Hey I stumbled upon your channel from your recent video about Apple. Really interesting and well researched stuff, but just one bit of feedback: your voice always sounds a bit muffled. I'm not sure if it's the volume levelling or something...if this is fixed I can definitely see myself binge watching your videos!

Hey, thanks for dropping by, and thanks you for the feedback about audio. A few people have already mentioned it to me. I’ll definitely be focusing on it in future videos.

I wonder if technology has changed the kind of intelligence that today, is used...so needed. It seems these days that crystallized intelligence is less valuable than fluid. I'm in my 50's. In grade school I remember being drilled, regularly on math facts like multiplication tables. We were told we'd need this information memorized, because as adults, it's not like we'd always have access to a calcilator This is clearly not true today. I do always have a calculator (phone, tablet, computer) in reach at all times. What I do use today is the understanding of slaving problems using math. So, figuring out the cost of an item on sale, or the dimensions of a project I'm building, or what the compund interest woild be on that loan. I can't use a calculator to figure out how to solve the problem. I can just use it to do the arithmetic for me. My needs are different today than my grade school teachers understood. I only attended college after high school for just over a year. I didn't get my BS until I went back in my late 40's. School was so different. One big difference was that more focus was placed on where to find information and what to do with it, than just memorizing it. We know that IQ test are imperfect instruments that contain all sorts of biases (an example are cultural biases, which may partially explain a difference of test scores in immigrants populations). What if the instrument that was created in the early 1900's isn't a reliable instrument to measure intelligence today due to a bias to the kind of intelligence that was needed more back in the early 1900's?

In the university, I found that my IQ was 134... OK, now I have a Ph.D. degree that proves it? But my wife has an IQ of around 165, but she couldn't go to the university, and now she has entered it but couldn't finish it... I found that I am learning a lot of things every day, but I don't remember where I left the keys or the tools that I use always, so now I left always in the same place or the same pocket.... probably I am a stupid person that thinks that is intelligent.

Or maybe we're all just dumbening.
@mikitz Жыл бұрын
On a more serious note, conscientiousness has a lot to do with the disparity you mentioned, as well as the ability to handle pressure. Won't mention my own IQ here, but some people just don't even want to go to a university, regardless of their potential.

Wow! You live in Poland now! Greetings from Wrocław! I have watched your third video in a row and I need to admit - it seems it's too wise for KZbin ;) Just an irony.

Indulgence in abundance and leisure leads to atrophy. The brain, just like any other organ, needs full spectrum of exercise and stimulus to keep the evolutionary advantage and expand the mind. They say the Koala branched from a much more agile and smart ancestor, but once it found itself in an environment with few or no predators, stuck in the safety of tree branches with food just an arm's stretch away it (d)evolved into the goofy cute permanent toddler. The Panda bear is a similar story. The world offers us comfort at every corner, but we are not made for comfort -- we are destined for greatness.

I have not watched the video test. But if I accept IQ as an objective measurement - there is a lot of criticism. I would say intelligence drops because of plastics and other accumulated chemicals in our bodies. It is also possible it has something to do with our aging population. More old people who tend to score lower in IQ score bring down the average.

what about leaded fuels?
@LuisGutierrez-dr6re Жыл бұрын
My guess before watching this video… Iq scores are lower because smart people are no longer taking them because they mean nothing. Normal people instead take it in hopes to prove they are “intelligent” skewing the results lower. The last person I herd reference his “high iq” I automatically wrote off as a real idiot
