos are gangstas for real. But definitely a very nice park. Greeting from Chicago! GDL in 2 weeks baby!!!

I watched your videos to help me decide where to visit. Came to GDL and fell in love with the city. BTW...The mosquitoes in Veracruz, Boca del Rio are a different breed their bites were painful. Please have spray because those mosquitoes are the real cartel🤣🤣

There's a lot to love in GDL, glad it like it! I wish you didn't tell me about those mosquitoes. We ran away from them in Merida. We'll make sure we're prepared😅

I would skip Veracruz💀, been twice, a little dicey along the coast. The anthropology museum in Xalapa is awesome as it gets (cool little town, ck out Coatepec, a taxi ride away, it is The Coffee capital of Mexico, best coffee at a teeny-tiny cafe on side of the zocalo. Go to Oaxaca de Juarez & settle in. Damn, you will Love the food there-a lot for every budget, very much a cafe culture, artsy, the cradle of democracy in Mexico and you can feel the difference from Christian conservative Merida (which I like also), but Oaxaca rules. So much culture, so beautiful, a perfect climate. Enjoyed your Guadalajara updates.

Good info, as I sit up here in Washington State, toiling in the wine industry. I'm very interested in the new Mexican wine experience. We are looking to expat slow travel starting next year, if COVID permits. I love Oaxaca for food. Never went to Guadalajara, but have spent time in Mazatlan and Guanajuato. All the best on your journey!

New here, La Perla Tapatía is AWESOME, lol...just like Aguascalientes squirrels there so are the Jalisco squirrels begging for munchies, and yes the Culinary capital of the country is Oaxaca, followed by Puebla(in my opinion). As for my black conationals, Veracruz, Oaxaca and the coast of Guerrero are to be found there. Thumbs up, liked and greetings from Querétaro! :)

Sorry to hear you are leaving GDL, but I am happy for you because you are travelers so you got to go! 🤗 My Family is building apartments in GDL so if you ever come back, hopefully the apartments are done by then, and we will rent to you for a VERY affordable price 💰. Our idea is to rent these apartments via Airbnb. Good luck to you!! Ps: This is a local and safe area not the LUXURY apartments y'all been to. But since you've already done the luxury you can check out the local affordable apartments. Save MONEY
