Thank you for sharing this video. I'm in Seattle and looking to pick up a Ranger R23 next spring, so I get to live through your experiences until then!

Great video! I like the opening music/intro. After seeing that you have a 4 hour drive to get to water, I feel very fortunate that we only have a 15 minute drive to the marina.

Hey! Fortunately, we have about lakes in our area that we spend a lot of time on. The coastal trips are the best, though!

Really enjoyed your video…we are just beginning to look at these Ranger Tugs. Considering retiring to eastern NC and trading in our 5th wheel for a Tug….will be looking into more of your videos to learn from your experiences.

Well done approach. Carolina currents must be experienced to be appreciated. In that scenario - but not knowing how your tug behaves - I might have had a short mid-ships line cleated off and ready, the idea being to first get the midships line to an adjacent dock cleat so the boat couldn't really go anywhere. (I'm single handing). Would that have worked?
@CruisingElvinRay5 ай бұрын
Single-handed, it would definitely be easier docking to starboard. I’ve got good access to the mid-ship cleat through the window at the helm and can throw a line around the cleat on the dock. Possible on the port side as well, but I don’t like leaving the helm when I’m docking.

How much does it cost to spend the night in a marina. Do you have to make reservations ahead of time?

Great video, thank you. We are a couple of weeks away from receiving our new Ranger. I was wondering if you’d share your checklist? I know we’ll receive one with the boat but I’m nervous about getting my arms around all the details. Thank you.

Keep an eye out. I’ll put a video together on the checklist(s),then list the lists on ElvinRay.com.

Great video thanks. I have been thinking of getting a Ranger Tug and have been watching videos for a couple of years. I live in Mississippi and would trailer to large inland lakes/river systems. What model is your tug? Being in the south I would have to have AC and generator . Do you have AC and does it work well? I would do a lot of camping away from the marinas. Again thanks for the video!!

We do have Air Conditioning (and reverse cycle heat, which we love in the winter). Works pretty well. Away from marinas, we use a Honda 2200 Companion generator on the swim platform.

A/C works pretty well, unless the temps get extreme. We are spending the next month at the coast, so we’ll see how it does in the summer heat wave.

great video. Is that a half-ton pickup? How does it pull the boat for long distances and up long hills. No big deal?

Hey. We tow Elvin Ray with a Ram 2500 6.4L Hemi 4wd. When we ordered her, we had a 1500, but decided to get the 2500 to make towing easier. Also, our 1500 was 2wd, which would have made for some interesting haul-outs, I’m sure.

I asked earlier what model and I see in another video that you have a R23. I am looking at all the outboard models. I like the R23 I am a single guy so I think it is big enough. I assume AC/heat and generator are not a option on the R23?
@CruisingElvinRay2 жыл бұрын
A generator isn’t an option, but A/C definitely is. We use a Honda 2200 Companion generator on the swim platform to run the A/C away from the marina.

Enjoy your review of the fundamentals in such a relaxed manner. I am a list guy as well. Would you be willing to share your getting ready to put boat in the water check list? We get our Ranger 27 LE in August and have developed a new owners manual which I would be willing to share. Thanks. Paul Serra

Great video and tons of great information. Question: Who do you think pays for "USA freedom"? ... Could it be all the countries invaded by the USA? Maybe? I bet these countries would enjoy using/selling their natural resources and enjoy 'their freedom'' instead of having it stolen... Cheers, L
